  • Patent number: 9174474
Abstract: A temperature control assembly controls the temperature of parts of a printing machine. A plurality of assembly-side sub-circuits, the temperature of which is to be individually controlled, each comprises a temperature control fluid outlet and a temperature control fluid inlet. An external temperature control sub-circuit, can be connected to each assembly-side sub-circuit to form a respective temperature control circuit. The assembly-side sub-circuits are coupled to a common feed line, which conducts temperature control fluid, in a thermal and/or fluidic manner on the feed side to control the temperature of the assembly-side sub-circuits and to a common return line on the return side. The feed line is connected to a fluid store, which provides temperature control fluid to supply the feed line. The temperature control assembly comprises the common feed line, the fluid store, and an assembly which controls the temperature of the temperature control fluid of the fluid store.

Abstract: Inking units of a printing unit having at least one first inking unit roll and having a second inking unit roll which can be pivoted between the first inking unit roll and a third inking unit roll, at a distance from the first inking unit roll. A pivot drive for pivoting the second inking unit roll is provided with a drive assembly which is mechanically independent from the rotation of cylinders of the printing unit and also from inking unit rolls provided in the inking unit. A screwing down force for at least one of the first and third inking unit rolls can be set by one of predefining and changing a set point value relating to the drive force of the drive assembly remotely by the actuation of an adjusting assembly.

  • Patent number: 8943967
Abstract: A method of mounting and adjusting a printing plate on a plate cylinder of a multicolor offset printing press is described. The printing plate is clamped between front and rear clamping bars, the rear clamping bar being movable under the application of a tensioning force and occupying, upon clamping of the trailing end of the printing plate, a tension-release position. Tensioning of the printing plate is carried out by initially applying a nominal tensioning force to the rear clamping bar. A print register of the tensioned printing plate is then measured and compared to a target print register to determine a corrected tensioning position of the rear clamping bar corresponding to the target print register. The tension of the printing plate is thereafter released. The correct tensioning position is set as new reference position of the rear clamping bar before or after tensioning again the printing plate.

  • Publication number: 20130008744
Abstract: A printing tower of a press can be divided into two side frames. A platform can be moved in a vertical direction between the two side frames. A securing device is provided and is constructed as a crash safeguard and is configured such that the securing device can be moved, together with the platform, in the vertical direction. The securing device can also be moved relative to the platform. A method for providing a platform of a printing tower of a press is also disclosed, which press is divided by one movable side frame being moved relative to another side frame. As a result, an intermediate space is provided. A lifting device is arranged in the intermediate space and may be released by the displacement conveying the platform into the intermediate space in the vertical direction into a desired position. Following the displacement of the mobile side frame, the securing device is moved relative to the platform and the securing device, together with the platform, can be moved in the vertical direction.

Abstract: A web offset press includes several printing units through which a web passes essentially in a horizontal direction. The printed web then passes to at least one first folding unit. Each of the printing units has at least one plate cylinder and one transfer cylinder which interacts with the web being printed. An effective plate width of the plate cylinder corresponds to the print image of at least eight upright or prone printed pages in a BIN 4A format. The printed web is slit longitudinally into a plurality of web strands: A first number of these web strands are supplied to the first folding apparatus. At the same time, a second number of web strands, produced by the slitting of the same web, are supplied to a second folding apparatus for further processing.

  • Patent number: 8339260
Abstract: A hazardous area in the region surrounding a reel transport of a reel changer is secured. A contactless protective device is located at the access boundaries of the region. This protective device can be deactivated for feeding and/or removing a known object and comprises an evaluation unit. The protective device is configured as a light curtain that is comprised of a plurality of light beams that run in parallel to each other. The evaluation unit includes an assembly for detecting the sequence of the interruption of the light beams during the feeding and/or the removal of an object. Based on the detected sequence of interruption of the light beams, a known object, that is permitted to access the hazardous area, is detected. The protective device is deactivated in this situation. Securing the hazardous area further includes the provision of a second contactless protective device that is permanently active.
