Abstract: A recessed luminaire includes a housing supporting a light emitter, an intumescent material coupled to an outer surface of the housing, and a plate coupled to the housing and to the intumescent material. The housing configured to be positioned at least partially through a ceiling. The housing also includes a stepped surface. The intumescent material has a shape complementary to a shape of the housing. The plate is positioned adjacent to the stepped surface and to an upper surface of the intumescent material.

Abstract: A reflective polarization rotator based on a twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal (LC) configuration may be optimized for achromatic performance in both bright and dark states by compensating wavelength dependence of polarization transformation by the TN LC layer. At linear achromatic input polarization, the compensation aims to provide a circular achromatic polarization at the reflector, which guarantees the achromaticity of the 90 degrees polarization rotation on double pass. The compensation takes care to preserve linear polarization at the reflector when the LC device is driven to a vertical LC director configuration. Such an approach ensures that the performance of the polarization rotator is achromatic in both driven and undriven states of the LC device.
Abstract: A Far UV-C light device has a Far UV-C lamp located within a housing emitting a Far UV-C light having a wavelength of 222+/?1 nm for destroying pathogens. A handle connected with a body to a housing allows the Far UV-C device to be hand held and moved to a selected location. The handle is attached to a battery that provides electric energy that excites the Far UV-C lamp to emit Far UV-C light.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for automated protocol recommendation and selection in a medical imaging system. In one example, a method for the medical imaging system may include receiving an imaging order for an operator requesting an exam be performed on a patient using the medical imaging system, recommending a scan protocol for conducting the exam based on historical selections data for the operator and patient demographic data for the patient, and outputting the recommended scan protocol for display on a display device and/or automatically executing the recommended scan protocol.
Abstract: Implementations of the disclosure provide for anticipatory pre-execution of queries. In an implementation of the disclosure, a method for anticipatory pre-execution of queries includes the computation of an execution cost of each of a multiplicity of different queries to a data source scheduled at a specified time on a specified date. The method also includes monitoring a querying processing schedule and detecting from the monitoring, unscheduled time on a particular date prior to the specified time on the specified date. Finally, the method includes responding to the detection by first selecting a most expensive one of the different queries in terms of execution cost, for instance an amount of computing resources consumed in executing a corresponding one of the different queries, and then executing the selected most expensive one of the different queries during the unscheduled time on the particular date prior to the specified time on the specified date.
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments may include a system for intelligent alerting. The system may receive data and activity status information corresponding to a user. Based on the data and activity status information, the system may determine whether a first user alert is required, and if so, may determine a first type of alert and a first time to present the first type of alert to the user. The system may cause a user device to present the first type of alert to the user at the first time.

Abstract: A capacitive sensor assembly is disclosed, including a capacitive motor coupled to a charge pump circuit via a low pass filter, and a frontend amplifier circuit having an input coupled to the capacitive motor interface and an output coupled to an output of the electrical circuit. An injection current source (ICS) is coupled to the charge pump circuit output and configured to control voltage across a diode-based resistive element of the low pass filter during a transient startup phase of the charge pump circuit, wherein a settling time of the charge pump is reduced.
Abstract: A modular stuffing box for a reciprocating pump, and in particular, an externally mounted modular stuffing box. The modular stuffing box includes three or more sections that can be disassembled in individual sections. Being able to disassemble the sections allows for only the damaged section or sections requiring repair or removal to be replaced, thereby eliminating the need to remove or replace all of the sections of the stuffing box. The overall expenses are reduced and the ease of repair in the field is increased, because the materials and sections of the stuffing box that are in good condition and do not require repair can be reused as part of the stuffing box.
Abstract: A system and method for vehicle sharing include a vehicle having sensors, a vehicle computing system (VCS) including a processor and a memory communicating with the sensor and programmed to store sensor data associated with a vehicle sharing trip, and a human-machine interface (HMI) communicating with the VCS and displaying a vehicle sharing trip cost using the sensor data associated with vehicle and/or vehicle component wear and tear incurred during the trip, trip cost savings based on the pricing method, and presenting related coupons. Vehicle sharing cost may be determined for a vehicle use, driver, route, road conditions, parking behavior, weather, etc. based on data from vehicle sensors and external sensors to detect ambient and operating conditions. Sensor data may be communicated to cloud-based networks for processing, analysis, and cost determination using models associating sensor data with component wear, driver's characteristics, historical behavior, and related maintenance and repair cost.
