Abstract: A cyclic process for the capture of carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from air utilizes a three-compartment electrolytic cell coupled with a hydroxide-based CO2 capture system as well as a carbonate-based CO2 capture system. Air is passed over a hydroxide compound in the hydroxide-based CO2 capture system to extract carbon dioxide from the air and produce a carbonate compound which is transferred to the carbonate-based CO2 capture system, where air is passed over the carbonate compound to extract carbon dioxide from the air and produce a bicarbonate compound. The bicarbonate is then passed into the three-compartment electrolytic cell where CO2, hydrogen and oxygen gases are separately released and the bicarbonate solution is transformed into a hydroxide solution that is reused in the hydroxide-based CO2 capture system. The flow of input compounds from one system to the other enables efficient operation of the direct air capture of carbon dioxide system.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are described herein for a power-controlling device for use with EV chargers. One or more embodiments disclosed herein may include a stand-alone device which, when installed, may reduce the likelihood of the owner of the EV charger being hit with high utility demand charges. The device may include one or more supercapacitors (e.g., supercapacitor banks, which may be series/parallel combinations) which may aid in making stored energy available during periods of peak energy demand. The supercapacitors may charge during periods of normal (e.g., non-peak) energy demand, and may discharge stored energy during periods of peak energy demand, which may reduce the likelihood of peak charges being applied. This device may appeal to property owners concerned about installing EV chargers due to the possibility of being penalized by high energy costs, and may result in an increase in the number of charging stations available to the public.
Abstract: A sanitation device includes a housing with a channel extending into the housing and a plurality of openings in the channel. A plurality of light emitting diodes emit light through the openings in the channel. A shield is coupled to the housing and a motion sensor emits and detect light through the shield when activated, such that the shield narrows a field of view of the motion sensor. The sanitation device is positioned near a common touch point with the motion sensor determining when an object is near, and has moved away from, the touch point. The plurality of light emitting diodes are activated to clean the touch point after the object moves away. The sanitation device may further include a status indicator light to provide information regarding the current state of operation of the sanitation device.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to hydrogen-selective oxygen carrier materials and methods of using hydrogen-selective oxygen carrier materials. The hydrogen-selective oxygen carrier material may comprise a core material, which includes a redox-active transition metal oxide; a shell material, which includes one or more alkali transition metal oxides; and a support material. The shell material may be in direct contact with at least a majority of an outer surface of the core material. At least a portion of the core material may be in direct contact with the support material. The hydrogen-selective oxygen carrier material may be selective to combust hydrogen in an environment that includes hydrogen and hydrocarbons.

Abstract: Aspects and implementations of the present disclosure address shortcomings of the existing technology by enabling lidar-assisted segmentation and identification of particulate matter in autonomous vehicle (AV) applications, by: obtaining, by a sensing system of the AV, a plurality of return points, each return point having one or more velocity values and one or more coordinates of a reflecting region that reflects a signal emitted by the sensing system, identifying, in view of the one or more velocity values of each of a first set of the return points of the plurality of return points, that the first set of the return points is associated with a particulate matter in an environment of the AV, and causing a driving path of the AV to be determined in view of the particulate matter.

Abstract: A semiconductor wafer has a base material. The semiconductor wafer may have an edge support ring. A grinding phase of a surface of the semiconductor wafer removes a portion of the base material. The grinder is removed from or lifted off the surface of the semiconductor wafer during a separation phase. The surface of the semiconductor wafer and under the grinder is rinsed during the grinding phase and separation phase to remove particles. A rinsing solution is dispensed from a rinsing solution source to rinse the surface of the semiconductor wafer. The rinsing solution source can move in position while dispensing the rinsing solution to rinse the surface of the semiconductor wafer. The grinding phase and separation phase are repeated during the entire grinding operation, when grinding conductive TSVs, or during the final grinding stages, until the final thickness of the semiconductor wafer is achieved.
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments relate to a combination axial fan and LED lighting system configured to fit into the footprint of a standard ceiling tile. Disclosed embodiments further include ceiling tiles with a built-in fan and/or LED lighting. The disclosed systems may include a housing container and an axial fan. The fan has a fan cavity including air diversion mechanism to direct air from the fan cavity toward the lighting and fan components. The inventions include an airflow surface to direct air existing the fan cavity along an LED light fixture. Moreover, disclosed embodiments include one or more UV light sources which irradiate contaminants as air flows through the ceiling tile.
Abstract: A manned or unmanned aircraft has an upper body and a lower body. The aircraft has a circular shape and a circular outer periphery. One or more rotor blades extend substantially horizontally outward from the main body at or about the circular outer periphery. In addition, one or more retractable control flaps are coupled to the lower body and are moved between a retracted position recessed from the outer periphery and an extended position outward of the outer periphery to engage lift blade thrust.
Abstract: A two-stage pulse tube cryocooler, having compact size, less vibration and lower manufacturing cost is disclosed, in which at least a first stage of the cryocooler is coaxial, but in which first and second stages may be coaxial by locating circular regenerators of each stage inside of corresponding annular pulse tubes. A second stage circular regenerator is installed below a first stage regenerator. This configuration allows preassembly of the regenerator assembly and a base tube assembly in one or more stages. The pulse tube, which is annular, is coaxially formed with an outside surface of the assembled regenerator assembly and an inner surface of the outer tube of the base tube assembly after installation of the regenerator assembly.
Abstract: In aspects of environment mapping based on UWB tags, a system includes ultra-wideband (UWB) tags located for association with respective objects in an environment, where each UWB tag is identified with a digital label indicative of the association with one or more of the objects. A mapping module is implemented to determine a location of each of the UWB tags in the environment, and determine relative positions of each of the UWB tags with respect to each other. The mapping module can generate a location association map of the objects in the environment based on the location and the relative position of each of the UWB tags associated with the respective objects. In an environment within a building, the mapping module can generate the location association map as a floor plan of the building, including the objects location in the building.
