Abstract: This application relates to apparatus and methods for automatically determining and enforcing user permissions for applications and application features. In some embodiments, a system includes a server and a user device. The server may determine a user of the user device based on receiving login credential data. The server may further obtain user attributes for the user including, in some examples, a location of the user. The server may further obtain an attribute-based control policy that identifies relationships between a plurality of possible user attributes. For example, the control policy may identify attribute requirements that must be met for enablement of a particular application feature. Additionally, the server may determine user permissions for the user based on the control policy and the user attributes. The server may transmit the user permissions to the user device, and the user device configures the corresponding application according to the user permissions.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in content generating, searching, hosting and/or providing systems supported by or configured with personal computing devices, servers and/or platforms. The systems interact to identify and retrieve data within or across platforms, which can be used to improve the quality of data used in processing interactions between or among processors in such systems. The disclosed systems and methods provide systems and methods for automatically allowing web browsing in a user interface of an electronic messaging system. The disclosed systems and methods automatically display electronic messages containing item information displayed in an electronic message in place of any web page links associated with the item enabling browsing of the item information from within the electronic messaging system's user interface.

Abstract: A method for imparting flame retardancy to a substrate material. The method comprises adding to a substrate material a flame retardant composition. The flame retardant composition comprises at least one flame retardant salt, a nitrogen-containing compound, and optionally water. The at least one flame retardant salt comprises an ammonium salt of phosphoric acid. The ammonium salt of phosphoric acid comprises water soluble ammonium polyphosphate (APP). The water soluble ammonium polyphosphate has a total nitrogen as N from about 5 to about 15 weight percent, and a total phosphorus as P2O5 from about 30 to about 40 weight percent, based on the total weight of the ammonium polyphosphate (APP).

Abstract: A method of preparing a preformed fiber optic circuit for later termination to at least one fiber optic connector includes providing a substrate for supporting a plurality of optical fibers, the substrate including at least one layer of flexible foil, wherein the flexible foil may be formed from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) according to one example and peeling a layer including at least the optical fibers from the at least one layer of flexible foil.

Abstract: A machine learning system includes a coach machine learning system that uses machine learning to help a student machine learning system learn its system. By monitoring the student learning system, the coach machine learning system can learn (through machine learning techniques) “hyperparameters” for the student learning system that control the machine learning process for the student learning system. The machine learning coach could also determine structural modifications for the student learning system architecture. The learning coach can also control data flow to the student learning system.

Abstract: A device may receive a manifest that identifies a plurality of content fragments associated with a content asset. The device may receive or access instructions for inserting secondary content into a location of the content asset that does not align with the boundaries between the content fragments. Based on the received instructions, the playback device may generate updated manifest information that identifies a first modified content fragment and a second modified content fragment. The location for inserting the secondary content in the updated manifest information may align with a new boundary of the first modified content fragment or the second modified content fragment. The device may share the updated manifest information, and may receive a modified manifest file, or content asset, comprising the modified content fragments.

Abstract: Example UAV landing systems and methods are described. In one implementation, a landing platform includes a conveyor belt capable of supporting an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The conveyor belt can move in a first direction and a second direction that is opposite the first direction. The landing platform also includes a first positioning bumper and a second positioning bumper, where the first positioning bumper and the second positioning bumper are capable of repositioning the UAV on the conveyor belt. The landing platform further includes a cradle that can receive and secure the UAV.

Abstract: An example inline frame monitor is disclosed. The inline frame monitor injects monitoring logic into a document object model to monitor an activity within a dynamically loaded inline frame of a web page. Data regarding the activity within the dynamically loaded inline frame is received. A policy is applied to validate or invalidate the activity within the dynamically loaded inline frame.

Abstract: A tamper-proof container for medication that enables self-destruction of contents upon tampering comprising an outer housing having a lid that permit insertion of pills, an inner medication chamber for holding discrete quantities of said pills, a dispensing section to provide timed dispensing of pills from said inner medication chamber according to a timing device preprogrammed according to a dosage regime, a pill destruction section to destroy and/or adulterate said pills upon activation, a pressurized double-walled bladder forming an annular chamber surrounding the medication chamber, and medication destruction section being operative to depressurize and activate destruction of pills upon tampering with the device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving a query specifying an operation to perform on a first table of a plurality of data blocks stored. Each data block in the first table includes a respective reference count indicating a number of tables referencing the data block. The method also includes determining that the operation specified by the query includes copying the plurality of data blocks in the first table into a second table and, in response, for each data block of the plurality of data blocks in the first table copied into the second table, incrementing, the respective reference count associated with the data block in the first table, appending, by the data processing hardware, into metadata of the second table, a reference of the corresponding data block copied into the second table.

Abstract: A system and method for stabilizing an incontinent cervix during pregnancy are described. A system may include a nesting portion designed to surround the cervix without applying pressure to the cervix, while supporting the uterus in opposition to the weight of the developing fetus to prevent untimely effacement and dilatation of the cervix; thereby reducing the risk of premature birth and its consequence.

Abstract: A method of executing an application on a mobile computing device includes providing a first host application on a mobile computing device. A sub-application is provided on the mobile computing device that is configured to selectively execute in response to execution of the first host application. The first host application is executed by the mobile computing device, including executing the sub-application. The sub-application is configured to execute a method that includes determining a location of the mobile computing device, and if the mobile computing device is determined to be at a location within a predetermined first geographic area, then sending digital content associated with the first geographic area to the mobile computing device and displaying the digital content associated with the first geographic area on the mobile device.

Abstract: A vehicle interior mountable and adjustable bottle holder apparatus is provided having an L-shaped base, a slidably removable clip, and an adjustable elastic strap for securely holding and mounting bottles of soap, sanitizer, and similar hygienic products of various dimensions within multiple interior areas of a vehicle. The slidably removable clip is adapted for three positions; an extended, a closed, and a removed position relative to the L-shaped base. The slidably removable clip has a headrest attachment aperture or an interlocking headrest clamp, each adapted to receive and securely retain a headrest pole. In another embodiment the L-shaped base has an extruding air vent clip retention channel with air vent clips for mounting the apparatus to the vehicle's air vent. The apparatus is also adapted for insertion and retention into a side window panel in a door, attachment to an inside door handle, and an armrest of the vehicle.

Abstract: An adaptive cloud conversation platform capable of making automated decisions regarding when and how to establish ongoing communications with consumers so as to maximize the relationship between the consumer and a given brand. The system has a connection management services layer which determines what communications should be established and how they should be established, an initiation management services layer which determines when communications should be established, and a user management services layer which stores information about consumers and brands for determination of when and how communications should be established. Certain of these services have machine learning algorithms incorporated into them trained to perform analyses of the particular type of operation handled by that service. The outputs of each service can be used as inputs to other services, such that a network of machine learnings algorithms is created which determines when and how to establish ongoing communications with consumers.

Abstract: The present application generally relates to a method and apparatus for controlling an autonomous vehicle. In particular, the method and apparatus are operative for detecting, by a sensor, an object within a first vehicle path, generating, by a processor, a second vehicle path in response to either the detection of the object such that the second vehicle path avoids the object, or a user initiated trajectory shift, generating, by the processor, an initial steering torque in response to the second vehicle path, performing, by the processor, an adaptation on the initial steering torque to generate an adapted steering torque in response to the initial steering torque exceeding a torque rate limit, and controlling, by a vehicle controller a host vehicle steering system to follow the second vehicle signal path in response to the adapted steering torque.

Abstract: A standalone UV-C sanitizing apparatus and method is provided that is operable to sanitize and disinfect a user's hands or protective gloves. The apparatus includes a housing with light emitting diodes (LEDs) positioned to emit ultraviolet (UV-C) light connected to a circuit board which are individually connected to a power source. The apparatus is configured so that when the user positions the hands or gloves under the housing, the UV-C light is emitted for a predetermined period of time based on the distance to the hands and the power output of the LEDs. The UV-C light is emitted at a wavelength suitable to kill, destroy, or reduce growth of microorganisms/germs. The housing can be configured with a sensor to detect motion under the housing and include a limiter hand guard.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to improving user experiences when executing binary code that has been translated from other binary code. Binary code (instructions) for a source instruction set architecture (ISA) cannot natively execute on a processor that implements a target ISA. The instructions in the source ISA are binary-translated to instructions in the target ISA and are executed on the processor. The overhead of performing binary translation and/or the overhead of executing binary-translated code are compensated for by increasing the speed at which the translated code is executed, relative to non-translated code. Translated code may be executed on hardware that has one or more power-performance parameters of the processor set to increase the performance of the processor with respect to the translated code. The increase in power-performance for translated code may be proportional to the degree of translation overhead.

Abstract: A water treatment system, such as a water softening system, having a water treatment tank with at least one distributor plate mounted inside to support filter media and/or ion exchange resin. The water treatment system is designed to treat hard water with a packed ion-exchange filter media and has a distributor plate design for facilitating the ion-exchange within a water softener resin bed, as well as facilitating the regeneration of the resin bed. The distributor plate presents cavities to the topside for entrapping filter media, and the cavities have narrow slits located at the base for allowing fluid to pass. A method for assembling the water treatment tank and supporting inserted distributor plate is shown. The distributor plate rest on and is supported by a domed-shaped structure that can be placed in the bottom portion of the water treatment vessel.
