Abstract: Fissionable materials are distinguished from other high-effective atomic number materials by producing dual-energy x-ray radiation sufficient to cause fission in fissionable materials and directing the dual-energy x-ray radiation sufficient to cause fission in fissionable materials towards a physical region. X-ray radiation and a product of fission from the physical region are sensed. An absorption of the dual-energy x-ray radiation by the physical region is determined based on the sensed x-ray radiation, and whether the physical region includes fissionable material is determined based on the presence of a product of fission.

Abstract: A solution in a telecommunications infrastructure network for creating a secondary PDP context for a time critical application, ensuring that no packets are lost by masquerading a primary PDP context as the secondary PDP context. This may be achieved by for instance sending a fake TEID or including a filter in a PDP creation request for the secondary PDP context and updating the GGSN with a correct TEID or a new Traffic Flow Template (TFT) when the secondary PDP context is established.

Abstract: The batteries of at least one battery subset are partially and preferably simultaneously charged; during this partial charging, electrical parameters representative of a coup de fouet effect on charging are measured to enable the extent of discharge of each of the batteries of the subset to be analyzed; the batteries are then charged sequentially with an order of priority that depends on the extent of discharge of the different batteries; priority is preferably given to charging the most extensively discharged batteries.
Abstract: An electronic assembly retaining system provides a secure mount for an electronic assembly, such as an avionics assembly, while being lockable and releasable via manual rotation of a single retainer stem that may be positioned in a readily-accessible location. The retainer stem may include threaded shaft and a detent system to resist inadvertent rotation of the stem. The system includes a housing that at least partially encloses the electronic assembly and which includes a receiving element for receiving a distal end portion of the retainer stem, which is movable between engaging and disengaging positions.

Abstract: A method for quick temperature compensation for an electric soldering iron is provided. The electric soldering iron includes a static temperature control circuit and a dynamic temperature control circuit. Amount of the static temperature control mainly depends on a temperature setting signal, a real-time temperature detecting signal and a temperature additional signal, while the dynamic temperature control is made on the basis of Kalman digital filter principle. During the dynamic temperature control, a differentially amplified temperature regulation and control signal is identified by a heat transfer function of the soldering iron head, and an temperature additional compensation amount is calculated and output, only when the heat transfer function of the soldering iron head is conformed.

Said antenna also comprises at least one second winding, whose axis is arranged in a parallel position to the plane of the substrate and which is wound-up about a thin layer made of high magnetically permeable material and arranged in a parallel position with respect to the plane of the substrate. A third winding, whose axis is perpendicular to the first and second windings and which is wound-up about an additional thin layer can be provided. Said additional thin layer is arranged in a parallel position to the plane of the substrate and is made of high magnetically permeable material.

Abstract: The present invention concerns an apparatus (1?) for NMR spectroscopy and/or NMR imaging of a sample. The apparatus comprises a static probe comprising an outer coil for excitation of nuclei of the sample by generating an incident radio frequency field at the Larmor frequency of the nuclei, and for reception of a return radio frequency field emitted by the sample, and a sensitive inner coil (6a?) which is mounted closely around or in contact with the sample container and which is wirelessly coupled to the outer coil by an electromagnetic radio frequency field. The sensitive inner coil is embedded in an inner spinning rotor (2) which is rotatively mounted inside the static probe and which is integral with the sample container, so that the filling factor and the radio frequency field amplitude in the sensitive coil are maximized.
Abstract: A multi-domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display that does not require physical features on the substrate (such as protrusions and ITO slits) is disclosed. Each pixel of the MVA LCD is subdivided into color components, which are further divided into color dots. The drive component areas, i.e. where switching elements and storage capacitors are located, are converted to associated dots by adding an electrode that can be electrically biased. The voltage polarity of the color dots and associated dots are arranged so that fringe fields in each color dot causes multiple liquid crystal domains in each color dot. Specifically, the color dots and associated dots of a pixel are arranged so that associated dots have opposite polarity as compared to neighboring color dots.

Abstract: In a Coordinated Multi-point (CoMP) system, the base station (BS) in each serving cell (or sector) is allowed to use not only its own antennas, but also the antennas of neighboring BSs to transmit to mobile terminals in the serving cell to form a floating CoMP cell. The serving BS in each floating CoMP cell computes tentative linear precoding weights for transmissions from the coordinating BSs in the floating CoMP cell to users in the serving cell of the floating CoMP cell. The serving BS determines the power availability for transmit antennas in the floating CoMP cell that are shared with other floating CoMP cells, and scales the tentative precoding weights based on the power availability of the shared transmit antennas to determine final precoding weights so that the power constraints of the shared transmit antennas will not be violated.
