Abstract: Disclosed herein are innovations for bitstreams having clean random access (CRA) pictures and/or other types of random access point (RAP) pictures. New type definitions and strategic constraints on types of RAP pictures can simplify mapping of units of elementary video stream data to a container format. Such innovations can help improve the ability for video coding systems to more flexibly perform adaptive video delivery, production editing, commercial insertion, and the like.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium for evaluating structural integrity of a gradient coil disposed in a magnetic resonance imaging system is provided. A sensor obtains a parameter reading of the gradient coil, wherein the parameter reading includes a back electromotive force (back EMF) measurement. The structural integrity of the gradient coil is determined as function of the back EMF measurement.

Abstract: A system for implanting surgical material in a patient's body is disclosed. The system comprises a two-dimensional (2D) laser cutter network comprising a 2D laser cutter and a processor. The processor is configured to perform the steps of capturing an image of an open area of a patient's body and processing a drug implant substrate to create a customized drug implant substrate. The customized drug implant may be created based on the captured image to correspond with the open area of the patient's body. The drug implant substrate is shaped using the 2D laser cutter. The processor is further configured to perform the steps of placing the customized drug implant substrate in the open area of the patient's body and sealing the open area after placing the customized drug implant substrate in the open area.

Abstract: A method of providing sentiment analysis includes training a computer system to identify a polarity of a sentiment for a plurality of phrases and receiving, at the computer system, an input from a website. The input includes a text string including a phrase. The method includes determining, by the computer system, the polarity of the sentiment of the phrase by comparing the phrase to the plurality of phrases and sending, by the computer system, a command to the website that causes the website to display predetermined content based on the determined polarity of the sentiment of the phrase.

Abstract: A method for determining potentially undesirable voices, in embodiments, includes: receiving audio recordings comprising voices associated with undesirable activity, and determining audio components of each of the audio recordings. The method may further comprise generating a multi-dimensional vector of the audio components for each of the plurality of audio recordings, and comparing audio components between the multi-dimensional vectors to determine clusters of multi-dimensional vectors, each cluster comprising two or more of the multi-dimensional vectors of audio components, wherein each cluster corresponds to a blacklisted voice. The method may further comprise receiving an audio recording or audio stream, and determining whether the audio recording or audio stream is associated with a voice associated with undesirable activity based on a comparison to the clusters.

Abstract: Methods for tagging content in a video game title during game play executed on a game cloud system, and social sharing methods. One method includes receiving a pause indication during the game play and suspending the game play to hold the video game title in a current frame image, storing the game state, and receiving the tag data that is associated to a location in the current frame image and to a user identifier for the current frame image. The method further includes generating a video recording of the game play having the tag data and generating a mini-game from a portion of the video game title. The mini-game includes a playable portion to enable view of a portion of the video recording for the mini-game and an executable portion to enable the play of game code for the mini-game that is a portion of the video game title.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of massaging devices are disclosed herein. One exemplary embodiment includes a piston having a longitudinal axis, a massaging head connected to the piston, a motor located on a first side of the longitudinal axis and a handle located on a second side of the longitudinal axis. A drive mechanism for moving the piston and massage head is also included.

Abstract: Systems and methods for segmenting surgical videos are disclosed. One example method includes receiving, by a processor of a computing device, surgical video, the surgical video comprising at least a sequence of video frames of a surgical procedure; in response to receiving an identification of a video frame, generating, by the processor, a bookmark based on the video frame; associating, by the processor, the bookmark with the video frame; and storing, by the processor, the bookmark in a non-transitory computer-readable medium.

Abstract: Described are light emitting diode (LED) devices comprising a plurality of mesas defining pixels, each of the plurality of mesas comprising semiconductor layers, an N-contact material in a space between each of the plurality of mesas, a dielectric material which insulates sidewalls of the P-type layer and the active region from the metal. Each of the mesas is spaced so that there is a pixel pitch in a range of from 10 ?m to 100 ?m and dark space gap between adjacent edges of p-contact layer. The dark space gap may be less than 20% of the pixel pitch. The dark space gap may be in a range of from 4 ?m to 10 ?m.

Abstract: The present technology can be used to control the current injection profile in the longitudinal direction of a high-power diode laser in order to optimize current densities as a function of position in the cavity to promote higher reliable output power and increase the electrical to optical conversion efficiency of the device beyond the level which can be achieved without application of this technique. This approach can be utilized, e.g., in the fabrication of semiconductor laser chips to improve the output power and wall plug efficiency for applications requiring improved performance operation.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a powertrain having an electric machine configured to power driven wheels, an accelerator pedal, and friction brakes. A vehicle controller is programmed to, with the vehicle being in a one-pedal driving mode: in response to a braking torque capacity of the powertrain exceeding a target braking torque that is based on a position of the accelerator pedal, command a torque, that is equal to the target braking torque, from the powertrain such that the vehicle is slowed using the powertrain without application of the friction brakes, and, in response to the braking torque capacity of the powertrain being less than the target braking torque, command torques from the powertrain and the friction brakes such that the target braking torque is satisfied and the vehicle is slowed using the powertrain and the friction brakes.

Abstract: Embodiments of golf club heads, golf clubs, and methods to manufacture golf club heads and golf clubs are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head includes a face portion and a body portion having an interior cavity. The face portion includes a front surface, a back surface, a face center portion, and a back groove portion on the back surface. The back groove portion at least partially surrounds the face center portion. A mass portion located on the toe side of the body portion is coupled to the body portion and includes a material having a greater density than a material of the body portion. A port on the body portion is connected to the interior cavity. A filler material is in the interior cavity and is injected into the interior cavity from the port. Abstract: A device performs a method for using image data to aid voice recognition. The method includes the device capturing image data of a vicinity of the device and adjusting, based on the image data, a set of parameters for voice recognition performed by the device. The set of parameters for the device performing voice recognition include, but are not limited to: a trigger threshold of a trigger for voice recognition; a set of beamforming parameters; a database for voice recognition; and/or an algorithm for voice recognition. The algorithm may include using noise suppression or using acoustic beamforming.

Abstract: Control of an amplitude of a signal applied to rods of a quadrupole is described. In one aspect, a mass spectrometer includes an amplifier circuit that causes a radio frequency (RF) signal to be applied to the rods of the quadrupole. A controller circuit can determine that the actual amplitude of the RF signal differs than the expected amplitude and, in response, identify current and past environmental and performance parameters to adjust the amplitude.

Abstract: The description relates to hinged devices, such as hinged computing devices. One example can include first and second portions that rotate around a hinge shaft that is fixedly secured to the first portion and rotationally secured to the second portion. The second portion defining a first contact surface spaced apart from a second contact surface. Multiple friction clips friction fit around the hinge shaft and rotating with the hinge shaft between the first contact surface and the second contact surface.

Abstract: A method is performed by a device of a group of devices in a distributed data replication system. The method includes storing an index of objects in the distributed data replication system, the index being replicated while the objects are stored locally by the plurality of devices in the distributed data replication system. The method also includes conducting a scan of at least a portion of the index and identifying a redundant replica(s) of the at least one of the objects based on the scan of the index. The method further includes de-duplicating the redundant replica(s), and updating the index to reflect the status of the redundant replica.

Abstract: An electronic device for managing gateways comprises: a processor; and a computer-readable storage medium which contains executable instructions which, when executed by the processor, causes the electronic device to: determine whether the current time falls within the specified sleep time interval; in response to determining that the current time falls within the specified sleep time interval, determine whether the first extender node among one or a plurality of extender nodes is in an idle connection state, wherein the idle connection state includes: the first extender node being not connected to any client, or the first extender node being only connected to a sleeping client; and sending a sleep command to the first extender node based at least in part on the idle connection state of the first extender node, wherein the sleep command instructs the first extender node to power off a wireless network interface of the first extender node.
