Patent number: 7921773Abstract: A doctor blade system utilizes a lightweight doctor blade chamber to apply ink to an inking roller. The doctor blade chamber is removably positioned on a support plate which is, in turn, carried by linear guides on pivotable end plates. A rigid box beam is also attached to the end plates and is spaced from the support plate. A plurality of membrane cylinders are mounted on the rigid box beam and engage a surface of the support plate opposite to the surface that supports the doctor blade chamber. Through the application of suitable force, the support plate and its supported doctor blade chamber can be moved, by sliding motion on the linear slides, into uniform engagement with the surface of the ink roller. The system uses pivotable end plates which are supported by exterior plates that are, in turn, pivotably supported by press side frames.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2008Date of Patent: April 12, 2011Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Ewald Röthlein, Helmut Schmidt

Patent number: 7886663Abstract: Vibrations of a cylinder, which is a part of a web-processing machine, and particularly a printing machine, are dampened. A functional correlation is determined for a course of a force of a channel passage through a nip point defined by the cylinder and a second cylinder. The functional correlation is pre-defined up to a scaling factor determining the height as a time course for an actuator force time course and is stored in a control or a regulating device. The vibration, or an amplitude of the vibration is measured during the operation of at least part of the cylinder by the use of a sensor. A maximum vibration amplitude on the roll body of the cylinder is then calculated from the measuring value. The actuators are controlled by the control or regulating device according to the pre-defined actuator force time course.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2005Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Ralf Christel, Oliver Frank Hahn, Karl Erich Albert Schaschek

Patent number: 7883455Abstract: A folding device includes a folding blade cylinder and a cooperating folding jaw cylinder, each of which has several circumferentially arranged holding devices. These holding devices can be moved between a disengaged position, where the leading end of a product can be inserted or released, and a holding position in which the product leading edge is held in the holding device. The folding blade cylinder and the folding jaw cylinder each have a number of holding devices equal to the respective number of folding blades and folding jaws. Each of the folding blades presses a product to be folded, and which is held by one of the holding devices on the folding blade cylinder, into a cooperating folding jaw on the folding jaw cylinder. This is accomplished during the passage of the product through a transfer slot between the folding blade cylinder and the folding jaw cylinder. An offset between each folding blade and its associated holding device is adjustable.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2007Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Michael Held, Sebastian Alois Prüm

Patent number: 7832682Abstract: A material roll is transported to a roll changer by being arranged on a transport carriage. The material roll and transport carriage are placed on a transfer table which is moved into position between journal bearings of the roll changer. The transfer table is adapted to move the material roll transversely and along a longitudinal axis of the material roll and can pivot in a horizontal plane. An inclined position of the material roll, arranged on the transfer table, is determined by sensors. In this determined, axially aligned position, the material roll is axially aligned on the bearing journals. The roll size of the material is determined. An axially aligned position for roller support arms of a roll carrier of the roll changer is determined as a function of the determined roll size. An axially aligned position of the transfer table is determined as a function of the determined roll size and the determined inclined position of the material roll.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2006Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Koenig & Bauer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Martin Richard Keller, Erwin Paul Josef Lehrieder, Walter Ritter, Klaus Walter Röder
