Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for configuring additional CPICHs, e.g. third CPICH, fourth CPICH, etc., to support MIMO transmissions of rank three or higher. The additional CPICHs may be configured with two or more power levels. A radio network controller (RNC) sends configuration information for the additional CPICHs to a serving base station in a cell to configure the additional CPICHs. The additional CPICHs can be configured to have a fixed power level, or multiple power levels. When the additional CPICHs are configured with multiple power levels, the base station can select the appropriate power level for each CPICH in dependence on current scheduling decisions in order to reduce inference.

Abstract: An object of the embodiments is to achieve an improved reference picture handling. That is achieved by taking into account whether the reference pictures in the decoded picture buffer are long-term reference pictures or short-term reference pictures when determining how they should be marked when the information of the reference picture set is received. The reference pictures are marked as “used for short-term reference” or “used for long-term reference” in the Decoded Picture Buffer (DPB) depending on whether they are included as short-term pictures or long-term pictures in the RPS of a current picture.

Abstract: A method in a communication node for mapping symbols of an Enhanced Physical Downlink Control Channel, EPDCCH, message is provided. The EPDCCH comprises one or more aggregation levels. For each aggregation level, an EPDCCH message is constituted by a set of Control Channel Elements, eCCEs. Each eCCE is mapped to a set of multiple enhanced Resource Element Groups, eREGs, wherein each eREG is a group of Resource Elements, REs, in a Physical Resource Block, PRB, pair. The communication node maps the symbols of the EPDCCH message to the set of REs that constitutes the multiple eREGs that the set of eCCEs correspond to. The order in which the EPDCCH symbols are mapped to the set of REs is dependent on the aggregation level.

  • Publication number: 20140079147
Abstract: Multiple antennas employed at transmitting and receiving nodes can significantly increase a MIMO system capacity, especially when channel knowledge of link(s) between the transmitting and receiving nodes is available at the transmitting node. Channel knowledge may be acquired through feedback provided by the receiving node based on a plurality of common pilots transmitted by the transmitting node. The common pilots may include legacy and non-legacy pilots. If the feedback indicates that data demodulation at the receiving node can be enhanced, the transmitting node may also transmit demodulation pilot signal(s), which may coincide with the transmission of data. The receiving node can use the demodulation pilot signal(s), alone or with the common pilot signal(s), to demodulate data received from the transmitting node. The transmitting node may notify the receiving node to monitor for the demodulation pilot signal(s) through higher layer signaling and/or scheduling orders over a control channel.

  • Publication number: 20140079148
Abstract: Multiple antennas employed at transmitting and receiving nodes can significantly increase a MIMO system capacity, especially when the geometry of the receiving node is high. The transmitting node can determine geometry by transmitting common pilots (which may include legacy and non-legacy common pilots) and receiving feedback from the receiving node based on the common pilots. The geometry can also be determined through measuring uplink signals from the receiving node. If the geometry is high enough, the transmitting node may transmit demodulation pilot(s) in addition to the common pilots. The demodulation pilot transmission may be concurrent with data transmission. The receiving node can use the demodulation pilot(s) to estimate the channel for demodulating the data received from the transmitting node. The transmitting node may notify the receiving node to monitor for the demodulation pilot(s) through a configuration message sent over a control channel.
