  • Publication number: 20020008419
Abstract: In the case of a locking device for a vehicle seat, in particular for a vehicle seat adjuster, which locking device acts between at least two adjuster parts of the vehicle seat adjuster, which adjuster parts can be adjusted relative to each other, having a first toothed element (11) which is assigned to a first adjuster part, a second toothed element which is assigned to a second adjuster part, at least one clamping element (21) which, in a locked state of the locking device, keeps the two toothed elements (11) in engagement with each other, and at least one intercepting element (30) which, in the event of a crash, supports the first toothed element (11) by means of at least one intercepting surface (31, 32, 33, 34), the intercepting element (30) has at least two intercepting surfaces (31, 32, 33, 34).

  • Patent number: 6332649
Abstract: A locking mechanism has a lower member secured to a seat base, and an upper member that can rotate relative to the lower member and is secured to a seat back. A control element is capable of being rotated with a bar. A spring biases the control element toward a first configuration in which the control element drives a locking element radially away from the bar so that the locking element restricts rotation of the upper member relative to the lower member. The bar is capable of being rotated to a second configuration, and the control element rotates with the bar so that the locking element is capable of traveling radially toward the bar during the second configuration. A drive mechanism rotates with the bar and drives the locking element radially toward the bar during the second configuration, so that rotation of the upper member relative to the lower member is allowed. A transmission element is positioned between the control element and the bar.

  • Patent number: 6308589
Abstract: A locking device for vehicle seats, in particular motor vehicle seats, includes two mutually displaceable parts. A rail, associated to one of the parts, extends in the direction of displacement and has at least one row of snap-in holes extending longitudinally along the rail. These holes are separated from each other by web-like material sections. Ratchets, associated to the other part, can move in relation to the rail between a disengaging position and a locking position. They move perpendicularly to the direction of extension of the rail, and are controlled via an operating mechanism. When the mutually displaceable parts are in locked position, at least one of the ratchets engages in a corresponding snap-in hole. At least one retaining element prevents involuntary disengaging of the ratchet from an effective locking position. As a result, reliable locking is achieved, in particular in the event of a crash, which entails high frequency vibrational fractions.

  • Publication number: 20010028189
Abstract: In a pivot mechanism for a vehicle seat, comprising at least two members adapted for rotation relative to each other about a seat back pivot axle and for engagement by a locking device, at least one flexible actuation element for disengaging the locking device, whose line of action intersects the seat back pivot axle, and at least one deflection means for the flexible actuation element, one end of the flexible actuation element is attached to a member of the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6234575
Abstract: A longitudinal adjusting device on a motor vehicle seat having a seat back adjustable relative to the seat part and forwardly foldable after releasing an arresting device, has movable rails on which the seat is fastened. The moveable rails can slide in guide rails attached to the vehicle. One movable rail has a locking device that releasably locks the moveable rail on the guide rail. The locking device has a positioning device for returning the seat to its previous longitudinal position. The positioning device has a positioning disc with locking teeth and an arresting lever with a toothed segment engaging the locking teeth. The arresting lever can be released from the locking teeth to allow rotation of the positioning disc during longitudinal adjustment of the seat. A spring-loaded winding drum is arranged coaxially to the positioning disc and allows the seat part to slide forward by a tension member attached to the seat part or the guide rail.

  • Patent number: 6196628
Abstract: The fastening device consists of at least one retaining element 13 attached to the seat of the vehicle, this element holding a fastening element 14, which can be moved between a service position and an out-of-service position (parking position). So that the fastening element 14 can be moved easily into the service position and then again into the parking position without the need for any force-transferring element installed at a remote location, the fastening element 14 is connected to the retaining element 13 by means of a latching mechanism 17, which makes it possible for the fastening element 14 to be lowered into a parking position and returned to a service position.

  • Patent number: 6170790
Abstract: A longitudinal adjusting device for vehicle seats, whose backrest, which is adjustable in inclination positions which are selectable as the case may be, is swivelably connected with a seat part, has running rails and guide rails, wherein the seat part is fastened to the running rails. Each running rail is displaceable longitudinally in one of the guide rails fixed to the vehicle floor. A locking device secures at least one of the running rails to the respective guide rail in selectable longitudinal positions. A spring member supports at least one of the running rails at the guide rail for purposes of a forward displacement of the running rails, wherein the spring member is a spiral spring. A winding drum is rotatably supported on the running rail, wherein a first end of the spiral spring is associated with the running rail and a second end of the spiral spring is associated with the guide rail, wherein the second end of the spiral spring associated with the guide rail is held at the winding drum.
