Abstract: A multimedia content item is summarized based on its audio track and a desired compression budget. The audio track is extracted and processed by an automatic speech recognizer to obtain a time-aligned text transcript. The text-transcript is partitioned into a plurality of segment sequences. An informativeness score based on a salience score and a diversity score is computed for each of the segments. A coherence score is also computed for the segments in the plurality of sequences. A subsequence of one of the segment sequences that optimizes for informativeness and coherence is selected for generating a new content item summarizing the multimedia content item.
Abstract: Example aspects of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for generation of improved language embeddings (e.g., entity embeddings for natural language tokens) which provide improved model performance. In addition, the proposed techniques require less computational consumption relative to previous approaches.
Abstract: Energy is generated from pulsed electric power sources applied to a gas medium that includes hydrogen. A sealed reactor chamber contains hydrogen. A plasma power supply, such as a DC, AC, or RF power supply, generates a plasma inside the chamber. The pulse energy generator systems use pulsed electric power for the conversion of molecular hydrogen into atomic hydrogen. An inner surface of the reactor chamber is coated with a catalyst to facilitate the reformation of molecular hydrogen from atomic hydrogen under conditions that release excess energy. The catalyst may include tungsten, nickel, titanium, platinum, palladium, and mixtures thereof. A plasma pulse controller connected to the plasma power supply turns the power supply on and off to generate plasma pulses inside the reactor chamber. A pulse time duration may range from 1 nanosecond to 1 millisecond and a dead time between pulses may range from 20 milliseconds to 0.3 seconds.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling a soft tissue implant into a locking cavity formed within a bone is disclosed. The apparatus includes a member to pull the soft tissue implant into a femoral tunnel. The member includes a suture having first and second ends which are passed through first and second openings associated with the longitudinal passage to form a pair of loops. Portions of the suture lay parallel to each other within the suture. Application of tension onto the suture construction causes retraction of the soft tissue implant into the femoral tunnel.

Abstract: Intelligent battery depletion techniques for a range-extended electrified vehicle (REEV) include receiving at least (i) a state of charge (SOC) of a battery system of the REEV and (ii) a distance for a trip of the REEV, controlling an electrified powertrain (engine and electric motor) of the REEV to generate a drive torque to satisfy a driver torque request, based on at least the battery system SOC and the trip distance, determining, an optimized charge depletion or allocation profile for the trip for powering the electric motor/battery system, and controlling the electrified powertrain based on the blended charge depletion or allocation profile until the trip distance has been reached or the battery system SOC reaches a desired minimum level, and then transitioning to a charge sustaining mode where the engine generates the drive torque and maintains the battery system SOC at the desired minimum level.

Abstract: A method is provided for improved understanding of text or speech sequences utilizing language neutral verb expression patterns (LNVEP). The LNVEP system deconstructs the text or speech sequences to uncover the LNVEP, which includes one or more essential component categories with a certain verb to yield a universally understandable, appropriate verb expression. The LNVEP identifies the semantic meaning of the text or speech sequences. Each LNVEP corresponds to one of more LNVEP Model that identifies the syntax of the text or speech sequences.

Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamic allocation of spectrum among cross-interfering radio nodes of wireless communications systems are disclosed. Multiple radio nodes may be deployed within a geographical region, and each radio node may support wireless communication over spectrum in which access is arbitrated by an external service not under the control of the operator of the radio node. Each radio node is configured to detect radio conditions which may indicate coexistence between the radio node and a neighboring radio node. A network entity associated with the radio node obtains radio condition information and determines a coexistence status between the radio node and the neighboring radio node, such as whether coexistence with the neighboring radio node is tolerable or intolerable. The network entity reports an indication of the coexistence status to a spectrum server, and the spectrum server reallocates the spectrum among the radio nodes.

Abstract: A safety anchor apparatus is adapted for use in installation of a perimeter cable fall protection system at a construction site, e.g., involving concrete or masonry wall construction. The safety anchor apparatus may be mounted during construction of the masonry or cement block wall with relative ease and is capable of securing holding the support cable (e.g., steel cable) in a tensioned condition to meet all safety standards with regard to strength, load etc. The safety anchor apparatus is secured to embedded reinforcement bar extending through a column or rows of cement blocks. The safety anchor apparatus is selectively adjustable to accommodate masonry blocks of different sizes which may be used during construction of the support wall. Moreover, the safety anchor apparatus is adjustable to account for variations in wall design and readily deployable about the vertical reinforcement bar during application of the rows of cement blocks.
