  • Patent number: 11589440
Abstract: The system of the present application is a switching system for LEDs which prevents breakdown of the system LED driver when switching between LEDs. The system switches between a first LED sting and a second LED string utilizing an LED driver, at least one LED module, a driver input, at least one pair of switching inputs and a switching module such that the first and second LED strings are activated by the switching module at all times, and each of the first and second LED strings operate with a driver output voltage within a voltage-current operating range of the LED driver. This allows the use of different sets of LEDs without requiring duplication of other system components.

  • Patent number: 11493183
Abstract: A method of providing doses of light sufficient to deactivate bacteria throughout a volumetric space. The method includes: (1) receiving data associated with a desired illuminance level for the space, indicative of an estimated occupancy of the volumetric space over a pre-determined period of time, and indicative of dimensions of the space; (2) determining, based on the received data, an arrangement of one or more lighting fixtures in the volumetric space, the one or more lighting fixtures configured to at least partially emit disinfecting light having a wavelength of between 400 nm and 420 nm, and a total radiometric power to be applied via the one or more lighting fixtures to produce a desired power density at any exposed surface within the volumetric space during the period of time; and (3) installing the determined arrangement of one or more lighting fixtures in the volumetric space.

  • Patent number: 11346528
Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a housing, a light source, and a lens. The housing includes a base and first and second sidewalls. Each of the sidewalls extend obtusely from the base. The light source is operably coupled to the base and includes a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The lens is operably coupled to at least one of the sidewalls and cooperates with the sidewalls to define an interior cavity. The plurality of LEDs are arranged such that light emitted therefrom is directed from the base toward at least one of the first or second sidewalls and is redirected to the interior cavity a first time.

  • Patent number: 11324843
Abstract: A lighting device configured to deactivate pathogens in an environment. The lighting device includes a housing, means for mounting the housing to a surface in the environment, one or more first light-emitting elements arranged in the housing and configured to each produce disinfecting light having a wavelength in a first range of wavelengths, and one or more second light-emitting elements arranged in the housing and configured to each produce disinfecting light having a wavelength in a second range of wavelengths different from the first range of wavelengths. The disinfecting light produced by the first light-emitting elements and the disinfecting light produced by the second light-emitting elements mix to form a combined light, the combined light being visible light other than white light.

  • Patent number: 11287104
Abstract: A lighting fixture and method of providing lighting is provided herein that utilizes both direct and indirect light sources. The direct and indirect light sources can be provided in arrays of light emitting diodes (LEDs) oriented along desired axes. In some versions, the light fixtures described herein include a direct lighting array having one or more LEDs oriented to project light downwardly and an indirect lighting array having a plurality of LEDs oriented to project light in a transverse direction. Further, the light fixtures can include an indirect lighting member configured to be illuminated by the plurality of LEDs of the indirect lighting array. Additionally, or alternatively, the light fixtures described herein can include one or more controllers that are configured to independently operate the direct and indirect lighting arrays. Moreover, the indirect lighting array can be configured to emit light in a plurality of colors to visually convey information.

  • Patent number: 11156339
Abstract: A luminaire with uplighting and downlighting capabilities is provided. According to one aspect, the luminaire may include a housing, a light source disposed in the housing, and a lens. The light source may be configured to emit light in a downward direction, and the lens may at least partially cover the light source. An opening may be formed in a top part of the housing and may permit light reflected by an interior surface of the lens to be transmitted in an upward direction from the housing. Optionally, a transparent or translucent cover member may at least partially cover the opening in the top part of the housing.

  • Patent number: 11098879
Abstract: A lighting fixture for use in a security detention facility. The lighting fixture includes a unitary housing adapted to be mounted to a surface in the security detention facility, a first bracket disposed within the unitary housing, and a light source coupled to the first bracket, the light source including a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). When the unitary housing is mounted to the surface in the security detention facility, the internal components of the lighting fixture (e.g., the light source) are not accessible, such that inmates of the security detention facility are unable to damage the internal components of the lighting fixture or access the internal components of the lighting fixture to hide weapons or contraband therein or use those components to harm themselves, other inmates, and/or security personnel.
