Patents Assigned to Knurr AG
  • Patent number: 8690651
Abstract: A rack system (100) comprises a plurality of racks (105) arranged to form at least one aisle (120) between them. The aisle (120) is sealed such that essentially all of a cooling medium supplied to the aisle (120) passes through the racks (105). A bleeding opening is provided for enabling a bleeding of the cooling medium out of the aisle (120) and an entering of an ambient medium into the aisle (120). A sensor (such as a temperature sensor) is arranged to determine a medium flow direction through the bleeding opening. In one embodiment, a signal generated by the sensor is used to control at least one parameter of the cooling medium supplied to the aisle (120).

  • Publication number: 20110207392
Abstract: In order to improve the energy balance for air cooling in equipment cabinets, in particular cabinet arrangements in computer centres and server rooms, regulation of the fans for the cooling air circuit is proposed, by means of which precisely the required amount of cooling air can be made available in the induction area to the electronic module units, in particular servers, in the equipment cabinets. According to the invention, at least one leakage air flow is formed between a cold air channel and an exhaust air channel, and is provided with a temperature sensor. The temperature measurement indirectly measures the flow direction and acts as a reference variable for regulating the rotation speed of the fans which, in particular, are arranged in the exhaust air channel. Regulation of the fan rotation speed matches the volume flow of the cooling air circuit to the volume flow actually required by the electronic module units, and therefore reduces the electricity consumption.

The aisle (120) is sealed such that essentially all of a cooling medium supplied to the aisle (120) passes through the racks (105). A sensor arrangement (195) is provided to compare the medium pressure inside and outside the aisle (120). In one embodiment, a signal generated by the sensor arrangement (195) is used to control at least one parameter of the cooling medium supplied to the aisle (120). As an example, the flow rate of the cooling medium may be controlled.

  • Publication number: 20080068791
Abstract: The invention relates to an equipment and network cabinet or a housing for receiving electronic modular units, particularly a server cabinet, which has a substantially airtight construction and has a closed cooling air circuit with a heat exchanger for thermal power loss dissipation. In order to be able to recirculate without increased pressure losses the air mass flows circulated at an increased flow rate, flow-correct components are provided which reduce the flow resistance in the cooling air circuit and lead to an optimization and deflection of the air flow.

  • Patent number: 7178354
Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing arrangement for an enclosure or equipment cabinet and to an attachable air conditioning device. In order to ensure a watertight, linear sealing of the air distribution spaces with the necessary protection level, sealing frames and seals cooperating therewith and appropriately an additional cover are provided between the air conditioning device and the covering part.
