Patents Assigned to Kenall Manufacturing Company
  • Patent number: 10149368
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for systems and methods of managing a lighting system. According to certain aspects, the lighting system includes a low voltage controller (LVC) connected to multiple switches and to multiple drivers. Based on signals received from the switches, the LVC may determine a desired lighting setting as well as an adjustment setting of the lighting setting. The LVC may apply an appropriate signal to a driver to cause the driver to power a corresponding portion of luminaires. The LVC may include a memory configured to store adjustment settings so that the LVC may revert back to desired lighting and adjustment settings.

Abstract: A lighting device configured to deactivate pathogens in an environment. The lighting device includes a housing, means for mounting the housing to a surface in the environment, one or more first light-emitting elements arranged in the housing and configured to each produce disinfecting light having a wavelength in a first range of wavelengths, and one or more second light-emitting elements arranged in the housing and configured to each produce disinfecting light having a wavelength in a second range of wavelengths different from the first range of wavelengths. The disinfecting light produced by the first light-emitting elements and the disinfecting light produced by the second light-emitting elements mix to form a combined light, the combined light being visible light other than white light.

  • Patent number: 10030852
Abstract: A luminaire that includes a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs), a light diffuser having a planar surface facing the LEDs, and a reflector that surrounds a cavity formed between the light diffuser and the LEDs. Also disclosed is a light distribution system having a first plurality of lenses configured to convert incident light into a light distribution pattern and a second plurality of lenses configured to convert incident light into a different light distribution pattern. Further disclosed is a method of distributing light that involves emitting light towards a light diffuser, scattering a first portion of the light with the light diffuser, reflecting a second portion of the light with the light diffuser, reflecting the second portion of the light with a first reflective surface back towards the light diffuser, and scattering the second portion of the light with the light diffuser.

  • Patent number: 9927080
Abstract: An optic panel, an LED lighting system including the optic panel, and a luminaire including the LED lighting system are described. The optic panel includes an optic disposed within a cut out of a base plate, and one or more supports fixedly couple the optic with the base plate. Each support preferably touches the optic at only a single location. In some aspects, the supports provide sufficient support to the optic such that the entire optic panel can be molded as a single, monolithic mass and the supports do not or only minimally interfere with the desired total internal reflection of the optics because of the minimal engagement with the supports and/or the placement of the engagement with the supports. The optic panel may be incorporated into the LED lighting system, for example, forming a secondary optics for the LED lighting system.

  • Patent number: 9897263
Abstract: A light panel for a luminaire includes a frame, a lamp assembly carried by the frame, a dissipater heat sink carried by the frame, and a heat transfer line that thermally couples the lamp assembly to the dissipater heat sink. The heat transfer line transfers heat generated by the lamp assembly, for example by a light element of the lamp assembly, to the dissipater heat sink by conduction. The dissipater heat sink is exposed to an exterior side of the frame such that heat from the lamp assembly is dissipated to the exterior side of the frame by conduction through the heat transfer line and the dissipater heat sink. The light panel may form a door for a housing of a luminaire, which may be easily retrofitted to the housing.

  • Patent number: 9874343
Abstract: An electronic component includes a housing, a heat-generating component, and a heat sink that is insulated from the housing. The housing is made at least partly of a first metallic material. The heat-generating component is disposed in the housing. The heat sink, which is made at least partly of a second metallic material, is disposed adjacent the heat-generating component and configured to dissipate heat from the heat-generating component. An optional insulating element can be disposed between the housing and the heat sink and insulates the second metallic material from the first metallic material.

  • Patent number: 9788381
Abstract: Embodiments are included for providing an energy efficient lighting system that includes one or several luminaires. According to certain aspects, when an area covered by the luminaires is vacant, the light level in the area is measured while the luminaires are on and set to a low dim level. The measured light level is used to approximate the amount of natural light in the area and when the measured light level exceeds a predetermined nonzero light level, the luminaires are turned off for a certain time period. Once the time period expires, the light level is measured again to approximate the amount of natural light present in the area.

  • Patent number: 9763310
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for commissioning a lighting system that includes a plurality of luminaires. According to certain aspects, an electronic device can, for each of the plurality of luminaires, connect to a luminaire and retrieve an identification of the luminaire. The electronic device can associate its location as the location of the luminaire, as well as prompt a user to associate a layout tag of existing layout data for the lighting system with the luminaire. The electronic device can transmit the commissioning data for the lighting system to a server for remote storage. The server enables remote access to the commissioning data by various electronic devices and users thereof.
