  • Patent number: 5611772
Abstract: An air massage device which allows for a uniform massage treatment upon a human body. This is accomplished by having a person lie upon an air-mat divided into three distinct sections, with each section corresponding to either the upper, middle or lower region of the human body. Within the upper and middle sections are a plurality of air-bags which can be inflated and deflated independently of each other. In order to massage one of the regions of the human body lying upon the mat, the air-bags within one of the mat sections are inflated and deflated in such a sequence that an inflation/deflation frequency of all the air-bags contained within that section of the air-mat will be equal over any set period of time. In this manner, a uniform massage is assured as each air-bag within the section will inflate and deflate an equal number of times.

  • Patent number: 5520435
Abstract: A reclining legless chair comprising an interlocking headrest constructed from a framework composed of a seat frame, back materials, and a headrest frame, which allows users to automatically set the inclining angle of the headrest which is interlocked to the angle between the seat and the back of the chair wherein the latter angle can be set in one of several steps at will by a user. The framework is made from a U-shaped seat frame, back materials and a headrest frame, in which both opening ends of the seat frame are connected to the straight rods of the back materials through a ratchet and the other ends of the rods are connected to both ends of a U-shaped headrest frame through interlocking mechanisms. The framework is suitably covered with elastic materials, is finished by covering the elastic materials with external cloth and permits the headrest frame to move interlockingly with the inclining angle of the back materials against the seat frame.

  • Patent number: 5460598
Abstract: A chair-type polyfunctional automatic massager which can be used selectively for either a rubbing motion or a finger pressing motion, is driven by one motor and can provide 5 different kinds of movements selectively at will by making the starter apparatus installed in the back of a chair raise and lower. The massager is made up of a driving mechanism which can independently rotate two kinds of driven shafts depending on the direction of rotation of a main spindle rotated by a starter motor. A driven shaft is attached to a rubbing ball mechanism and another driven shaft is attached to a finger pressing mechanism, with both mechanisms linked to a starter device through a connecting mechanism provided between the two mechanisms. A raising and lowering mechanism for the unit is connected with a tapping spindle which can rotate in a forward or reverse direction and is linked to a motor for raising and lowering the unit.

  • Patent number: 5356369
Abstract: A portable vibration finger pressure massager provides finger pressure massage to a body part of the user through the turning motion of massaging balls when the motor rotates in a first direction and simultaneously provides vibration and finger pressure massage when the motor rotates in an opposite direction. A weight change structure is attached to the rear shaft of the motor and becomes unbalanced when the motor rotates in the opposite direction, thereby causing the motor to vibrate. The vibration of the motor is transferred to projections provided on the massager thereby enabling the provision of vibration massage.

  • Patent number: 5352186
Abstract: A finger pressure device for massaging includes a box having a pair of framelike slidable holding trunks provided on opposite sides thereof, a starting motor fixed in the center of the box and having a hollow starting shaft with a female screw part inside, and a T-shape supporting bar having a rear part with a supporting male screw part which engages with the female screw part of the starting motor. The forward part of the T-shape supporting bar has a pair of opposed finger pressure disks on opposite sides thereof. A pair of slidable holding plates can slide inside the slidable holding trunks and their ends are connected to the outer ends of holding parts of the finger pressure disks. The T-shape supporting bar extends and retracts by rotation of the starting shaft in one direction or the reverse direction, and each finger pressure disk extends and retracts repeatedly.

  • Patent number: 5052376
Abstract: Drive mechanism in an automatic massaging apparatus arranged to smoothly effect operational switching for a pair of massaging rollers which carry out a massaging operation and a percussion operation, and which reduces mechanical noise which occurs when carrying out either operation. The drive mechanism comprises two independently rotatable gears which respectively rotate with forward and reverse rotation of a main drive shaft which is rotated by a reversing actuating motor. Two different bearing-supported subordinate shafts are respectively engaged with the gears. Resilient members are respectively inserted between a first subordinate gear and a gearbox, and between a rotational gear and the gearbox. A connecting rod and a connecting member are arranged in such a way as to connect each of the massaging rollers to a respective end of each of the subordinate shafts.

  • Patent number: 5038757
Abstract: A bed base having first and second members which are of generally U-shaped configuration so as to slidably telescope together to permit expansion or contraction of the bed base in the lengthwise direction. Locking mechanism coacts between the telescoping legs to lock the bed base in the selected expanded or contracted position. A sheet-like cover is anchored at one end of the bed base and extends over the upper surface thereof toward the other end, at which point an intermediate part of the cover wraps downwardly around a guide drum. The lower free end of the cover is connected to a compensating mechanism which adjusts cover length. A drive mechanism is mounted adjacent one end of the bed base and includes elongate drive screws which extend along the legs of one base member. A roller massaging unit is positioned beneath the cover and extends transversely between the legs and is coupled to the drive screw so as to be movable in the lengthwise direction of the bed base.
