Abstract: A method for generating toll information for vehicle devices in a road-toll system with a toll center and geographically distributed radio beacons. The method includes providing a set of location data of toll-requiring geo-objects from the respective local environment of a beacon in this beacon, recording a sequence of position data of a vehicle device in this vehicle device, if the aforementioned vehicle device is in the transmitting/receiving range of a beacon: receiving the location-data set from this beacon in the vehicle device, comparing the position-data sequence with the received location-data set in the vehicle device in order to generate toll information therefrom, and if the above-mentioned vehicle device is in the transmitting/receiving range of a beacon: transmitting the toll information from the vehicle device via the beacon to the toll center. The invention further relates to a vehicle device, a beacon and a monitoring device for such a road-toll system.

  • Publication number: 20110090095
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and apparatus for displaying toll charging parameters of vehicles by means of a roadside display. In one embodiment, parameters are sent from an onboard-unit of the vehicle to the roadside display. In an alternative embodiment, parameters are registered under a vehicle identification in a database and retrieved therefrom for displaying on the roadside display by a detection of the identification of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20110093315
Abstract: Apparatus for personalization and registration of vehicle devices of different types in a road toll system, comprising: for each type of vehicle device, a respective personalization module that is configured to write personalization data into a vehicle device of this type and generate the associated registration data, which contains the personalization data, an interface module common to all personalization modules that is configured to receive their registration data and, following a release request, send it to a registration database of the road toll system, and a testing unit that reads out the personalization data of a personalized but not yet registered vehicle device, checks the registration data generated by the responsible personalization module for agreement of the personalization data contained therein with the read-out personalization data, and if it agrees, sends a release request with respect to this registration data to the interface module.

  • Patent number: 7898432
Abstract: A method and system for determining right of way for a plurality of mobile units at an intersection. The method and system include collecting position and movement information about the plurality of mobile units approaching the intersection; storing a plurality of rules about right of way at the intersection; accessing information about geometry of the intersection; calculating which one or more of the plurality of the mobile units have right of way to enter the intersection, responsive to the position and movement information, the stored rules and the information about geometry of the intersection; and wirelessly transmitting right of way indication signals to one or more of the plurality of the mobile units.

  • Publication number: 20100303139
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for measuring a phase shift between a first and a second signal, comprising the steps of shifting the first signal in frequency by an offset frequency, superposing the frequency-shifted first signal and the second signal, determining an envelope signal of the superposed signal, and measuring a phase shift of the envelope signal at the offset frequency, or a multiple thereof, with respect to the phase of the offset frequency, wherein the phase shift is measured by determining a Fourier coefficient of the envelope signal at the offset frequency and extracting its phase. The invention further relates to an apparatus implementing the method.

  • Publication number: 20100283856
Abstract: A method for calibrating the image (3I, 3II) of a camera (1), and, in particular, a traffic-monitoring camera, with respect to its viewing space, such that the camera projection parameters (mk1) of a camera projection of the viewing space onto the image are determined, includes the steps of providing a movable carrier (4) with at least four markings that can be viewed by the camera (1) and that span a volume and that form known first world points (wi) in the viewing space, recording a first image (3I) of the viewing space, shifting the carrier (4) in the viewing space by an unknown offset (v) in order to obtain second world points (wi) dependent on this offset in the viewing space, recording a second image (3II) of the viewing space, detecting the markings in the first image (3I) as first image points (pi) and in the second image (3II) as second image points (pi), and determining the camera projection parameters (mk1), while also determining the offset (v), from the known first world points, the second world
