Abstract: A bicycle helmet that fits over a surface of a head of a user generally includes a segment of flexible cell structures that form a radial honeycomb matrix movable between a folded condition where each side of the segment is disposed generally parallel and an expanded condition where the radial honeycomb matrix of the segment is configured to be expanded at least partially over the head of the user and arranged radially relative to the surface of the head of the user. The bicycle helmet includes a first and second side frame disposed respectively at the first and second ends of the honeycomb matrix. A sliding latch permits selective translation of the first and second side frames.

Abstract: Devices for removing implanted objects from body vessels are provided. A device includes a sheath assembly having a cutting tip. The cutting tip includes a cutting surface that is adapted to cut tissue coupled to an implanted object as the cutting tip rotates. The sheath assembly further includes an outer shield carried outside of the cutting tip. The outer shield includes a distal opening, and the outer shield is translatable relative to the cutting tip from a first position to a second position and vice versa. In the first position the cutting surface of the cutting tip is disposed within the outer shield, and in the second position the cutting tip extends through the distal opening and the cutting surface is at least partially disposed outside of the outer shield.
Abstract: Apparatuses for use in straw phonation are provided herein. These apparatuses are typically reusable. Kits comprising these apparatuses are also provided which allow the apparatuses to be stored safely for repeated use throughout the day as required. Additionally, the present disclosure is related to methods of practicing straw phonation with the apparatuses described herein.
Abstract: A system processes unstructured data to identify a plurality of subsets of text in a set of text in the unstructured data and determines, for a subset from the plurality of subsets, probabilities based on a position of the subset in the set of text, a part of speech (POS) of each word in the subset, and POSs of one or more words on left and right hand sides of the subset, a number of the one or more words being selected based on a length of the set of text. The system generates a feature vector for the subset, the feature vector including the probabilities and additional features of the subset; and classifies, using a classifier, the subset into one of a plurality of classes based on the feature vector for the subset, the plurality of classes representing an ontology of a domain of knowledge.

Abstract: A fluoropropene composition comprising E-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene, and 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, wherein the total amount of 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene and 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene is 1.0 wt. % or less, based on the total weight of the fluoropropene composition. A method of producing the fluoropropene, composition and methods for using the fluoropropene composition are also disclosed.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a unique new approach to generating operating condition information used for assessing flow assurance and structural integrity. More specifically, apparatuses, systems and methods configured in accordance with embodiments of the present invention enable multiplexed arrangement of optical fiber for sensing of operating conditions within a structural member and utilize fiber optic sensors for enabling monitoring of operating condition information within one or more elongated tubular members. To this end, fiber optic sensors are strategically placed at a plurality of locations along a length of each elongated tubular member thereby allowing critical operating conditions such as strain, temperature and pressure of the elongated tubular member and/or a fluid therein to be monitored. A multiplexing unit is used for allowing selective configuration of individual lengths of optical fiber for creating one or more contiguous optical fiber structures.
Abstract: A method includes detecting a user input comprising an incomplete three-dimensional (3D) gesture performed by one or more hands of a first user by a virtual-reality (VR) headset, selecting candidate 3D gestures from pre-defined 3D gestures based on a personalized gesture-recognition model, wherein each of the candidate 3D gestures is associated with a confidence score representing a likelihood the first user intended to input the respective candidate 3D gesture, and presenting one or more suggested inputs corresponding to one or more of the candidate 3D gestures at the VR headset.

Abstract: A security system is provided to integrate a local existing security system with other security and automation devices which may not be compatible with the existing security system. The security system can connect and integrate an existing security system, and provide a centralized point of controlling all existing and new security and automation devices in a premise, thereby allowing flexibility in modifying and expanding a security system in the premise without need of replacing the security system that has been already installed throughout the premise. The security system can at least partially self-program to communicate with an existing security system when the security system is connected to the existing security system.

Abstract: An improved method and device are provided for forming and/or maintaining a percutaneous access pathway. The device generally comprises at least one of three type of components: access pathway, insertion device, and attachment device. In one embodiment, the device is used to form and/or maintain a percutaneous access pathway into the pleural cavity (i.e. tube thoracostomy). The provided assembly substantially reduces the possibility of iatrogenic infection while accessing and/or re-accessing a body space.
Abstract: Methods are provided for dynamically deactivating and reactivating a radio at a particular cell site based on a detected radar signal. When a cell site detects a radar signal, it sends a radar signal alert (RSA) broadcast to its neighboring cells in the direction the radar signal is traveling. The cell site receiving the RSA broadcast is able to determine, based on locations and time stamps of two or more cell sites providing the RSA broadcast, the direction the radar is sweeping, the speed of the radar signal, and the time the radar signal will reach its site. Based on this determination, the cell site can determine the appropriate time to shutoff the Band 41 radio as well as the appropriate time to power on the Band 41 radio. Moreover, the cell site may initially reduce power to the Band 41 radio to reduce the shutoff time.
Abstract: A system and method for a dynamic-link communication process between an electronic device and a target product or service by serving content or facilitating communication between two electronic devices. The first step is engagement by an electronic device with an initiator that is linked with a specific product or service that triggers a text message to auto-populate on the electronic device. The message comprising metadata about the specific product or service. The second step is for the electronic device to send the auto-populated message to a message gateway thus initiating the communication between the electronic device and a product or service. The message gateway works with a management service and one or more databases to send content back to the electronic device or to facilitate and convert messages between the electronic device and a second electronic device, the second electronic device associated with a product or service.
Abstract: A lighting device, such as a light-emitting diode (LED) light source, may operate in an interim operable state to avoid and/or prevent undesirable characteristics in the light emitted by the lighting device (e.g., strobing and/or flickering of a brightness of the light and/or shifting or change of a color of the light). When operating in a normal state, the control circuit may determine if a measured value of a first operational characteristic (e.g., a forward voltage of an emitter of the lighting device) is outside of a range and operate in the interim operable state if the measured value of the first operational characteristic is outside of the range. When operating in the interim operable state, the control circuit may adjust a drive current for the emitter in response to a measured value of a second operational characteristic (e.g., a forward voltage of a detector of the lighting device).
