    Abstract: A wedge-shaped microresonator is provided that can be mounted proximate one or more wedge-shaped electro-optic components in order to construct a densely packed microlaser assembly. The wedge-shaped microresonator has first, second and third side surfaces. The wedge-shaped microresonator includes a passive Q-switch proximate the second side surface and an active gain medium proximate portions of the first and third side surfaces. The wedge-shaped microresonator also includes a reflective surface proximate each of the first, second and third side surfaces. At least one of the reflective surfaces is partially reflective, however, to then permit emission of laser signals. In addition to the wedge-shaped microresonator, a microlaser assembly is provided that also includes at least one wedge-shaped electro-optic component for receiving and modifying the laser pulses emitted by the wedge-shaped microresonator.

    Abstract: An electromechanical sensor produces an electrical signal in response to a change in a physical parameter being monitored by the sensor. An optical phase modulator is arranged such that electrical signals from the electromechanical sensor cause a phase change in optical signals propagating in the two legs of the interferometer. The phase change is obtained by forming the interferometer to have a phase modulator in each leg. Applying the electrical signal to the phase modulators, which are connected in push-pull, changes the optical path length difference between the interferometer legs and produces an optical signal that can be transmitted to a remote location. A photodetector at the remote location converts the optical signal into an electrical signal that can be processed to measure changes in the parameter. The sensors may be used singly, or a plurality of sensors may be arranged in a geophone array.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for supplying gas at a first pressure and at a second pressure. The apparatus includes a gas generating system having a gas generating system outlet. A flow switch is in communication with the gas generating system outlet and has an outlet thereof forming a gas outlet at the first pressure. A pressure regulator is in communication with the gas generating system outlet for regulating gas flowing to the gas outlet at the first pressure. A solenoid valve is electrically controlled by the flow switch and is in communication with the gas generating system outlet and has a solenoid valve outlet. A pressure intensifier is in communication with the solenoid valve for raising the pressure of the gas generated by the gas generating system for output to an outlet at a second pressure.

    Abstract: The present invention allows an additional connection to a standard medical gas cylinder valve such as a CGA-870 valve. An additional connection may be used for filling a cylinder without removing the pressure reducer, simultaneous filling while drawing through the pressure reducer, or for any other purpose that requires an additional or non-standard connection to the cylinder. The additional connection will be through an adapter that screws into the burst disc port. Some gas cylinder valves have the burst disc center line closer to the outlet centerline. This close centerline may be accommodated by offsetting the access of the first and second port to provide clearances required.

The clip ring is used for retaining a male member and a female member of an electrical connector and for forming a ground circuit between the male member and the female member of the electrical connector. The clip ring of the present invention fully engages the outside diameter of the male retaining groove and the inside diameter of the female retaining groove simultaneously. Advantageously, this eliminates the potential for discontinuities in a ground circuit in a vibrational environment. The clip ring includes an annular-shaped body having an inner wall and an outer wall where the outer wall has a plurality of circumferentially spaced slots. The outer wall has a first end circumferentially spaced from a second end wherein when the clip ring is compressed a first end and a second end are brought into contact with each other.

    Abstract: An improved optical correlator using a coherent light beam employs a method of adaptive alignment. A test pattern modulates an input spatial light modulator. The modulated beam propagates through passive transforming optical elements to a filter spatial light modulator, which is simultaneously modulated with an independently transformed frequency domain reference. The resulting correlation or coincidence of the optically transformed pattern with the independently transformed reference is processed to yield a feedback signal indicative of any optical misalignment of the optical correlator. The feedback signal drives a beam deflector to compensate by adjusting the path of the coherent beam, thereby improving and maintaining optical alignment of the correlator.

An end-face of the field-electron emitter is protected by a tunnel-thin dielectric layer containing impurities of various materials and materials having a low work function.

    Abstract: A dithered Coriolis acceleration sensor system has a proof mass that is free of feedback in the accelerometer servo loop at the dither frequency by totally notching out all feedback torque at this frequency. The proof mass relative motion is then a direct measure of the rate because there is no feedback torque to alter the proof mass response to the acceleration. The feedback modulation system according to the invention captures the Coriolis-sensor output such that the phase and gain of the signal generated from the sensor are of no concern in maintaining good scale factor.

    Abstract: A low-power wide-bandwidth klystron comprises a cathode having an electron emitting surface capable of emitting an electron beam and a collector spaced from said cathode and designed to collect the electron beam emitted from the cathode. An anode is disposed between the cathode and the collector in order to channel the electron beam into a series of drift tubes that define the electron beam path between the anode and the collector. The drift tubes define gaps in which the input cavity and output cavity interact with the electron beam. The input cavity velocity modulates the electron beam by way of a radio frequency input signal and the output cavity extracts the amplified radio frequency signal from the electron beam. The drift tubes may define additional gaps between the input cavity and output cavity for intermediate cavities that would provide additional amplification.

    Abstract: A collector structure comprises a heat sink having a cylindrical opening, a sleeve disposed within the cylindrical opening of the heat sink, and a collector core disposed within the sleeve. The sleeve is comprised of a material having a rate of thermal expansion different than that of the heat sink and is disposed in close contact with the heat sink when the collector is at an elevated operational temperature. A slight gap is defined between the collector core and the sleeve when the collector is at an ambient temperature, and the collector core is in close contact with the sleeve when the collector is at the operational temperature. The heat sink further comprises either copper or aluminum, the sleeve is comprised of molybdenum, and the collector core is comprised of a ceramic material. To manufacture the collector structure, the heat sink is heated to a temperature above the operational temperature and the sleeve is inserted into the cylindrical opening of the heat sink at the elevated temperature.

A microchannel plate with an unfilmed input face and an output face receives the electrons from the photocathode and produces secondary emission electrons which are emitted from the output face. A screen receives the secondary electrons and displays a representation of the image.
