Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to video coding and particularly to methods and systems for deriving offsets in cross-component transform coefficient level reconstruction. An example method for decoding a current video block of a video bitstream is disclosed. The method includes receiving a coded video bitstream; extracting, from the coded video bitstream, a first transform coefficient of a first color component for a current video block; determining a second transform coefficient of a second color component for the current video block; deriving an offset value based on at least one of the following: a quantization step size, or the first transform coefficient; adding the offset value to the second transform coefficient to generate a modified second transform coefficient for the second color component; and decoding the current video block based on the first transform coefficient and the modified second transform coefficient of the second color component.

Abstract: A distally-actuated scanning mirror includes: a mirror block with reflective surface on one side; torsional hinges with proximal ends rigidly attached to the mirror block, and with distal ends attached to flexural structures configured to transform translational motion of the piezoelectric elements into rotational motion of the distal ends of the hinges; and piezoelectric elements providing such translational motion. The distally-actuated scanning mirror also includes flexural structures made of separate flexures attached to the opposite surfaces of the distal ends of the hinges, which flexural structures have defined thinned-down flexural points. Portions of the distally-actuated scanning mirror may be 3D printed and/or fabricated by silicon MEMS technology. The mirror is fabricated from a Silicon-on-Insulator wafer, having a relatively thick (e.g., 380 um) handle layer, and a relatively thin e.g., 50 um), where photolithography with backside-alignment allows separate patterning of these two layers.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing intent-based orchestration using network parsimony trees. In various embodiments, in response to receiving a request for network services that comprises desired characteristics and performance parameters for the requested network services without information regarding specific hardware, hardware type, location, or network, a computing system might generate a request-based parsimony tree based on the desired characteristics and performance parameters. The computing system might access, from a datastore, a plurality of network-based parsimony trees that are each generated based on measured network metrics, might compare the request-based parsimony tree with each of one or more network-based parsimony trees to determine a fitness score for each network-based parsimony tree, and might identify a best-fit network-based parsimony tree based on the fitness scores.

Abstract: TLB poisoning attacks take advantage of security issues of translation lookaside buffer (TLB) management on SEV processors in Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) virtual machines (VMs). In various embodiments, a hypervisor may poison TLB entries between two processes of a SEV VM to compromise the integrity and confidentiality of the SEV VM. Variants of TLB poisoning attacks and end-to-end attacks are shown to be successful on both Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) SEV and SEV-Encrypted State (SEV-ES). Countermeasures for thwarting TLB poisoning attacks include hardware-enforced TLB flush processes and re-exec schemes that, among other things, prevent attackers from manipulating TLB entries and causing a privileged victim process to execute malicious code in an attempt to bypass a password authentication.
