  • Patent number: 7108788
Abstract: Disclosed is an on-site treatment method of food waste generated from multi-unit dwellings and institutional food service facilities, by transporting wastewater-containing food waste to a separation chamber by use of domestic wastewater or an additional transporter; separating the transported food waste to wastewater and food waste; and treating the separated wastewater in a sewage disposal plant, and the separated food waste using disposal equipment. Such food waste can be treated even using disposal equipment of small capacities, due to separation of wastewater and food waste, compared to disposal equipment of large capacities required for treating wastewater and food waste together. Also, the quality of the separated wastewater is better than the conventional quality of wastewater, and thus loads of the sewage disposal plant can be efficiently decreased.

  • Patent number: 7076122
Abstract: A patch-type extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometric fiber optic sensor and a real-time structural vibration monitoring method using the same are disclosed. The patch-type extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometric fiber optic sensor is provided by combining the existing EFPI (Extrinsic Fabry-Perot Interferometer) fiber optic sensor with a direction-detecting sensor which can acquire direction information of a strain of a structure, which can solve a signal distortion problem occurring in the existing EFPI fiber optic sensor through a simple signal process. The patch-type extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometric fiber optic sensor includes a piezoelectric material which can apply a control force to the existing EFPI fiber optic sensor, and a self-sensing bridge circuit for extracting the direction information when the piezoelectric material is used as an actuator, so that the sensible range of strain can be extended and the piezoelectric material can directly be used as the actuator based on the sensed signal.

  • Patent number: 6398942
Abstract: Disclosed is an electrochemical machining process for fabrication of cylindrical microprobes, which is effected by the tool acting as the cathode against the workpiece acting as the anode, taking advantage of a chemical reaction occurring between the workpiece and the tool, both being beneath the surface of an electrolyte, under such a controlled electric field that the workpiece can be machined to have a uniform diameter throughout its entire length. The electrochemical machining can be carried out with greater precision because a precise machining process because the volume to be additionally processed owing to the surface tension generated when the workpiece is dipped into the electrolyte is taken into consideration.

  • Patent number: 6187476
Abstract: A method for making an electrode for lithium secondary cells. Lithium and cobalt ions are co-precipitated in an alkaline solution in such a way that the ratio of the former to the latter is 1.05:1 or more and then, are thermally treated to give LiCoO2 powder. This ternary system compound is combined with a current collector and a binder. The electrode has an initial discharge capacity of 160 mAh/g and retains 90% of the initial capacity even after 400 times of charge/discharge cycle.

  • Patent number: 4450274
Abstract: This invention pertains to a new process for preparing an ethambutol-sulfonic acid derivative which is widely used as an antituberculosis agent. In the known process, there are many defects which include: side reactions, impurities, low yield, high cost production inefficiency and pollution hazard. For the purpose of preparing an ethambutol-sulfonic acid derivative of a higher purity and higher yield than the known process, ethambutol or its hydrogen chloride salt is reacted with chloromethane sulfonic acid or its sodium salt in the lower alcoholic solvent such as methanol, ethanol, propanol, or isopropanol, at a temperature between room temperature and boiling point of the solvent, for about an hour, to produce ethambutol-chloromethane-sulfonate which is then reacted with isoniazid to produce the ethambutol-sulfonic acid derivative of the present invention.
