Abstract: Described herein are anti-microbial and UV-protective biological devices and extracts produced therefrom. The biological devices include microbial cells transformed with a DNA construct containing genes for producing proteins such as, for example, zinc-related protein/oxidase, silicatein, silaffin, and alcohol dehydrogenase. In some instances, the biological devices also include a gene for lipase. Methods for producing and using the devices are also described herein. Finally, compositions and methods for using the devices and extracts to kill microbial species or prevent microbial growth and to reduce or prevent UV-induced damage or exposure to materials, items, plants, and human and animal subjects are described herein. Also disclosed are biological devices producing polyactive carbohydrates and carbo sugars, as well as compositions and articles incorporating both extracts from these devices and the anti-microbial and UV-protective extracts.
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel application of hard, low friction aluminum magnesium boride (AlMgB14, also known as BAM) based ceramic coatings to surfaces of razor components and in particular to blade edges of razor blades. On razor blade edges, these coatings may elevate blade performance, while also simplifying the manufacturing process.

Abstract: A transmission filter includes two outlets. One outlet, adapted to feed an engine-driven pump, protrudes diagonally from the front of the filter. The first outlet is sealed to the inlet of the engine-driven pump by a radial seal. The second outlet is arranged in a rear extension and is sealed to the inlet of an electric pump by a compression seal. The differing types of seals and relative orientations of the outlets make the assembly less sensitive to dimension variation due to production and assembly tolerances. The relative locations of the outlets also mitigate any flow interactions between the pumps when both operate simultaneously.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for adaptive scan control. In one embodiment, a method includes upon a first contrast injection, processing acquired projection data of a subject to measure a contrast signal of the first contrast injection, estimating a time when a venous return to baseline (VRTB) of the first contrast injection is to occur based on the contrast signal, and commanding initiation of a second contrast injection at the estimated time.

Abstract: A single-piece patient interface device (PI) for coupling an patient's eye to an ophthalmic surgical laser system, which includes a rigid shell, a flexible suction ring joined to a lower edge of the shell, an applanation lens, and a flexible annular diaphragm which joins the applanation lens to the shell near the lower edge of the shell. The flexible diaphragm allows the applanation lens to move relative to the shell, including to shift in longitudinal and lateral directions of the shell and to tilt. In operation, the surgeon first secures the PI to the patient's eye by hand, and then couples the laser system to the PI by lowering the laser delivery head into the PI shell. During the lowering process, the laser delivery head presses the applanation lens down relative to the PI to applanate the cornea of the eye.

Abstract: Systems and methods for artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems and methods for conditional electronic processing are provided. An example method includes receiving real time data from one or more data sources associated with one or more connected smart devices; continuously evaluating the real time data to determine whether the one or more transaction conditions is met; upon determining that the one or more transaction conditions has been met, utilizing prioritized parameters to determine to which users an alert of a transaction request is broadcast; broadcasting the alert of the transaction request via a user application; transmitting, via a push notification gateway, a push notification to the user application on a user device; and establishing, via a network, a secure connection between the user device and an AI engine for executing the transaction request.
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing monitoring and detection of fraudulent or unauthorized use in telephone conferencing systems or voice networks. In various embodiments, a computing system might monitor call activity through telephone conferencing system or voice network. In response to detecting use of the telephone conferencing system or voice network by at least one party based on the monitored call activity, the computing system might identify incoming and/or outgoing associated with a call initiated by the at least one party. The computing system might analyze the identified incoming and/or outgoing call data to determine whether the call initiated by the at least one party constitutes at least one of fraudulent use or unauthorized use of the telephone conferencing system or voice network. If so, the computing system might initiate one or more first actions.

Abstract: Data processing systems are disclosed for determining semantic and person keypoints for an environment and an image and matching the keypoints for the image to the keypoints for the environment. A homography is generated based on the keypoint matching and decomposed into a matrix. Camera parameters are then determined from the matrix. A plurality of random camera poses can be generated and used to project keypoints for an environment using image keypoints. The projected keypoints can be compared to the actual keypoints for the environment to determine an error and weighting for each of the random camera poses.
