  • Patent number: 12254581
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to providing an artificial reality environment with augments and surfaces. An “augment” is a virtual container in 3D space that can include presentation data, context, and logic. An artificial reality system can use augments as the fundamental building block for displaying 2D and 3D models in the artificial reality environment. For example, augments can represent people, places, and things in an artificial reality environment and can respond to a context such as a current display mode, time of day, a type of surface the augment is on, a relationship to other augments, etc. Augments can be on a “surface” that has a layout and properties that cause augments on that surface to display in different ways. Augments and other objects (real or virtual) can also interact, where these interactions can be controlled by rules for the objects evaluated based on information from the shell.

  • Patent number: 12253573
Abstract: Disclosed herein are batteries, battery packs, systems, and methods for calculating and/or determining, and then compensating for, the voltage loss due to interconnect resistance (IR) between cells of a battery pack. A program may calculate and/or determine the cell IR between each of the cells in a battery pack, which is referred to herein as the “calibration value,” and may be determined during the initial battery pack design phase. A program may then multiply the cell IR or “calibration value” by the measured pack current to compensate for the measured cell voltage. The cell IR or “calibration value” may be used during manufacture of the battery pack to compensate for the interconnect resistance (IR) between cells. This compensation for voltage loss due to IR between cells will increase accuracy of the BMS and improve overall battery pack performance, without increasing material costs or size of the battery pack.

  • Patent number: 12255451
Abstract: Distributed grid intelligence can enable a modular power grid. Multiple consumer nodes are coupled to a same point of common coupling (PCC). Local power sources are coupled to the PCC. None of the power sources has sufficient generation capacity alone to meet peak demand of the multiple consumer nodes of the grid segment. The grid segment includes multiple control nodes to control distribution of power from the power sources to the multiple consumer nodes based on power demand from the multiple consumer nodes and based on operation of the other power sources. Thus, consumer nodes can share power generated locally, but operate independently without the need for central management or a central power plant, and different independent segments can be coupled to each other to expand the grid network.

  • Patent number: 12256104
Abstract: Techniques for selectively transforming one or more coding units when coding video content are described herein. The techniques may include determining whether or not to transform a particular coding unit. The determination may be based on a difference in pixel values of the particular coding unit and/or one or more predefined rate-distortion constraints. • Patent number: 12256485
Abstract: Energy is generated from pulsed electric power sources applied to a gas medium that includes hydrogen. A sealed reactor chamber contains hydrogen. A plasma power supply, such as a DC, AC, or RF power supply, generates a plasma inside the chamber. The pulse energy generator systems use pulsed electric power for the conversion of molecular hydrogen into atomic hydrogen. An inner surface of the reactor chamber is coated with a catalyst to facilitate the reformation of molecular hydrogen from atomic hydrogen under conditions that release excess energy. The catalyst may include tungsten, nickel, titanium, platinum, palladium, and mixtures thereof. A plasma pulse controller connected to the plasma power supply turns the power supply on and off to generate plasma pulses inside the reactor chamber. A pulse time duration may range from 1 nanosecond to 1 millisecond and a dead time between pulses may range from 20 milliseconds to 0.3 seconds.

  • Patent number: 12256291
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing information via an open-access network such as a wireless local area network (WLAN). In one embodiment, the information provided is contextually relevant to one or locations, more users or devices receiving the information. In one implementation, the information is provisioned by a network entity (for example, from a service provider network operator) and provided to one or more access points (APs) of the service provider network. The information is bit-stuffed into Wi-Fi beacon frames or other data structures that are broadcast by the APs to nearby client devices. A receiving client device extracts the information using a protocol embodied in application software on the client, and may also initiate a dedicated wireless connection with the AP for e.g., transmission of content related to the context and/or the bit-stuffed information, access of related Internet addresses, etc.

  • Patent number: 12254697
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for monitoring events using a Virtual Inductive Loop system. In some implementations, image data is obtained from cameras. A region depicted in the obtained image data is identified, the region comprising lines spaced by a distance that satisfies a distance threshold. For each line included in the region: an object depicted crossing the line is determined whether to satisfy a height criteria indicating that the line is activated. In response to determining that an object depicted crossing the line satisfies the height criteria, an event is determined to have likely occurred using data indicating (i) which lines of the lines were activated and (ii) an order in which each of the lines were activated. In response to determining that an event likely occurred, actions are performed using at least some of the data.
