Abstract: The invention relates to a device which makes it possible to establish a horizontal electrical connection between at least two bonding pads. This device comprises horizontal carbon nanotubes which link the vertical walls of said bonding pads and the bonding pads are made by stacking layers of at least two materials, one of which catalyzes growth of the nanotubes and the other of which acts as a spacer between the layers of material which catalyzes growth of the nanotubes.
Abstract: In a communication system using HARQ, the problem of false ACK detection when no ACK/NACK feedback is transmitted is solved sent by varying the reliability of the scheduling information transmitted to the user terminal on a downlink control channel depending on whether the user terminal is expected to use a first or second uplink channel for sending ACK/NACK feedback. When the user terminal is expected to use the first channel to send ACK/NACK feedback, the base station transmits scheduling information to the user terminal with normal reliability. When the user terminal is expected to send ACK/NACK feedback on the second uplink channel, the base station transmits the signaling information to the user terminal with enhanced reliability. The reliability of the signaling information can be increased, for example, by increasing the transmit power on the downlink control channel, increasing the aggregation level, or a combination thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of thinning a block transferred to a substrate. According to the invention, the method includes depositing a stop layer at least onto the substrate and in a way adjacent to and contiguous with the transferred block. The stop layer is made out of material of greater resistance or hardness than the material of the transferred block and of smaller thickness than that of the transferred block. The method further includes actuating the thinning of the transferred block. The thinning time is pre-programmed as a function of a predetermined speed of thinning the transferred block, the thinning time being selected so that the thinning also attacks the stop layer.
Abstract: Concentrating particles in a turbulent gas flow may include receiving, in a receptacle, a turbulent gas flow that includes particles. The concentration of particles in a gas flow exiting the receptacle at a first port is increased as compared with a concentration of the particles in the gas flow received by the receptacle. The increased concentration of particles is accomplished by removing a portion of the gas flow by using a second port, and fluidly communicating the gas flow through a tube in the receptacle. The tube has a smaller diameter at the end of the tube at which the gas flow exits the tube than diameter at the end of the tube at which the gas flow is received.

Abstract: The heating apparatus comprises a stratified and flattened body, said body comprising, from the centre outwards, two first layers of laminar electricity conducting elements coupled together by interposing one centre layer of first laminar insulating means; two second layers of second laminar insulating means covering said two first layers; at least one third layer of laminar means covering said second layers, said second layers comprising sheets of adhesive material that can be removed by pulling them from said first layers.
Abstract: A method, a mobile station and a computer program for controlling uplink transmit power of a mobile station capable of operating with scheduled uplink data transmissions. Uplink transmit power level for the mobile station is updated (304) based on received (303) uplink power control commands. Upon detecting a change (301) in uplink scheduled status for the mobile station, the process of updating (304) the uplink transmit power level is adjusted to account for the detected change in uplink scheduled status.

Abstract: A method of operating a user terminal connected to the Internet comprises: prior to sending an email from the user terminal to a recipient, sending an identifier of the email content and a telephone number to a server; receiving a verification code from the server via the Internet; receiving an authentication string from the server via the Internet; including the authentication string and the telephone number in the email; and sending the email to the recipient.
Abstract: A header plate assembly for a heat exchanger includes a plate having a tube side and a tank side. A plurality of apertures extends through the plate. Each aperture has a first portion on the tube side of the plate, the first portion having a first cross-dimension, and a second portion adjacent the first portion and having a second cross-dimension that is smaller than the first cross-dimension, with a first shoulder being formed between the first and second portions. Each of a plurality of collars has an aperture extending therethrough, with a portion of each collar being received in the first portion of one of the apertures in the plate. A seal is positioned in each of the first portions of the apertures and between one of the collars and one of the first shoulders. A plurality of fasteners secures the collars to the plate.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a link layer control protocol implementation in a communication system. To improve operative efficiency of the link layer control protocol implementation it is suggested to delay issuance of a retransmission request for a missing data unit during a retransmission delay time period. Therefore, according to the present invention a retransmission request is not issued immediately upon detection of a missing data unit. Therefore, the present invention avoids issuance of false alarm for the missing data unit when it is received during the retransmission delay period.

Abstract: Methods, a client node and a key server node are provided for distributing from the key server node, and acquiring at the client node, self-healing encryption keys. The client node and the key server node are part of a key distribution network that comprises a plurality of client nodes. An encryption key is obtained from a combination of a forward key with a backward key, wherein the backward key is distributed at a time separated from the time of the forward key by a self-healing period. The forward and backward keys are updated in a multicast rekey message, at a given time, encrypted by an encryption key defined for a previous time. Optionally, when a sibling of the client node joins or leaves the key distribution network, a unicast rekey message is used to renew the forward and backward keys at the client node.
Abstract: A method of dynamically adjusting the buffer delay of an adaptive jitter buffer of a network node receiving packets of a media stream from a packet switched network. The method comprises inserting packets arriving to the network node into the jitter buffer and executing a jitter buffering procedure once every Trepin, wherein Trepin is equal to the jitter buffer play-out interval. Executing the jitter buffer procedure involves updating a jitter protection time, Tjit, wherein Tjit defines a current target value for the maximum buffering delay, on the basis of the variation of the number of pending packets, N in the jitter buffer.

Abstract: The invention concerns a microfluidic device for the controlled movement of liquid. The controlled-movement device according to the invention comprises a microchannel (10) filled with a first liquid (F1) and a fluid (F2) forming a first interface (I1) with the first liquid (F1), or forming a first interface (I1) with the first liquid (F1) and a second interface (I1) with a second liquid (F3) situated downstream of said fluid (F2), and means of moving the first liquid (F1) by electrowetting. A control system is provided for controlling the movement of the first liquid (F1) according to the position of an interface (I1, 13) of the fluid (F2).
Abstract: When a mobile station (MS) seeks access to a public land mobile network (PLMN) via an unlicensed or generic access networks (GAN) it first registers with a default GAN. If the default GAN is unable to serve the MS at its current location, it redirects the MS to other GANs serving the same of different PLMNs. However, when using the existing registration and redirection process, an MS has no means of knowing what services are provided by a specific combination of GAN and PLMN. In accordance with the present invention this is achieved by indicating for each PLMN and serving GANC an operation mode supported by the GANC. This operation mode being indicative of the interface used for communication between the GANC and PLMN it serves.
Abstract: In one aspect, the invention provides apparatuses and methods for wirelessly transmitting application data utilizing priority information for each radio link control (RLC) data block transmitted. Advantageously, the application data with a relatively high transmission priority is not substantially delayed by the transmission of application data with substantially lower transmission priorities.
