  • Patent number: 12137153
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes enables new sensors to be added and maintained in an Internet of Things system without upgrading firmware for the end device. A sensor abstraction layer (SAL) manages the end sensors, and a sensor definition layer (SDL) in the cloud interfaces with the SAL. Sensor definition data of a sensor connected to the end device is identified in a sensor definition data store of the SDL including sensor configuration data. The sensor configuration data is sent to the SAL, wherein the SAL is configured to collect sensor data from the sensor via a sensor interface. Sensor data is received from the SAL via an established network connection and converted into converted sensor data based on a data conversion model of the sensor definition data. The converted sensor data is then provided to an application, connected to a sensor management device, for consumption.

  • Patent number: 12134943
Abstract: A kelly valve for placement in a tubular drillstring has an inner cage, which holds a valve ball, lower valve ball seat and other valve components. A valve stem connected to the valve ball extends through a valve stem sleeve, positioned in an opening in the wall of the main body of the kelly valve. A thrust bearing of a low friction material, preferably of polyether ether ketone (PEEK), is positioned between the valve stem and the valve stem sleeve. A port in the valve ball seat permits pressure below the kelly valve to bypass a seal and act on the inside of the valve ball. A circumferential notch in the valve ball seat accommodates a circular spring, and prevents complete compression of the spring when the valve ball seat contacts an interior shoulder in the inner cage.

  • Patent number: 12136747
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a battery cell having electrode foils protruding from a cell pouch includes positioning the cell pouch in a fixture such that distal end sections of the foils extend outward from the fixture. The method includes clamping the distal end sections in a curvilinear guide clamp to cause the distal end sections to taper into an electrode foil stack, and then translating the clamp a predetermined distance toward the fixture to displace the distal end sections by the predetermined distance. The method also includes trimming the distal end sections using a trim tool, positioning a sonotrode and an anvil adjacent opposite surfaces of the stack, and ultrasonically welding the stack to a conductive lead tab using the sonotrode to thereby form a welded joint within the battery cell. The sonotrode may be multi-sided with different knurl patterns for performing different welding processes.
