  • Patent number: 10781022
Abstract: A heat-shrinkable packaging article has one or more tear initiators for initiating a manual tear that can be propagated to open a package and allow a product to be readily removed therefrom, without the use of a knife or scissors or any other implement. The tear initiators are present in a skirt and/or header of the article. The skirt and/or header has a first side and a second side. In one embodiment, some or all of the first side of the skirt and/or header can be heatset in order to reduce the shrink and curling of the skirt and/or header. This improves identification and utilization of the tear initiators by a consumer upon shrinking the packaging article around the product. In another embodiment, the skirt and/or header has a plurality of pairs of tear initiators to allow portions of the package to be torn off to expose a portion of the product that can then be sliced off while the remainder of the packaged product remains covered by a remainder of the film.

  • Patent number: 10780148
Abstract: The invention provides compositions containing hemoglobin, particularly PEGylated hemoglobin. The PEGylated hemoglobin molecule is capable of transferring oxygen or carbon monoxide bound thereto to a tissue with which it is in proximity. Exemplary PEGylated hemoglobin formulations of the invention are virally inactivated. Various compositions of the invention include deoxygenated hemoglobin, which may be conjugated with one or more water-soluble polymer. PEGylated hemoglobin includes those species in which the iron atom of the hemoglobin molecule is not bound to oxygen or any other species, and hemoglobin molecules in which a species other than oxygen, e.g., carbon monoxide, is bound to the iron atom. The compositions of the invention are formulated as hypo-, iso- or hypertonic solutions of the PEGylated hemoglobin. The compositions are of use to treat and/or ameliorate disease, injury and insult by providing for the oxygenation of tissues and/organs.

  • Patent number: 10780424
Abstract: Disclosed is a supported catalyst for the preparation of vinyl acetate monomer, a process for preparing the supported catalyst in tablet or pellet form, and a catalytic process for the manufacturing vinyl acetate using the supported catalyst. Specifically, it is shown that catalyst performance shows a strong dependence on the crush strength of the tableted or pelletized alumina support used in the process to make the catalyst, and that the crush strength of the catalyst is closely related to the porosity of the support. Catalyst activity and selectivity can be enhanced by tailoring the crush strength of the support.

  • Patent number: 10780266
Abstract: Various embodiments provide methods and systems for the biphasic iontophoretic transdermal delivery of therapeutic agents. An embodiment of a method for such delivery comprises positioning at least one electrode assembly in electrical communication with a patient's skin. The assembly includes a solution comprising a therapeutic agent which passively diffuses into the skin. A dose of agent is delivered from the assembly into the skin during a first period using a first current having a characteristic e.g., polarity and magnitude, to repel the agent out of the assembly. During a second period, a second current having a characteristic to attract the agent is used to retain the agent in the assembly such that delivery of agent into skin is minimized. A dose of agent may be delivered on demand by an input from the patient. Embodiments may be used for delivery of agents which cause adverse effects from unwanted passive diffusion.
