  • Patent number: 8596992
Abstract: A pump system has a rotatory shaft and a rotatory drive arrangement coupled to the rotatory shaft for applying rotatory energy thereto. First through fourth pump arrangements are coupled to the rotatory shaft, each pump arrangement pumping a pulse of air during each rotation of the rotatory shaft, the first, second, third, and fourth pump arrangements pumping a corresponding pulse of air sequentially during each rotation of the rotatory shaft. The rotatory shaft has a first and second ends, and a central region therebetween where an electric motor is coaxially arranged. The first and third pump arrangements are coupled to the first end of the rotatory shaft, and the second and fourth pump arrangements are coupled to the second end of the rotatory shaft. Angularly displaced eccentric couplers couple the pump arrangements to the respective ends of the rotatory shaft.

  • Patent number: 8599952
Abstract: Uplink overhead is significantly reduced in a MU-COMP wireless communication network by exploiting the dissimilarity of received signal strength in signals transmitted by geographically distributed transmit antennas, as seen by receiving UEs. Each UE calculates a quantized normalization measure of channel elements for a channel weakly received from a first transmitter to that for a channel strongly received from a second transmitter. The quantized normalization measure may be modeled as a ratio of complex Gaussian variables, and quantized in phase and amplitude by making simplifying assumptions. The ratios are quantized, and transmitted to the network using far fewer bits than would be required to transmit the full channel state information. The network uses the quantized normalization measures to set the transmitter weights.

  • Patent number: 8598961
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transition arrangement comprising two surface-mountable waveguide parts and a dielectric carrier material with a metallization and a ground plane provided on a respective first main side and second main side Surface-mountable waveguide parts comprise a first wall, a second wall, and a third wall, which second and third walls are arranged to contact a part of the metallization, all the walls together essentially forming a U-shape, the surface-mountable waveguide parts also comprising respective bend parts. The metallization on the first main side is removed such that a first aperture and a second aperture are formed, the apertures being enclosed by a frame of via holes electrically connecting the ground plane with the metallization, the bend parts being fitted such that the apertures permit passage of a microwave signal propagating via the bend parts. Then the dielectric carrier material itself acts as a waveguide transition between the first aperture and the second aperture.

  • Patent number: 8598528
Abstract: A bolometric array detector for detecting electromagnetic radiation in a predetermined range of infrared wavelengths includes a substrate; an array of bolometric micro-plates for detecting the radiation suspended above the substrate by support arms; and metallic reflectors formed on the substrate underneath the micro-plates to reflect that portion of the radiation which has passed through said micro-plates without being absorbed by the latter. For each micro-plate, a corresponding reflector includes a first part located underneath the micro-plate which extends as a second part not positioned underneath the micro-plate. At least the second part has surface texturing in a repeating pattern for coupling a portion of incident radiation on the second part to a guided wave that propagates towards the first part of the reflector positioned underneath micro-plate.

  • Publication number: 20130318594
Abstract: A host computer supports a virtual guest system running thereon. The host system has a firewall that prevents it from communicating directly with the Internet, except with predetermined trusted sites. The virtual guest runs on a hypervisor, and the virtual guest comprises primarily a browser program that is allowed to contact the Internet freely via an Internet access connection that is completely separate from the host computer connection, such as a dedicated network termination point with its specific Internet IP address, or by tunneling through the host machine architecture to reach the Internet without exposing the host system. The virtual guest system is separated and completely isolated by an internal firewall from the host, and the guest cannot access any of the resources of the host computer, except that the guest can initiate cut, copy and paste operations that reach the host, and the guest can also request print of documents.

  • Publication number: 20130315257
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and a node for energy efficient routing and switching in a communication network. When determining the best path from an originating node to a destination node, current routing or switching protocols use route selection metrics based on the bandwidth of the link interface. Certain paths are however consuming more power that others which can result in traffic flowing over a high power consuming and long distance path, because this is the best path based on the existing metrics. The present invention overcomes this by introducing a node and a method to switch data also using energy consumption metrics. These metrics can be based on the power consumption in link interfaces, the links and in the node.
