Abstract: A mobile apparatus is used to process animal waste in a farm building and to spread the processed animal waste back on the floor of the farm building as the apparatus moves through the farm building. The apparatus includes a processing mechanism that heats the animal waste to a predetermined temperature to eliminate insects, bacteria, and ammonia from the animal waste. The apparatus also includes a spreader mechanism for distributing the processed animal waste onto the farm building floor. The most preferred implementation of the apparatus is a single-pass machine that takes in animal waste in the front using a pickup mechanism, processes the animal waste to sanitize the animal waste, and spreads the sanitized animal waste in the rear, allowing the operator to move the machine through the farm building and thereby sanitize all of the animal waste in a single pass.
The apparatus may optionally include a pickup mechanism that picks up the animal waste off of the farm building floor and directs the animal waste to the processing mechanism.
Abstract: A collapsible cellular insulation panel for use with mobile shelters is provided. The panel comprises first and second outer sheets with a plurality of intermediate thin flexible membranes. The membranes are secured along first and second edges to inner surfaces of the outer sheets. The membranes are attached to adjacent membranes along strips that are parallel to and intermediate the first and second membrane edges. The interconnected membranes form cells that trap insulating air and break up convective currents between the outer sheets. Supported from underneath on a horizontal surface, the membranes lay substantially flat, such that a thickness of the panel substantially equals the sum of the thicknesses of the membranes and outer sheets. The panel is thus well adapted for use with mobile shelters, because it occupies little volume in the collapsed state.
Abstract: A prosthetic foot including a ground-engaging base in the form of a generally planar and resiliently flexible foot bed which extends between two or more platforms to form one or more flexible hinges therebetween. The platforms include a toe platform, a mid-section platform and a heel platform. A support shank is disposed above the platforms so as to be generally positioned above an ankle area of the foot. A first spring extends from the toe platform to the support shank. A second spring extends from the support shank to the mid-section platform. A third spring extends from the support shank to the heel platform. Typically, the springs are curvilinear springs.
Abstract: A latex for dip molding which comprises a latex obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture in the presence of alkyl benzene sulfonate containing, based on 100 parts by weight of the monomer mixture, at least 10.0 parts by weight of a C13-20 alkyl benzene sulfonate can be used for production of a high-quality dip molded product that is excellent in oil resistance and mechanical strength, has uniform film thickness, soft feeling to the skin and no pinholes and no shrinkage, and assumes anti-stickiness on the surface thereof after dip molding, as required in medical gloves and fingerstalls etc.
Abstract: An inflatable boom for space applications, and a methods of folding and deploying a boom are disclosed. The boom comprises a membrane having a substantially tapered cylindrical shape. A wide end of the membrane is attached to a base, and a narrow end of the membrane is attached to a mandrel.
