Abstract: A split-phase bidirectional on-board charger (OBC) has separate charging and discharging modes, and includes a switchgear block connectable to an offboard charging station during the charging mode, and to an external alternating current (AC) load during the discharging mode. The OBC includes first and second DC-AC converters connected to the switchgear block and DC-DC converter connected to the first and second DC-AC converters and a DC bus. During the charging mode, the DC-AC converters output a DC link voltage to the DC-DC converter. The DC-DC converter outputs a DC charging voltage or current to the DC bus when the link voltage reaches a predetermined value. During the discharging mode, the DC-AC converters receive a DC discharging voltage or current from the DC-DC converter and together selectively output a split-phase AC voltage through the switchgear block to the AC electrical load.

Abstract: A system for sanitizing water in a container is disclosed. The system includes a sanitizing chamber, separate from the container, sized to hold a small portion of the water from the container. A first conduit conveys water from the container to the chamber. A second conduit conveys water from the chamber to the container. A pump moves water from the container, through the first conduit into the chamber and from the chamber, through the second conduit into the container. A heater heats the water in the sanitizing chamber to a temperature and for a time sufficient to destroy or deactivate undesirable microorganisms. The first and second conduits each comprise at least one heat exchanger whereby water in the first conduit is heated by the water in the second conduit and water in the second conduit is cooled by water in the first conduit.

Abstract: Disclosed is a lipophilic agent comprising a triazine core having lipophilic groups for organic synthesis. The lipophilic agent soluble in one system of solvent(s) wherein the lipophilic agent is participated in a chemical reaction but insoluble by adding a miscible poor solvent to change solution composition after the reaction completes. The lipophilic agent facilitates process improvement wherein practical operation only involves mixing with reactants in solution followed by precipitating with change of solution composition followed by filtering to obtain the precipitated solid, simplifying the purification by isolating the desired solid. The operation is reproducible along the progress in a multi-step synthesis, allowing pure intermediates and pure product as a solid to be rapidly obtained with ease and certainty. This invention can thus accelerate research and development of pharmaceutical biomolecules, representing a tremendous step forward for boosting productivity and greening chemical industry.

Abstract: A method for electronic device identifier assignment at a host computing device includes receiving a current local identifier of a separate electronic device and a full unique identifier of the separate electronic device. A host-specific identifier is assigned to the separate electronic device by, based at least in part on determining that the current local identifier of the separate electronic device is included in a set of local identifier values available for assignment, assigning the host-specific identifier to the separate electronic device with a same local identifier value as the current local identifier. Based at least in part on determining that the current local identifier of the separate electronic device is already assigned by the host computing device to a different separate electronic device, the host-specific local identifier is selected from the set of local identifier values available for assignment and assigned to the separate electronic device.

Abstract: Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) reactor chambers can be designed to contain an ICF target being imploded and capture the resulting energy output from the reaction. The exact amount of energy required to facilitate this implosion depends on the specific target design in use. An ICF target design and implosion mechanism which is more robust against non-uniformities, simpler to analyze and simpler to utilize would be advantageous in achieving practical energy generation. Ideally, the ICF target will be configured to achieve a uniform temperature and density profile when imploding with a variety of parameters not limited to the following: a central region having an areal density (?r) less than 1 g/cm2 at ignition and approximately 1% of the entire mass to be a material having a Z between 6 and 47 inclusive.

Abstract: A segmented optoelectronic semiconductor package may help to alleviate stresses resulting from bending that can cause a mechanical defect (e.g., crack) in a detector circuit. The bending can result from thermal growth/shrinkage of parts used in the optical electronic package and may be more pronounced for high aspect ratio detector circuits. The segmentation of the disclosed semiconductor package can create seams that allow the parts to flex without breaking. As a result, the disclosed semiconductor package may facilitate high aspect ratio optical detection over a wide temperature range.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described that implement collocated mm Wave and sub-6 GHz antennas. An apparatus includes at least one mmWave antenna that produces a near-field radiation region and a far-field radiation pattern in a mmWave frequency band. Disposed within the near-field radiation region is a sub-6 GHz antenna that produces a radiation pattern in a sub-6 GHz frequency band. The sub 6 GHz antenna is able to positively affect the far-field radiation pattern from the mm Wave antenna (e.g., via steering and/or broadening). In this way, the mmWave antenna and the sub-6 GHz antenna can be collocated to conserve space while also steering and/or broadening the far-field radiation pattern of the mm Wave antenna.
