Abstract: Techniques of introducing virtual objects into a physical environment of AR system include displacing vertices of a mesh representing the physical environment based on a live depth map. For example, an AR system generates a mesh template, i.e., an initial mesh with vertices that represents a physical environment and a depth map that indicates a geometry of real objects within the physical environment. The AR system is configured to represent the real objects in the physical environment by displacing the vertices of the mesh based on depth values of the depth map and parameter values of a pinhole camera model. The depth values may be taken from the perspective of an illumination source in the physical environment.
Abstract: An artificial intelligence (AI) X-ray image information detection and correction system is employed either as a component of the X-ray imaging system or separately from the X-ray imaging system to automatically scan post-exposure X-ray images to detect various types of information or characteristics of the X-ray image, including, but not limited to, anatomy, view, orientation and laterality of the X-ray image, along with an anatomical landmark segmentation. The information detected about the X-ray image can then be stored by the AI system in association with the X-ray image for use in various downstream X-ray system workflow automations and/or reviews of the X-ray image.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for dynamically adjusting broadcast beam patterns of a wavefront emitted by an antenna array based on the types of devices communicatively coupled to the base station associated with the antenna array. The broadcast beam patterns can be adjusted by modifying the broadcast mode or at least one phase, amplitude, or power of the at least one antenna associated with the base station. Adjusting the beam pattern, for example between multiple beams and a single unified beam, based on device types can improve the quality of service for the devices and reduce the processing burden of the base station.

Abstract: In an aspect, a method of manufacturing a high purity copper-based alloy comprises providing in a melting furnace a feedstock and melting the feedstock. The method additionally includes bubbling an inert gas into the molten copper-based alloy to form the high purity copper-based alloy. Aspects are also directed to an apparatus and a method of fabricating an apparatus for manufacturing the high purity copper-based alloy.
Abstract: Structures including a curved corrugated wall fabricated from a plurality of layers formed of one or more shaped strips and methods of forming the structures are described. A shaped strip used in the fabrication includes a variable profile across the width of the strip with a first edge of a strip defining a series of cell profiles of a first geometric shape and a second, opposite edge of the strip defining a series of cell profiles of a second, different geometric shape, with each cell transitioning from the first profile to the second profile across the width of the strip. The geometry of the cell profiles at either end of each cell can be designed with respect to one another to allow for radial orientation of the strip about an axis with little or no deformation or stress on the strip edges.

Abstract: A vehicle ECU receives an ECU update package from a remote source. The ECU verifies a first timestamp included with the ECU update package postdates a second timestamp stored onboard the vehicle in conjunction with a last-successful update of the ECU and obtains a unique vehicle identifier from the vehicle bus. The ECU obtains secure configuration data for the ECU included in a payload of the update package and calculates a first hash value using at least the unique vehicle identifier and the secure configuration data. Also, the ECU validates the update package based on comparison of the first hash value matching a second hash value included in the update package and, responsive to the first timestamp post-dating the second timestamp and validation of the update package, modifies the ECU through use of the secure configuration data.

Abstract: Within a satellite communications system, a base station communicates with standard compliant user equipment (UE) via a satellite having a field of view. The base station has a processor that instructs the satellite to generate a wide beam signal covering a plurality of cells in the field of view, and detects an access request from a user equipment within the plurality of cells over the wide beam signal. The base station, comprising a processing device such as an eNodeB, then generates one or more network broadcast/access signals that is uplink to a satellite and broadcasted via one or more nominal beams generated by the satellite, covering all the inactive cells, one of the plurality of cells having the access request.
Abstract: A system and method are provided for the non-destructive takedown of a high-altitude aerial object. The method provides a thrusting rocket enabled with a takedown payload, which may be launched from either a ground based or airborne platform. The takedown payload acquires the altitude, motion, and position parameters of a high altitude aerial object and the rocket acquires a position overlying the aerial object. The takedown payload releases a first plurality of ballast units, attached to a capture net, downward in a capture pattern surrounding the aerial object. In response to releasing the ballast units, the top surface of the aerial object is covered with the capture net. Combining the mass of each ballast unit with the mass of the aerial object forms a combined mass, and in response to the combined mass, the aerial object altitude is decreased.
