  • Patent number: 11640051
Abstract: Motorized loupes enable the user to automatically increase or decrease the magnification on demand, without touching the loupes. Each loupe has a micromotor attached to it which moves a lens in the loupe to change the magnification. The motor is battery powered and the batteries are carried in a small housing worn by the user. The housing also contains electronic circuitry that at least reads the position encoders, drives the motors, receives the user's magnification commands and charges the battery when plugged in. A cord runs from each loupe to the housing to carry power and signals. The motors are controlled wirelessly by a foot pedal or by voice so that the user does not have to touch the loupes to change the magnification. In the preferred embodiment of surgical loupes, a TTL loupe is attached to each lens in a user's eyeglasses for binocular vision.

  • Patent number: 11641486
Abstract: Techniques and tools for reducing latency in video encoding and decoding by constraining latency due to reordering of video frames, and by indicating the constraint on frame reordering latency with one or more syntax elements that accompany encoded data for the video frames. For example, a real-time communication tool with a video encoder sets a syntax element that indicates a constraint on frame reordering latency, which is consistent with inter-frame dependencies between multiple frames of a video sequence, then outputs the syntax element. A corresponding real-time communication tool with a video decoder receives the syntax element that indicates the constraint on frame reordering latency, determines the constraint on frame reordering latency based on the syntax element, and uses the constraint on frame reordering latency to determine when a reconstructed frame is ready for output (in terms of output order).

  • Patent number: 11641007
Abstract: A light-emitting device includes a semiconductor diode structure with one or more light-emitting active layers, an anti-reflection coating on its front surface, and a redirection layer on its back surface. Active-layer output light propagates within the diode structure. The anti-reflection coating on the front surface increases transmission of active-layer output light incident below the critical angle ?C. Active-layer output light incident on the redirection layer at an incidence angle greater than ?C is redirected to propagate toward the front surface at an incidence angle that is less than ?C. Device output light is transmitted by the front surface to propagate in an ambient medium, and includes first and second portions of the active-layer output light incident on the front surface at an incidence angle less than ?C, the first portion without redirection by the redirection layer and the second portion with redirection by the redirection layer.
