Patent number: 11637921Abstract: A computing device supports both audible notifications and vibration notifications that are used to notify a user of various different events, such as an incoming voice call or text message. The computing device predicts when a user will have difficulty hearing an audible notification from the computing device due to environmental noise. In response to predicting that a user will have difficulty hearing an audible notification from the computing device due to environmental noise, the computing device enables vibration notifications (if not already enabled) on the computing device. The computing device also optionally communicates with one or more additional devices (e.g., a smartwatch or other wearable device) connected to the computing device to cause those additional devices to also enable vibration notifications. In response to subsequent events for which the user is to be notified, the computing device (and optionally additional devices connected thereto) provides a vibration notification.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2019Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignee: Motorola Mobility LLCInventors: Daniel C. Patent number: 11635817Abstract: Examples are disclosed relating to providing haptic feedback in a stylus while the stylus crosses a gap between two displays. In one example, a method comprises detecting one or more haptic triggering criteria, and at least on condition of detecting the one or more haptic triggering criteria, actuating the haptic feedback component to produce haptic output. A width of the gap between the displays is determined, and a crossing time for a tip of the stylus to cross the gap is calculated using the width of the gap, a stylus velocity, and a stylus direction. At a first time after actuating the haptic feedback component, the method determines that the one or more haptic triggering criteria are not detected. At least on condition of determining that the one or more haptic triggering criteria are not detected, the method continues to actuate the haptic feedback component for the crossing time.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2021Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Shoham Dekel, Uri Ron, Assaf Bar-Ness

Patent number: 11634901Abstract: A method of making a geodesic shape is provided. The method comprises of providing and assembling a plurality of pre-made forms, and a plurality of struts. The pre-made forms have a triangular shape, first and second inner edges, and an outer edge. The length of each inner edge and outer edge are determined by the frequency of the geodesic shape, diameter of the geodesic shape, and known formulas for relating diameter and frequency when creating a geodesic dome or sphere. Using the pre-made forms and struts, a polygonal shape is assembled, each shape having either five or six pre-made forms. The resulting desired polygonal shape and additional desired polygonal shapes made using the same steps are connected at preset angles in known geodesic form and function. The desired polygonal shapes then combine to form a desired geodesic shape. Throughout the process, no struts are operably coupled to other struts.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2018Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignee: Geodesic Earthworks, LLCInventors: James C. Patent number: 11633627Abstract: A Cherenkov-based or thin-sheet scintillator-based imaging system uses a radio-optical triggering unit (RTU) that detects scattered radiation in a fast-response scintillator to detect pulses of radiation to permit capture of Cherenkov-light or scintillator-light images during pulses of radiation and background images at times when pulses of radiation are not present without need for electrical interface to the accelerator that provides the pulses of radiation. The Cherenkov images are corrected by background subtraction and used for purposes including optimization of treatment, commissioning, routine quality auditing, R&D, and manufacture. The radio-optical triggering unit employs high-speed, highly sensitive radio-optical sensing to generate a digital timing signal which is synchronous with the treatment beam for use in triggering Cherenkov light or scintillator light imaging.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2021Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignees: THE TRUSTEES OF DARTMOUTH COLLEGE, DOSEOPTICS, LLCInventors: Venkataramanan Krishnaswamy, Petr Bruza, Jr., Michael Jermyn, Brian W.
