Patent number: 8676240Abstract: Mechanisms for efficient transmission of large amount of download data from a base station to a user equipment in a multi-carrier that minimizes power consumption on the user equipment are described. When multiple component carriers are to be used to transmit the download data, the base station informs the user equipment. The base station transmits on the anchor carriers without wait after informing the user equipment and transmits on the non-anchor carriers after waiting a predetermined delay. The predetermined delay provides time to allow the user equipment to activate the receiving resources and be ready to receive the download data over the non-anchor carriers. In this manner, the user equipment can be in a power conservation mode and activate the receiver resources only when needed.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2008Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Bengt Lindoff, Erik Dahlman, Stefan Parkall

Publication number: 20140073314Abstract: A method of operating a network node (130) to control measurements by a UE (110) in a communications system, includes communicating a measurement configuration message to the UE (110) that configures a measurement that is to be performed by the UE (110) to generate a measurement report. The measurement report is received from the UE (110). The measurement configuration message can be communicated as an explicit indication to the UE (110) to proceed with performing the measurement defined by the measurement configuration message. The measurement configuration message can define a reporting criteria that triggers the UE (110) to communicate the measurement report when the reporting criteria is fulfilled. The reporting criteria may be a threshold value that the UE (110) compares to the measurement to determine whether to communicate the measurement report. Related methods of operating a UE (110) and corresponding network node (130) and UE (110) apparatuses are disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2013Publication date: March 13, 2014Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Jose Luis Pradas, Lena Melin, Sofia Brismar

Publication number: 20140073368Abstract: An aggressor base station (22-1) herein performs downlink interference coordination with one or more victim base stations (22-2, 22-3) in a radio communication network (10). Such coordination is performed for each of one or more iterations. For any given iteration, the aggressor (22-1) sends a message (28-2) to a victim (22-2) that indicates, for each of one or more downlink resources (26), whether the aggressor (22-1) promises to protect that resource (26) from interference by not transmitting on the resource (26) with a transmit power above a threshold (TH2). The victim (22-2) schedules downlink transmissions to one or more user equipments (16) on resources (26) that, according to the message (28-2), are protected from interference. Based on monitoring for interference to those transmissions, though, the victim (22-2) generates and sends to the aggressor (22-1) feedback (30-2) that generally requests an increase or decrease of the threshold (TH2).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2012Publication date: March 13, 2014Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Oumer Teyeb, Angelo Centonza
