Abstract: A semiconductor structure includes a layer arrangement consisting of, in sequence, a semiconductor-on-insulator layer (SOI) over a buried oxide (BOX) layer over a buried stressor (BS) layer with a silicon bonding layer (BL) intervening between the BOX and the BS layers. The semiconductor structure may be created by forming the BS layer on a substrate of a first wafer; growing the BL layer at the surface of the BS layer; wafer bonding the first wafer to a second wafer having a silicon oxide layer formed on a silicon substrate such that the silicon oxide layer of the second wafer is bonded to the BL layer of the first wafer, and thereafter removing a portion of the silicon substrate of the second wafer.
Abstract: A vehicle management system can include self-driving vehicles. Before entering a self-driving vehicle, a rider can use a remote computing device to select a pick-up location at which a self-driving vehicle will later pick up the rider. Detecting that the remote computing device is unable to communicate with the vehicle management system can trigger several responses configured to minimize the risk of a self-driving vehicle failing to pick up the rider.

Abstract: A low cost, high selectivity asymmetric polyimide/polyethersulfone (PES) blend hollow fiber membrane, a method of making the membrane and its use for a variety of liquid, gas, and vapor separations such as deep desulfurization of gasoline and diesel fuels, ethanol/water separations, pervaporation dehydration of aqueous/organic mixtures, CO2/CH4, CO2/N2, H2/CH4, He/CH4, O2/N2, H2S/CH4, olefin/paraffin, iso/normal paraffins separations, and other light gas mixture separations. The polyimide/PES blend hollow fiber membrane is fabricated from a blend of a polyimide polymer and PES and showed surprisingly unique gas separation property with higher selectivities than either the polyimide hollow fiber membrane without PES polymer or the PES hollow fiber membrane without PES polymer for gas separations such as for H2/CH4, He/CH4, H2S/CH4, CO2/CH4 separations.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and an apparatus including processing circuitry configured to receive workflow information of a workflow. The processing circuitry generates, based on the workflow information, the workflow including a first buffering task and a plurality of processing tasks that includes a first processing task and a second processing task. The first processing task is caused to enter a running state in which a subset of input data is processed and output to the first buffering task as first processed subset data. The first processing task is caused to transition from the running state to a non-running state based on an amount of the first processed subset data in the first buffering task being equal to a first threshold. Subsequently, the second processing task is caused to enter a running state in which the first processed subset data in the first buffering task is processed.
Abstract: The compositions and methods described herein are topically applied to the skin with negligible or no skin irritation and can direct or prevent transport through the skin. The compositions contain neat ionic liquids, optionally in combination with a drug to be delivered. In a preferred embodiment, the compositions increase transdermal transport of the drug to be delivered. In some embodiments, the compositions disrupt bacterial biofilms. This is particularly beneficial in the treatment of antibiotic resistant skin infections. In other embodiments, the compositions direct delivery within the skin. In still other embodiments, the compositions prevent transfer of substances through the stratum corneum. The disclosed compositions and methods can be tuned and modified such that they can be used to treat or prevent a variety of different diseases and disorders.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a dandelion latex shoe component. Dandelion rubber, CIS polybutadiene rubber (BR), and butadiene styrene rubber (SBR) are mixed together to form a first mixture. The dandelion rubber, CIS polybutadiene rubber (BR), and butadiene styrene rubber (SBR) are mixed at a temperature not less than 60° Celsius and not greater than 80° to form the first mixture. Silicon dioxide is then mixed with the first mixture to form a second mixture. The silicon dioxide is mixed with the first mixture at a temperature not less than 80° Celsius and not greater than 100° Celsius to form the second mixture. The dandelion latex shoe component is then formed from at least the second mixture via a molding process.
Abstract: A mixer assembly for a vehicle exhaust system includes a mixer shell defining an internal cavity, wherein the mixer shell includes an upstream end configured to receive exhaust gases and downstream end. A reactor is positioned within the internal cavity and has a reactor inlet configured to receive injected fluid and a reactor outlet that directs a mixture of exhaust gas and injected fluid into the internal cavity. A flow diverter is associated with the reactor to direct exhaust gas bypassing the reactor to mix with the mixture exiting the reactor outlet prior to exiting the downstream end of the mixer.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for transferring dialog sessions between devices using deep links. The dialog sessions can correspond to interactions, mediated by an automated assistant, between a user and a third party application. During the dialog session, a user can request that the dialog session be transferred to a different device, for example, to interact with the third party application through a different modality. In response, the automated assistant and/or the third party application can generate a link that can be transferred to the transferee device to allow the transferee device to seamlessly take over the dialog session. In this way, computational resources and electrical power can be preserved by not requiring a recipient device to re-process natural language inputs previously provided during the dialog session.
Abstract: A jam free dual redundant actuator lane changer system includes a primary lane system and a secondary lane system. The primary lane system is configured to provide actuation of a component during a normal operation while the secondary lane system remains in a standby configuration; and the secondary lane system is configured to provide an actuation of the component when the primary lane system fails or jams, but freed from its output to the component.

Abstract: Quaternary ammonium tribromides and quaternary phosphonium tribromides are recovered from an organic solvent by washing with an aqueous hydrazine solution. The hydrazine reacts to form nitrogen, hydrobromic acid and a quaternary ammonium or quaternary phosphonium monobromide. The hydrobromic acid and quaternary ammonium or quaternary phosphonium migrate to the aqueous phase, thereby effecting the removal of the tribromides from the organic solvent. The hydrobromic acid can be neutralized with a quaternary ammonium or quaternary phosphonium hydroxide to produce a quaternary ammonium or quaternary phosphonium monobromide. The monobromides produced can be reacted with elemental bromine to regenerate a tribromide brominating agent.
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a wireless User Equipment (UE) over a backhaul link. A wireless network core identifies a wireless access node and a radio band for the wireless UE. The wireless network core selects a backhaul data rate for the wireless UE based on the radio band for the wireless UE. The wireless network core exchanges user data with the wireless access node over the backhaul link using the selected backhaul data rate. The wireless access node exchanges the user data with the wireless network core over the backhaul link using the selected backhaul data rate. The wireless access node wirelessly exchanges the user data with the wireless UE over the radio band.

Abstract: A mass-flow throttle for highly accurate control of the gaseous supplies (fuel and/or air) to the combustion chambers for a large engine in response to instantaneous demand signals from the engine's ECM, especially for large (i.e., 30 liters or greater in size) spark-ignited internal combustion engines fueled by natural gas. With a unitary block assembly and a throttle blade driven by a non-articulated rotary actuator shaft, in combination with tight control circuitry including multiple pressure sensors as well as sensors for temperature and throttle position, the same basic throttle concepts are innovatively suited to be used for both MFG and MFA throttles in industrial applications, to achieve highly accurate mass-flow control even despite pressure fluctuations while operating in non-choked flow.
