Patent number: 11675668Abstract: Described is a system (and method) for leveraging data previously transferred to a cloud-based object storage as part of a failed backup when performing a subsequent backup operation. The system may leverage the native configuration of an object storage that may retain certain data even when a backup operation is classified as a failed operation. To provide such capabilities, the system may store specialized metadata that tracks which backups have failed and metadata indicating which backup data has not been committed. Accordingly, upon a subsequent backup operation, the system may expediently refer to the stored metadata to identify retained backup data that may be reused for the subsequent backup. As a result, the system may improve the efficiency of a backup procedure by reducing the amount of data required to be transferred from the backup source.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2021Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Sunil Yadav, Shelesh Chopra, Amarendra Behera

Patent number: 11675536Abstract: An intelligent method of scheduling garbage collection (GC) in a storage system. A GC scheduler obtains capacity utilization and ingest rate of the storage system and calculate therefrom a predicted capacity utilization. When the predicted capacity utilization reaches a threshold, the GC scheduler invokes GC, but otherwise skips GC until such time as predicted capacity utilization reaches the threshold. The ingest rage may be calculated by performing linear fit on past data ingest. The GC scheduler may calculate predicted capacity utilization periodically according to preset period. The GC scheduler may calculate the predicted capacity utilization to a future date beyond the next period. The future date may be at least as far as the next period plus total ingest time.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2020Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: EMC IP HOLDING COMPANY LLCInventors: Tony T. Patent number: 11673623Abstract: An improved master cylinder for use with a hydraulic clutch or hydraulic brake system. The master cylinder has a master cylinder body defining a bore. A piston is configured to slide in the bore when an actuation lever is compressed by a user. Sliding of the piston as a result of the depression of the lever causes the piston to depress a spring and to increase hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic line leading to the brake or clutch. A spring is configured to return the piston when pressure is released from the actuation lever. The master cylinder body in some embodiments is configured for lateral position adjustment relative to a mounting bracket. In some embodiments the master cylinder has a reservoir. The reservoir can be oriented at a tilted angle relative to the body of the master cylinder. In further embodiments the master cylinder has an outlet nut that is configured for attachment to the hydraulic line.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2021Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: Rekluse Racing LLCInventors: Dayne H. Patent number: 11677082Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to an electrochemical cell having a non-homogeneous anode. The electrochemical cell includes a container, a cathode forming a hollow cylinder within the container, an anode positioned within the hollow cylinder of the cathode, and a separator between the cathode and the anode. The anode comprises at least two concentric anode portions, defined by different anode characteristics. For example, the two anode portions may contain different surfactant types, which provides the two anode portions with different charge transfer resistance characteristics. By lowering the charge transfer resistance of a portion of an anode located proximate the current collector of the cell (and away from the separator) relative to an anode portion located adjacent the separator, improved cell discharge performance may be obtained.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2021Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: Energizer Brands, LLCInventors: Zhufang Liu, Dawn Marie Freeman, Angelo Mandato
