Abstract: A lightweight perch formed from plastic, wood or the like, has an outer surface on which is applied a granular material such as sand or the like. A thin layer of adhesive or solvent may be used to attach the granular material to the perch. The resultant perch duplicates the healthy, stimulative effects of expensive concrete and sand perches at a tremendously reduced weight and cost.
Abstract: Sketelay animals toys capable of rolling and bouncing comprise polyhedra or other skeletal structures which can be inscribed on an imaginary spherical or ellipsoidal surface, torii and linear members which form a cylinder with circular cross-section, or elliptical and linear members which form a cylinder with elliptical cross-section. The skeletal animal toy is formed of an elastomeric material, which is preferably natural rubber, synthetic natural rubber, or a blend of natural rubber or synthetic natural rubber and one of a plurality of blending polymers including butadine rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber and ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer rubber.
Abstract: A pet bowl is provided with a non-skid material attached to an outer wall and having improved frictional and drag properties. The non-skid material is molded over a portion of the bottom of the bowl. The non-skid material has components that extend downwardly along the outer wall and outwardly from the outer wall to contact a ground surface, with a gap defined along a contact surface between the downwardly extending and outwardly extending components of the material. The outwardly extending component of the non-skid material is preferably longer than the downwardly extending component for increased drag capabilities and to further inhibit movement of said pet bowl along a ground surface.
Abstract: A molded rubber toy is formed with a hemispherical base, a shaft extending upwardly from the base, a spoke-like array of arms extending from the shaft and a bumper formed on the top end of the shaft The arms limit the tipping movement of the base, and the base is heavier than the combined weights of the shaft, arms and bumper so that the weight of the base rolls the toy back onto the center of its spherical base surface and into an upright position when the toy is upset from its upright at-rest position.
Abstract: A relatively hard stiff core of molded material such as a thermoplastic elastomer provides a durable base for a softer, more easily chewable overcoat layer formed over the core. The core and overcoat may be molded in the shape of a dog bone. Recesses and/or bores may be formed or molded in the core to receive the overcoat material which flows into the recesses and/or bores to lock the overcoat on the core.
Abstract: A chewable pet toy is provided with an outer shell molded from a durable semi-rigid material such as vinyl plastic. The shell partially covers an inner bladder formed of a less durable and softer material such as latex rubber. The bladder can be held within the sleeve with a simple resilient interference fit.
