Abstract: Our invention is related to a pop-up bed frame. Aspects of our invention include a bed-frame positioning assembly for raising and lowering an upper frame in a controlled manner. A bed-frame positioning assembly generally includes a set of scissor arms that is operatively coupled to a biasing member. Force exerted on the set of scissor arms by the biasing member either opens or closes the set of scissor arms, thereby either raising or lowering an upper frame coupled thereto.

Abstract: A quilting machine has at least one needle and looper set for forming chain-stitched patterns on a thick multilayered material such as a mattress ticking, preferably a panel of the continuous web clamped stationary on a frame. The stitch forming elements are mounted on separate heads that move independently transversely relative to the panel on a bridge that moves longitudinally relative to the panel. The bridge is longitudinally moved by a servo and the heads are transversely moved on the bridge by separate linear servos. The needle and looper are each driven by a linear servo having an armature to which the element is directly fixed to reciprocate without intervening mechanical linkage assemblies. A controller drives the servos to chain-stitch patterns, differentially move the heads transversely to account for transverse needle deflection and to phase the needle and looper to compensate for longitudinal needle deflection.

Abstract: A computer docking station is provided for supporting and electrically coupling to a portable computer that includes a docking connector and an aperture at least partly defining a carrying handle for the computer. The docking station includes a body with a cradle portion configured to support a portion of the computer and having a connector operable to electrically couple with the docking connector of the computer. The body further includes an arm portion sized and configured to be received in the aperture in the computer. A latching member is coupled with the arm portion and is movable between a first position relative to the arm portion, in which the arm portion can be inserted into or removed from the aperture in the portable computer, and a second position relative to the arm portion, in which the arm portion cannot be removed from the aperture in the portable computer.

Abstract: An adjustable bed includes an articulated deck comprising head, seat, leg and foot deck boards hingedly joined together and supported from a frame movable relative to a stationary base. An actuator assembly, including a motor driven actuator operatively coupled by snap-fit connectors to the frame, inclines at least one of the deck boards.

Abstract: A rocker chair base assembly employs a set of unitary composite cam members to enable a user to engage in a rocking motion with a chair mounted over the assembly. Each cam member presents a rigid body with a set of laterally projecting sleeves. A first set of angle cross members serve to interconnect longitudinal rails on which the cam members reside, and a second set of angle cross members serve to interconnect adjacent cam members. Specifically, the laterally projecting sleeves of each cam member present a mating angle profile for slidably receiving therein and securely attaching with longitudinal end regions of the second set of angle cross members.

Abstract: A support system comprises a hub comprising a channel, a leg comprising a finger that slideably engages the channel, and a washer that prevents the finger from disengaging the channel, wherein a multi-dimensional force is exerted that tightens the connection therebetween when the hub, the leg, and the washer are connected together. A method of connecting a support system for an article of furniture comprises inserting a finger of a leg into a channel of a hub to form a mating connection therebetween, connecting a washer to the hub to maintain the finger within the channel, and exerting a multi-dimensional force to secure the leg to the hub.

Abstract: A method for making antimicrobial rebonded carpet pad includes mixing zinc pyrithione with a polyol to form an antimicrobial polyol mixture concentrate, blending the antimicrobial polyol mixture concentrate with a binder stream, mixing the binder with foam particles and curing the binder. The percentage of zinc pyrithione mixed with the polyol and the addition ratio of the antimicrobial polyol mixture concentrate with the binder stream are selected to provide an overall concentration of zinc pyrithione in the binder of at least about 7500 ppm. The particles and binder are cured into a block and sliced to form carpet pad.

Abstract: A tilting device for a reclining chair including a support base that can be affixed to at least one pedestal, a mounting body for the back of a seat which is articulated on said support base rotatably around a first axis essentially orthogonal to said pedestal, a mounting plate for the seat of said surface of said seat which has its front end and back end rotatably articulated around a respective hinge axis generally parallel to said first axis respectively to said support base and to said mounting body, elastic means of thrust acting along a direction generally orthogonal to said first axis and having a first end acting on said support base and a second end acting on said mounting body and blocking means of said mounting body in at least two different angles relative to said support base and acting in opposition to said elastic means of thrust, said mounting plate assuming two corresponding different angles.

Abstract: An bedding apparatus is provided that allows a user the ability to control a bedroom environment using one selectable control. The apparatus includes an adjustable bedding unit and a computing unit coupled to the adjustable bedding unit. A number of controllable electronic appliances, having an effect on the bedroom environment, are electrically coupled to the computing unit. These electronic appliances are capable of being controlled by the computing unit. A user interface control unit is coupled to the computing unit. The user interface presents the user with a number of user-selectable settings that cause an adjustment in the position of the adjustable bed and at least one of the electronic appliances.

Abstract: A reclining seating unit includes: a seat; a backrest, the backrest including a frame having a top edge; a reclining mechanism attached to the seat and backrest that moves the seat and backrest between upright and reclined positions; a headrest including a headrest panel; and a headrest mechanism attached to the backrest and the headrest. The headrest mechanism comprises a plurality of pivotally interconnected links and is configured to move the headrest between a retracted position, in which the headrest panel is generally horizontally disposed and overlies the top edge of the backrest frame, and an extended position, in which the headrest panel is vertically disposed and is separated from the top edge of the backrest frame. Movement of the seating unit from the upright position to a reclined position moves the headrest from the retracted position to the extended position.

Abstract: The invention relates to a thin profile adjustable lumbar support system, particularly for use in automotive seat backs and other equipment used for sitting and reclining. The lumbar support system is assembled utilizing injection molding and overmolding technology to form some components and connect other components.

Abstract: A seating product, such as a chair, has a frame. The frame defines the seating area and back area of the seating product. A series flexible straps extend across the seating area and back area. In a similar fashion, a series of spring supports extend over the flexible straps and the seating and back areas. The straps and the spring supports hold an inflatable bladder in the lumbar region of the back area. The straps and the spring supports in the seating area hold another inflatable bladder in the seating area. The bladders are coupled to a pump controllable to inflate and deflate the bladders. When deflated, the seating product has a suspension and feel like that of traditional seating products. The bladders can be selectively and individually inflated to provide a customized support in the seating product. The flexible straps provide a suspension surface for the air bladders.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for manufacturing sinuous springs wherein each spring comprises a discrete length of sinuous spring wire having parallel straight bar segments interconnected at their opposite ends by oppositely directed curved connecting segments. This apparatus is operable to adjust the length of the sinuous spring wires exiting the machine without turning off or stopping the machine. An operator need only rotate a handle outside a housing of the machine to increase or decrease the length of the sinuous spring wires exiting the machine.

Abstract: A storage rack includes at least one first support beam at a first end of the storage rack and at least one second support beam at a second, opposite end of the storage rack wherein the support beams are spaced apart to define a storage area. A flue system for use with the storage rack includes first and second brackets. The first bracket is coupled to the first support beam and the second bracket is coupled to the second support beam. The first side panel extends between the first and second ends of the storage rack, and includes a first end removably coupled to the first bracket and a second end removably coupled to the second bracket. A second side panel extends between the first and second ends of the storage rack, and includes a first end removably coupled to the first bracket and a second end removably coupled to the second bracket. The first and second side panels are spaced apart to define a passageway extending through the storage rack.

Abstract: Adjustment device for chairs, comprising a back support capable of rotating around a shaft fastened to a support base, said support for the backrest being provided with a blocking plate having a plurality of openings, an insert capable of limited movement in a defined track in the support base to engage and disengage said openings, and an actuator connected to said insert, in which the actuator is operated by a rod connected to a handle that can be operated by the user, said actuator being movable between a release position and a lock position, in which said insert is selectively engaged in one of said openings.

Abstract: A stackable wire core assembly for a bedding foundation which may be nestably stacked with numerous other such assemblies for transportation, thereby avoiding the need to compress and tie the assembly for shipping. The wire core assembly includes an upper wire grid including a border wire and support wires extending between the ends of the border wire. Each support wire has resilient portions extending downwardly from the plane of the upper wire grid, each resilient portion having a flat bottom adapted to be secured to a wooden base frame and curved arms extending upwardly from opposed ends of the flat bottom.

Abstract: A chain-stitch multi-needle quilting machine and method provide for driving needles and loopers independently or out of phase, particularly during the starting of stitching sequences. Separate drive motors drive needles separately from their loopers. Alternatively, a single motor drives needles and loopers linked through a differential drive or variably-controllable linkage. At the beginning of a stitch sequence, needles and loopers are separately driven in a split start manner by which stitches can be reliably formed by advancing the loopers ahead of the needles so the looper enters a needle thread loop before the needle enters a looper thread loop. Then the needle and looper can be brought into phase later in the first stitch cycle. The split drive can solve other stitch or thread control problems.

Abstract: An adjustable storage system includes one or more adjustable storage units. The storage units generally comprise opposing panels comprising a polymer material and one or more shelf supports means that are integral with the panels. Shelves and/or drawers, also made from polymer materials, may then be disposed between the panels. Storage units may be added to the storage system by adding additional panels. In some embodiments, adjacent storage units of a storage unit may share a panel.
