Abstract: A system is provided that includes a mobile user device that executes an application that determines a skintone of a user, and determines and transmits a recipe for generating a target foundation that is based on a combination of a plurality of separate foundation ingredients that are associated with the skintone of the user. The system includes a dispensing device configured to receive the transmitted recipe from the mobile user device and dispense each of the plurality of separate foundation ingredients onto a common dispensing surface such that when the dispensed amounts of each of the plurality of separate foundation ingredients is blended on the dispensing surface, the target foundation is achieved. The mobile user device is configured to determine a skintone of the user based on features in a detected face of the user in a self-taken image of the user that is captured by a camera of the mobile user device.

Abstract: A valve system comprises: a valve body; a valve cap; and a valve plug between the valve body and valve cap is compressed radially and axially, and a central bore extends wholly through the valve body and valve cap and partially through the valve plug. The valve system is welded to a packet which can contain a hair color formula. One or more of the packets are then used in a cartridge compatible with a dispensing device.

Abstract: A computer system obtains a digital 3-dimensional model of a body surface, such as a human face. Portions of the surface correspond to reference points in the model. The system obtains image data of a personal care device in use as well as image data of the surface on which the model is based. The system calculates a relative location of the device relative to the reference points based on the image data of the surface. The system determines a true position of the device with respect to the surface based on the image data of the device in use, known physical dimensions of the device, and its relative location, even when the device is partially occluded from view. The system may, based on the true position of the device, cause device to perform actions such as application of a cosmetic or administration of a skin therapy.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and techniques herein relates to determining directions in GAN latent space and obtaining disentangled controls over GAN output semantics, for example, to enable use of such to generating synthesized images such as for use to train another model or create an augmented reality The methods, apparatus and techniques herein, in accordance with embodiments, utilize the gradient directions of auxiliary networks to control semantics in GAN latent codes. It is shown that minimal amounts of labelled data with sizes as small as 60 samples can be used, which data can be obtained quickly with human supervision. It is also shown herein, in accordance with embodiments, to select important latent code channels with masks during manipulation, resulting in more disentangled controls.
