Abstract: The device comprises a first actuating bump made from electrically conducting material with a first contact surface. A second actuating bump made from electrically conducting material is facing the first actuating bump. An electrostatic actuating circuit moves the actuating bumps with respect to one another between a first position and another position. The actuating circuit comprises a device for applying a higher potential on the second actuating bump than on the first actuating bump. A film of electrically insulating material performs electric insulation between the first and second bumps. The electrically insulating material film comprises an interface with a positive ion source and is permeable to said positive ions.

  • Publication number: 20120224469
Abstract: A method of detecting media plane faults within a communications network. The method comprises, following the establishment of a media plane connection between first and second end point nodes within the network, where the connection transits one or more intermediate nodes within the media plane, sending session test requests from the first end point towards the second end point across a supervision session established over the media plane, and sending session test acknowledgements from the second end point to the first end point, the session test acknowledgements identifying a first border of the supervision session. The method further comprises, in the event of a media plane fault, responding to the sending of a further session test request by returning a further session test acknowledgement identifying a second border of the supervision session. The media plane fault can be detected by comparing the first and second supervision session borders contained in session test acknowledgements.

  • Publication number: 20120224574
Abstract: The invention proposes a novel method for handling acknowledgement messages between a first protocol layer (L1) and a second protocol layer (L2) in a network node operating as a relay network node (RN). The first protocol layer (L1) is lower with respect to the second protocol layer (L2). The acknowledgement messages (ACK) are related to Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) processes and the Relay Node (RN) is engaged in an Uplink transmission towards a network access node (eNB). The method comprises a step (10) of receiving a first grant indication by said network access node (eNB) that an Uplink Transmission is granted at said first protocol layer entity (L1) and a step of sending (100) towards said second protocol layer entity (L1) an indication of Acknowledgement (ACK) after receiving a first grant indication. The invention also proposes a corresponding Relay Node (RN).

  • Patent number: 8260613
Abstract: A double talk detector for controlling the echo path estimation in a telecommunication system by indicating when a received coded speech signal is dominated by a non-echo signal; i.e., that so-called double talk exists. This is determined by extracting LSPs from a coded speech frame of the received coded speech signal when the signal power exceeds a first threshold value, converting each of said extracted LSPs into LSFs, and calculating the distance between each two adjacent LSFs. For each distance that is smaller than a second threshold, a spectral peak is located between the two LSFs, and it is determined whether said spectral peak is an echo or not. When a predetermined number of non-echo spectral peaks are located in the received speech signal, double talk will be indicated, and the echo path estimation may be disabled.

  • Patent number: 8260374
Abstract: Mobile User Equipment (UE) is operated in a first mode in which radio functions are enabled. In response to a predetermined condition, the UE is operated in a power saving mode involving disabling all radio functionality for a first period of time during which no connection is maintained with a cellular communication system serving node. After the first period of time, the UE ascertains whether any attempts were made to contact it during the first period of time and if so whether any of the attempted contacts is characterized by an attribute that matches a predefined attribute. If any of the attempted contacts is characterized by the attribute that matches the predefined attribute, then a user alarm is activated. If the response to the user alarm has been made, then the UE is again operated in the first mode; otherwise, the UE is again operated in the power saving mode.

  • Patent number: 8259875
Abstract: A technique for determining a frequency offset between components of a communication network based on a Constant Amplitude Zero Auto-Correlation (CAZAC) sequence is described. A method implementation of this technique comprises a provision of a set of correlation signals at different frequencies, with each correlation signal being indicative of a specific frequency offset hypothesis and comprising the CAZAC sequence. Once a synchronization signal comprising the CAZAC sequence is received, this synchronization signal is correlated with each of the correlation signals to obtain a correlation result for each frequency offset hypothesis. In a next step, at least one of the frequency offset hypotheses is selected based on a comparison of the correlation results. The frequency offset may then be determined based on the at least one selected frequency offset hypothesis.

  • Patent number: 8259827
Abstract: Methods and apparatus by which receiving stations or other communication network nodes can receive quick paging code words assigned by transmitting stations to the receiving stations. A receiving station can estimate the characteristics of the channel to the transmitting station based on a downlink-frame's preamble and use correlation to detect the presence of an assigned code word. The receiving station can suppress interference from other transmitting stations in the correlation operation based on the nature of the interference signal. When the receiving station knows an interfering signal from another transmitting station, the receiving station can subtract the interfering signal before carrying out the correlation operation.
