Abstract: A power system for a vehicle or a stationary installation and a method of operating a battery module. The power system includes an electronic operator unit, a power control unit, a system control unit, and a battery pack. The power control unit is coupled to a system component and has a predetermined power demand. The system control unit generates a power system data map and is communicatively coupled to a pack communications bus, the electronic operator unit, and the power control unit. The battery pack has a plurality of sockets. The power bus is coupled to the plurality of sockets and to the power control unit. The power bus includes a negative power bus and a positive power bus.
Abstract: Described are examples for providing a system for managing configuration and policies for a virtualized wide area network (vWAN) support on a wide area network (WAN). The vWAN includes a plurality of virtual network entities associated with geographic locations including the physical computing resources of the WAN and virtual connections between the virtual network entities. The system includes a network safety component for managing configurations and policies of the vWAN on the WAN. The network safety component receives a change to a policy or configuration of the vWAN from an operator of a network connected to the vWAN. The network safety component evaluates a set of safety rules for the operator based on the change and a network state of a physical WAN underlying the vWAN. The network safety component generates an error message in response to at least one of the set of safety rules failing the evaluation.

Abstract: A vector control composite system and methods for producing a vector control strategy capable of blocking mosquito host-seeking cues for reducing the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases. The vector control composite system comprises a substrate coated with a composition further comprising nanoparticles functionalized to block thermal, vibrational, or gray body energy emission of an emitter, thus interfering with mosquito infrared receptor functions for host-seeking. The vector control composite system may comprise a base substrate coated with an IR ceramic coating having an insulation component, a multispectral signature mitigation component, an IR anti-reflective component, whereby the multispectral signature mitigation component and IR anti-reflective component contain functionalized nanoparticles. Embodiments of the vector control composite system may be incorporated in various textiles used as nets, garments, tents, and equipment.
Abstract: A disclosed modular truck bed assembly includes two or more modular truck bed components configured to form a modular truck bed suitable for use with a bedless truck. The modular truck components may include two or more modular components that combine to form a multi-piece bed panel. The modular components that combine to form the multi-piece bed panel may include a center bed module attached between left and right wing bed modules. The center bed panel may be affixed to structural elements of the bedless while the wing bed modules may be attached to the center module. The center bed module may include a center bed panel, with or without a gooseneck hitch, and a center trail panel, without or without a trailer hitch. The assembly may include a vertically adjustable bulkhead positioned forward of the center bed panel and either side of the assembly may include a skirt.

Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) metal object manufacturing apparatus is equipped with a movable directed energy source to melt hardened metal drops and form an oxidation layer. A metal support structure can be formed over the oxidation layer, an object feature can be formed over the oxidation layer, or both a metal support structure and an object feature can be formed over oxidation layers located at opposite sides of a metal support structure. The oxidation layers weakly attach the metal support structure to the object feature supported by the metal support structure so the support structure can be easily removed after manufacture of the object is complete.

The server determines a second bitrate for transmission of the data segments to the user device. The server transmits the requested data segments at the determined second bitrate.
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for providing a resource to a particular virtual private cloud that is deployed in a set of datacenters that host multiple virtual private clouds. At a resource issuer, the method receives a resource request from a particular machine deployed in the particular virtual private cloud, the resource request including a first set of cloud-specific data. The method obtains a cloud identifier for the particular machine from a registry service of the particular virtual private cloud that interacts with a datacenter-set cloud service that deploys machines in the datacenter set for different virtual private clouds. The method uses the obtained cloud identifier to obtain a second set of cloud-specific data for the particular machine from the datacenter-set cloud service. Upon determining that the first and second sets of cloud-specific data match, the method authenticates the particular machine and issues the resource for the particular machine.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a new networking data path framework that employs one or more dedicated kernel threads to process network traffic on a host computer executing multiple machines (such as virtual machines or containers). This new framework is referred to as an Enhanced Networking Stack (ENS) in this document. In some embodiments, the dedicated kernel threads execute on dedicated CPU cores (e.g., one kernel thread per CPU core) to proactively poll physical NICs (PNICs) of the host computer and virtual NICs (VNICs) of the machines (e.g., VMs), and to perform packet processing operations on packets received by the host and packets transmitted by the machines. In some embodiments, each PNIC or VNIC is associated with one dedicated kernel thread, in order to avoid synchronization issues between the kernel threads.
