Abstract: A computing system measures an amount of carbon that is emitted as a consequence of the execution of individual application processes of an operation. The computing system can then leverage these measurements to modify how the application processes are run. In operation, the computing system deploys an application process in a container of a particular worker node of a cluster in a container orchestration platform. The technology further deploys an agent (e.g., a daemon) on all of the worker nodes of the cluster, including the particular worker node. The agent includes an energy-managing mechanism that is given privileges to measure the amount of energy consumed by the application process within the particular node. The computing system can use this energy measure, together with applicable carbon intensity information, to compute the amount of carbon emitted by the application process.

Abstract: A pacemaker system includes a drive-sense circuit (DSC) operably coupled to a pacemaker lead. The DSC generates a pace signal including electrical impulses based on a reference signal. The DSC provides the pace signal via the pacemaker lead to an electrically responsive portion of a cardiac conductive system of a subject to facilitate cardiac operation of a cardiovascular system of the subject. The DSC senses, via the pacemaker lead, cardiac electrical activity of the cardiovascular system of the subject that is generated in response to the pace signal and electrically coupled into the pacemaker lead and generates a digital signal that is representative of the cardiac electrical activity of the cardiovascular system of the subject that is sensed via the pacemaker lead. The DSC provides digital information to one or more processing modules that includes and/or is coupled to memory and that provide the reference signal to the DSC.

Abstract: An interface circuit that can operate in toggle mode at data high transfer rates while reducing the self-induced noise is presented. The high speed toggle mode interface supplies a data signal to a data line or other transfer line by a driver circuit. The driver circuit includes a pair of series connected transistors connected between a high supply level and a low supply level, where the data line is supplied from a node between the two transistors. A resistor is connected between one or both of the transistors and one of the supply levels, with a capacitor connected between the low supply level and a node between the resistor and the transistor. The resistor helps to isolate the transistor from the supply level while the capacitor can act as current reservoir to boost the current to the transistor during data transition, reducing the noise seen by the voltage supply.

Abstract: Wireless devices may perform modified carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) techniques in order to increase reliability while maintaining a reasonable latency for communications. The wireless devices may perform listen-before-talk (LBT) techniques using an adaptive transmission threshold (e.g., an adaptive CSMA threshold). The transmission threshold may be compared to a measured signal strength magnitude to determine whether the frequency channel is quiet enough for transmission of a packet. The transmission threshold may be initially set to equal a minimum value. The wireless device may increase the transmission threshold after each instance of LBT failure to allow the wireless device to get progressively more likely to transmit the packet each time LBT fails.
