    Abstract: A variable color discharge lamp including a first lamp tube, a second lamp tube and a variable voltage system is provided. The first lamp tube having a first diameter has a first fluorescent powder disposed therein. The second lamp tube connected to the first lamp tube has a second diameter not equal to the first diameter. The second lamp tube has a second fluorescent powder disposed therein, wherein the second color temperature of the second fluorescent powder is not equal to the first color temperature of the first fluorescent powder. The variable voltage system provides and adjusts a common voltage of the first lamp tube and the second lamp tube. When the common voltage is adjusted, respective luminescence efficiencies of the first fluorescent powder and the second fluorescent powder vary with the common voltage, so as to adjust the mixed light color of the first and the second lamp tubes.

    Abstract: A reading method for finding if a disc is placed reversely used in an optical disc drive is provided. The optical disc drive has a spindle motor, an optical pickup head having a lens, a fine actuator and a sled actuator. Firstly, a disc is placed into the optical disc drive. Next, the spindle motor rotates the disc. After that, a laser light of the optical pickup head is shot on the disc. Next, the lens is moved such that the laser light follows a single data track. Then, a central error signal of the lens is measured continuously. Afterwards, if the central error signal increases progressively, the optical disc drive finds the disc placed reversely, and the disc is ejected from the optical disc drive.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a mechanism for guiding airflows within an optical disc drive, in which the optical disc drive comprises a chassis having a side wall and a tray for loading or unloading a disc. The guide mechanism of the present invention includes at least one guide passage which is protruded outwardly from the side wall of the chassis and has two guiding oblique surfaces at its both ends. Further, the guide passage is positioned on an extended line of a diameter of the disc normal to the side wall of the chassis. The airflows produced by the revolving disc is guided to flow through the guide passage. According to the guide mechanism the shocks, jarring, and noise of the optical disc drive is minimized.
