Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for proving protection in a connection oriented packet switched communications network. Embodiments of the invention disclose detecting a fault in a path of the network, the path comprising at least one network resource, determining a new path for the traffic, restoring the traffic to the new path, and determining where the fault has occurred in the path using the management plane to correlate the fault with the at least one network resource using a configuration map of the network. The embodiments of the invention provide for dynamic protection using a management plane in the event of a failure in the network.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to silicone based cosmetic compositions comprising at least at least one silicone amine, at least one anionic silicone and a cosmetically acceptable carrier such as water and other components. The compositions are useful for treating keratinous substrates such as hair, for example, for styling, conditioning and/or improving the manageability of hair. The present disclosure also relates to silicone based hair coloring compositions comprising at least one silicone amine, at least one anionic silicone, at least one colorant, a cosmetically acceptable carrier; and optionally, at least one oxidizing agent. The compositions are useful for coloring hair.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the method and use of reef coral fluorescent proteins in making transgenic red, green and yellow fluorescent zebrafish. Preferably, such fluorescent zebrafish are fertile and used to establish a population of transgenic zebrafish and to provide to the ornamental fish industry for the purpose of marketing. Thus, new varieties of ornamental fish of different fluorescence colors from a novel source are developed.

Abstract: Endovascular nerve monitoring devices and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A nerve monitoring system configured in accordance with a particular embodiment of the present technology can include a shaft having a proximal portion and a distal portion and a nerve monitoring assembly at the distal portion. The shaft is configured to locate the distal portion intravascularly at a treatment site. The nerve monitoring assembly can include a bipolar stimulation electrode array and a bipolar recording electrode array disposed distal to the bipolar stimulation electrode assembly.

Abstract: A network element in a network is provided. The network element includes a receiver that receives a content request message. The received content request message indicates content to be transmitted to a device. The network element includes a processor in communication with the receiver. The processor generates a modified content request message by inserting identification data into the content request message. The identification data identifies at least one of a plurality of network nodes in the network. The network element includes a transmitter that transmits the modified content request message to a content distribution network server. The receiver further receives a redirect message that is based on the transmitted modified content request message. The redirect message identifies that a one of the plurality of network nodes is a cache location storing the indicated content.

Abstract: The instant invention refers to an antibacterial peptide with all aminoacids in D-configuration, possessing strong antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria and Candida strains. The peptide can be in linear form or multimerised on a skeleton of polyacrylamide, of dextrane units or on a skeleton of ethylene glycol units. The peptide is resistant to proteolysis especially when synthesized in the tetra-branched form where identical peptide sequences are linked together by an appropriate molecular scaffold.

Abstract: A method includes receiving first, second, and third content streams at a first device via a distribution system. The second content stream is selected by a second device and the third content stream is selected by a third device. The method also includes sending data to a display device to concurrently present the first, second, and third content streams and first, second, and third regions, respectively. A content control and buffer module is instructed to request a fourth content stream in response to receiving a request made at the second device. The method further includes sending data to the display device to display the fourth content stream in the first region. In response to the request, the first content stream replaces the second content stream in the second region.

The communication signals are received from the different remote sources during conferences. A user request is also received from one of the remote sources to disable recording of one of the different communication signals. Users at multiple of the different remote sources are simultaneously authorized and enabled to begin a process to disable recording of one of the different communication signals.

Abstract: A data processing system adapted for high-speed network communications, a method for managing a network interface and a network interface for such system, are provided, in which processing of packets received over the network is achieved by embedded logic at the network interface level. Incoming packets on the network interface are parsed and classified as they are stored in a buffer memory. Functional logic coupled to the buffer memory on the network interface is enabled to access any data field within a packet in a single cycle, using pointers and packet classification information produced by the parsing and classifying step. Results of operations on the data fields in the packets are available before the packets are transferred out of the buffer memory.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a postfilter and a postfilter control to be associated with a postfilter for improving perceived quality of speech reconstructed at a speech decoder. The postfilter control comprises means for measuring stationarity of a speech signal reconstructed at a decoder, means for determining a coefficient to a postfilter control parameter based on the measured stationarity, and means for transmitting the determined coefficient to a postfilter, such that the postfilter can process the reconstructed speech signal by applying the determined coefficient to the postfilter control parameter to obtain an enhanced speech signal.

In one aspect, a method of modeling synaptic behavior includes receiving an analog input signal and transforming the analog input signal into an N-bit codeword, wherein each bit of the N-bit codeword is represented by an electronic pulse (1001). The method includes loading the N-bit codeword into a circular shift register (1002) and sending each bit of the N-bit codeword through one of N switches. Each switch applies a corresponding weight to the bit to produce a weighted bit. A signal corresponding to a summation of the weighted bits is output and represents a synaptic transfer function characterization of a binary synapse (1009).
