Abstract: The disclosure herein describes creating and managing an editable rules-based model. A model is trained to generate output values for data sources based on input feature data of the data sources. Using the trained model, results are generated that include feature-output value pairs and associated confidence values for each data source. The confidence values are aggregated for each feature-output value pair of the generated results, and rules of a rules-based model are built using the feature-output value pairs and the respective aggregated confidence values of the generated results. A user is provided access to the rules of the rules-based model via a model management interface. The rules-based model is updated based on rule change instructions received from the user via the model management interface.

Abstract: In a three dimensional non-volatile memory structure that etches part of the top of the memory structure (including a portion of the select gates), data is stored on a majority (or all but one) of the word lines as x bits per memory cell while data is stored on a top edge word line that is closest to the etching with variable bits per memory cell. In one example embodiment that implements vertical NAND strings, memory cells connected to the top edge word line and that are on NAND strings adjacent the etching store data as n bits per memory cell and memory cells connected to the top edge word line and that are on NAND strings not adjacent the etching store data as m bits per memory cell, where m>x>n.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of golf training device that helps a golfer learn and coordinate lower body positions and movements with upper body movements, using a series of feedback signals. In one embodiment, among others, a system comprises a foot sensor that attaches to a Lead Foot of a user. The foot sensor is configured to detect a heel of the Lead Foot being raised. The system also comprises a leg sensor that attaches to a Trail Leg of the user, and the leg sensor detects a bend in the Trail Leg of the user. The foot sensor is configured to detect the heel being lowered at an instance after the detection of the bend in the Trail Leg. The system further comprises a feedback device configured to activate one or more feedback indicators after the detections of foot and/or leg movements.

Abstract: Various processes can apply pressure and/or heat to a photovoltaic (PV) layer, including processes that integrate solar cells into different types of industrial glass such as an autoclave lamination process. The disclosure describes a planarization technique that can be used on the PV layer to eliminate point loads caused by such processes. In an aspect, a method for producing a component is described that includes disposing or placing a planarization material on a PV layer, modifying a physical form of the planarization material to provide a planar surface made of the planarization material on one side of the PV layer having surface irregularities, and forming a stack of layers (e.g., as part of an autoclave lamination process) for the component by disposing a first layer over the planar surface on the one side of the PV layer and a second layer over the other, opposite side of the PV layer.

Abstract: A check valve includes a housing defining an inlet, an outlet, a passage between the inlet and outlet, and a sealing surface along the passage. A piston member is disposed about a longitudinal axis and has a sealing face disposed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a circular groove defined therein extending inward from the sealing face. An O-ring is disposed in the groove. A biasing member exerts a biasing force on the piston and thus forces the O-ring into sealing engagement with the sealing surface of the housing. The piston member is moveable from a first position in which the O-ring is sealingly engaged with the sealing surface of the housing and thus the outlet is sealed from the inlet, and a second position in which the O-ring is spaced from the sealing surface of the housing and thus the outlet is not sealed from the inlet.

Abstract: A method of forming a shaped steel object, includes cutting a blank from an alloy composition. The alloy composition includes 0.1-1 wt. % carbon, 0.1-3 wt. % manganese, 0.1-3 wt. % silicon, 1-10 wt. % aluminum, and a balance being iron. The method also includes heating the blank to a temperature above a temperature at which austenite begins to form to generate a heated blank, transferring the heated blank to a die, forming the heated blank into a predetermined shape defined by the die to generate a shaped steel object, and decreasing the temperature of the shaped steel object to ambient temperature. The heating is performed under an atmosphere comprising at least one of an inert gas, a carbon (C)-based gas, and nitrogen (N2) gas.

An electrical driving circuit may be configured to apply a voltage to the electroactive element to deform the electroactive element and thus change at least one optical property of the deformable optical element. The at least one adaptive element may be positioned outside of the optical aperture and may be configured to alter a physical boundary condition of the deformable optical element. Various other methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: A LED controller includes an image buffer to hold image data. An LED pixel forming a part of a large pixel array is activatable in response to image data, LDO state, and pulse width modulation module state. A logic module including a pixel diagnostic mode using an LDO bypass is connected to modify LDO state and allow direct addressing of the LED pixel for diagnostic purposes without needing to use image data from the image buffer.

Abstract: Described herein are embodiments of a unified neural network framework to integrate Topic modeling, Word embedding and Entity Embedding (TWEE) for representation learning of inputs. In one or more embodiments, a novel topic sparse autoencoder is introduced to incorporate discriminative topics into the representation learning of the input. Topic distributions of inputs are generated from a global viewpoint and are utilized to enable autoencoder to learn topical representations. A sparsity constraint may be added to ensure that the most discriminative representations are related to topics. In addition, both words and entity related information may be embedded into the network to help learn a more comprehensive input representation. Extensive empirical experiments show that embodiments of the TWEE framework outperform the state-of-the-art methods on different datasets.

Abstract: Systems and methods for pairing for-hire vehicles with their associated medallion are disclosed. Some for-hire vehicles, such as taxis operate with a for-hire vehicle meter (taximeter). In some embodiments, the meter contains an identifier of a medallion that is associated with the meter. The meter may then determine if it is connected or properly associated with the medallion. If the meter is connected or properly associated with the medallion, it will then access the identification information of the medallion and determine if identification information matches its contained medallion identifier. If the identification information does not match, the meter may shut down and thereafter be non-engageable. The relationship between the medallion and the meter is advantageously used to enforce restrictions on the operation of the for-hire vehicle including, for example, time and location of pick-up restrictions.

Abstract: Described herein is a mechanism for utilizing a neural network to identify and rank search results. A machine learning model is trained by converting training data comprising query-document entries into query term-document entries. The query term-document entries are utilized to train the machine learning model. A set of query terms are identified. The query terms can be derived from a query history. The trained machine learning model is used to calculate document ranking scores for the query terms and the resultant scores are stored in a pre-calculated term-document index. A query to search the document index is broken down into its constituent terms and an aggregate document ranking score is calculated from a weighted sum of the document ranking scores corresponding to the individual query terms. Because the term-document index can be pre-calculated, it can be downloaded to provide deep learning search capabilities in a computationally limited environment.

A mobile workforce may use the techniques herein to manage work assignments, report activities, and to manage and track time. This technology may be used, e.g., in the transportation industry, but is not limited to this industry.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for accessing protected data. A computing device may have a secured stared storage accessible by two or more applications operating on the mobile device. The computing device may obtain a first token from an authorization service to verify user identity for a first application. The first token may be stored in the shared storage area, and be accessible to one or more applications sharing the storage space. In response to a user attempt to access a web service using a second application, the user identity may be verified using the first token. The authorization service may verify user credentials, and send a second token to the computing device. The second token may be a proxy ticket authorizing access and exchange of protected data between the second application and a web service. The second token may also be stored in the secure storage area.
