    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods by which lead from spent lead-acid batteries may be extracted, purified, and used in the construction of new lead-acid batteries. A method includes: (A) forming a mixture including a carboxylate source and a lead-bearing material; (B) generating a first lead salt precipitate in the mixture as the carboxylate source reacts with the lead-bearing material; (C) increasing the pH of the mixture to dissolve the first lead salt precipitate; (D) isolating a liquid component of the mixture from one or more insoluble components of the mixture; (E) decreasing the pH of the liquid component of the mixture to generate a second lead salt precipitate; and (F) isolating the second lead salt precipitate from the liquid component of the mixture. Thereafter, the isolated lead salt precipitate may be converted to leady oxide for use in the manufacture of new lead-acid batteries.

The fluid source supplies pressurized fluid and thereby energy to the gas-driven rotatable motor which is disposed to generate thrust to set the gas-driven rotatable motor in motion. The cutting head is coupled to the gas-driven rotatable motor and rotates while cutting the tubular. The cutting tool can be deployed in a subterranean well by a variety of deployment methods, and the pressurized fluid may be supplied from a surface system, generated inside the cutting tool or bottom hole assembly, or input within the cutting tool or bottom hole assembly prior to deployment. The invention further relates to associated methods.

In another embodiment, a micromirror array is controlled to both correct optical aberrations in the laser beam and scan the laser beam in two directions. In yet another embodiment, a micromirror array is controlled to cause the laser beam to be focused to multiple focal spots simultaneously and to scan the multiple focal spot simultaneously. The ophthalmic laser surgery system also includes an ultrashort pulse laser, a laser energy control module, focusing optics and other optics, and a controller for controlling the laser beam scanner and other components of the system.
