Abstract: A post-processing device attaches sheets of paper together using one or more staples. A power management section shifts from a normal mode to a power saving mode when no operation exists within first time. A system controller predicts whether possibility of using the one or more staples will be high or low based on predetermined reference including a print pattern of a print job and processing ability of the post-processing device. The system controller causes the power management section to switch the first time with second time longer than the first time when determining that the possibility of using the one or more staples will be high, and does not switch the first time with the second time when determining that the possibility of using the one or more staples will be low.

Abstract: A first duct connects a tank and a syringe together. A second duct connects the syringe and a dumper together. A third duct connects the dumper and the tank together. When a time (deformation restoration time) until the swollen dumper is returned to its original shape is determined, a controller deforms the dumper. The controller sets the position of a liquid level in the tank less than a specified position (syringe filling processing). The controller opens the third duct so as to measure a liquid level recovery time until the output of a liquid level sensor is changed (time measurement processing). The controller determines a deformation restoration time based on the liquid level recovery time.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a conveyance part, an image forming part, a sheet detection sensor, a sensor unit, and a controller. Abstract: Toner contained in a toner container is used for replenishing a developing unit via an intermediate hopper. A toner sensor detects emptiness for the toner on an upstream side of a conveyance screw of the intermediate hopper in terms of the toner conveyance direction. Every time the toner sensor detects emptiness, the controller drives a rotation mechanism so that the toner is ejected from the toner container. Based on a drive history of a conveyance-purpose motor, the controller calculates a toner conveyance amount conveyed from the intermediate hopper between a time when the toner sensor detects emptiness and a time when the toner sensor detects emptiness again. When the calculated toner conveyance amount has been equal to or smaller than a first conveyance amount threshold value successively, the controller determines that the toner container is in a nearly empty state.
Abstract: A naphthalenedicarboxylic acid dichloride production method includes causing a reaction between naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and a chlorinating agent at a reaction temperature of 20° C. or higher and 75° C. or lower in presence of a solvent including tetrahydrofuran. The causing a reaction in the naphthalenedicarboxylic acid dichloride production method is preferably performed in presence of N,N-disubstituted formamide.

Abstract: A sheet reader reads the entire sheet which is transported. Based on the reading, a controller generates region classification image data for distinguishing between a region of the sheet and a region other than the sheet. The controller performs comparison processing in which reference image data that is the region classification image data of a first sheet in a print job and comparison target image data that is the region classification image data for another sheet are compared. The controller determines whether or not a sheet corresponding to the comparison target image data is abnormal.
