Patent number: 5875629Abstract: A portable one-hand-operable, hydraulic punching machine is disclosed which comprises at least two pumps driven by an electric motor, and a single-acting, spring-return cylinder driven by one of the pumps for a variety of punching operations such as cutting, perforating, and wrenching. The machine has a pump housing and a cylinder housing disposed end to end, with a partition therebetween in which there are formed a fluid supply passageway for supplying a hydraulic fluid under pressure from one pump to the cylinder fluid chamber, a fluid return passageway for returning the fluid from the cylinder fluid chamber to the pump fluid chamber, and a spool chamber open to the return passageway. In order to hold the return passageway closed during cylinder extension, and to open the same for cylinder contraction a return valve is provided which includes a spool reciprocably received in the spool chamber.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1997Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Kiyoshi Kimura

Patent number: 5832771Abstract: A hydraulic punch press for use with a set of interchangeable tool assemblies for boring, cutting, bending, or otherwise working on semi-finished steel frame members or the like. Included are a punch press section having a hydraulic cylinder for driving a tool assembly, a toolholder section having a turntable on which tool seats are arranged radially for carrying a set of tool assemblies, and a guideway section for transfer of a tool assembly between punch press section and toolholder section. The turntable is rotatable to bring any of the tool seats to a tool transfer position where a tool assembly may be transferred to or back from the punch press section by way of the guideway. Each tool assembly is normally locked to one tool seat by two lockpins. One lockpin is automatically released when the associated tool seat comes to the tool transfer position, and the other when a positioning arm is manipulated to retain the tool seat in that position. Additional embodiments are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1997Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Eisuke Oide

Patent number: 5802850Abstract: A portable punching machine is disclosed which has a hydraulic, single acting, spring return cylinder for linearly moving a punch toward and away from a die. The cylinder is driven in turn by a hydraulic pump disposed in a fluid chamber built into the machine. The pump fluid chamber is in constant communication with a fluid control chamber accommodating an elastic air bag capable of contraction and expansion for keeping constant the amount of hydraulic oil in the pump fluid chamber. Characteristically, a spacer of polyurethane foam or like elastic material is loosely inserted in the air bag in order to prevent the mutual contact of the inside surface of the bag, such contact being undesirable because the inside surface of the bag is customarily covered with a sticky parting agent that has been used in molding the bag from rubber.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1997Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Kiyoshi Kimura

Patent number: 5630277Abstract: A machine having a hydraulic, single acting, spring return cylinder for moving a punch toward and away from a die in order to cut a hole in a steel frame member or the like. A laser is built into the machine for emitting an aiming beam from the punch. A hole can be punched exactly in position on the work by projecting the aiming beam to a preformed mark thereon.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1995Date of Patent: May 20, 1997Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Kiyoshi Kimura

Patent number: 5598737Abstract: A portable punch press suitable for bending, cutting or otherwise working on steel frame members at sites of construction. Included is a C shaped frame erected on a bed for upstandingly carrying a hydraulic cylinder in overlying relationship to the bed. A replaceable die assembly is mounted on the bed so as to be acted upon by the hydraulic cylinder a for working on a desired blank. A pump for supplying a pressurized fluid to the cylinder is mounted thereon and driven by an electric motor disposed behind the pump. The pump and its drive motor are disposed in horizontal alignment for reduction of the total height of the machine, so that a steel frame member can be bent into a rectangular frame of less size than heretofore. In another embodiment the die assembly is modified to include a drive linkage such that the dies are disposed out of vertical register with the cylinder, thereby making possible the production of rectangular frames of further reduced size.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1994Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Eisuke Oide

Patent number: 5457889Abstract: A portable, power-driven machine for cutting a threaded rod to any required length by the shearing action of a movable cutting bit thrust past a fixed cutting bit. Each cutting bit has a series of semicircular internal threads for mating engagement with the threaded rod, and a cutting face disposed perpendicular to the axis of the internal threads. A depression with a depth less than the thread pitch is formed in the cutting face of the fixed cutting bit. When the threaded rod is sheared, to one rod section is partly received in the depression at the end of the cutting stroke of the movable cutting bit, in order to prevent the jamming engagement of the movable cutting bit with the rod section through their mating threads. A similar depression is formed in the cutting face of the movable cutting bit in an alternate embodiment of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1994Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Kiyoshi Kimura

Patent number: 5282378Abstract: A hydraulic punching machine is disclosed which has a casing having formed therein a piston chamber in which a piston is reciprocably mounted to define a pair of opposed fluid chambers, and a fluid reservoir for containing a hydraulic fluid. The piston has a piston rod carrying a punch for movement into and out of engagement with a die on the casing. Also mounted to the casing is a motor driven pump for pressurizing the fluid. A solenoid actuated spool valve alternately places the fluid chambers in communication with the pump and with a fluid drain. The solenoid is connected to an electric control circuit capable of sensing the extension and contraction of the piston rod. Therefore, upon extension of the piston rod, with the consequent creation of a punch in the work such as sheet steel, the control circuit cases the spool valve to automatically contract the piston rod under fluid pressure.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1992Date of Patent: February 1, 1994Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Kiyoshi Kimura

Patent number: 5203192Abstract: A portable bending machine has a boxlike casing with an internal support structure fastened to its top plate only. A reinforcing steel rod is bent around a fulcrum roll by a bending roll revolving about the fulcrum axis, while an adjustable abutment on the top plate of the casing bears against the work. The bending roll, the fulcrum roll, the abutment, and a drive mechanism for revolving the bending roll about the fulcrum roll are all mounted, either directly or via the internal support structure, solely to the top plate of the casing. Consequently, all but the top plate of the casing walls can be made thinner than heretofore.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1992Date of Patent: April 20, 1993Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha OguraInventor: Kiyoshi Kimura

Patent number: 4382331Abstract: A hydraulic cutter apparatus provided herein comprises a piston slidably disposed in a cylinder, pumping apparatus for feeding a working fluid to the cylinder thereby axially displacing the piston for cutting operation with a cutting blade mounted at the front end of the piston rod. Release valve apparatus are provided for returning back the working fluid from the cylinder whose inner pressure is thereby lowered, allowing the piston to move back to the home position.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1981Date of Patent: May 10, 1983Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Ogura Chuck SeisakushoInventor: Kiyoshi Kimura
