  • Patent number: 11436103
Abstract: Replication of a filesystem or a mount point or share may replicate all data that it consists of irrespective of where the data is stored. Replication protects data irrespective of location. One method is to replicate the filesystem namespace as is while skipping the data outside of the appliance/machine so that replication cost and time are reasonable. The data outside of the machine, like cloud/tape data is protected differently. One example method includes a data protection operation configured to replication a namespace associated with multiple data tiers. During replication, data from one of the tiers is skipped while all of the namespace metadata is replicated. The recovery restores the namespace metadata and the data that was replicated from the other tier. This may be performed in connection with cyber security, for example when replicating multi-tier data to a vault.

  • Patent number: 11438176
Abstract: A device can (i) store public keys Ss and Sn for a network and (ii) record private key sd. A network can record a corresponding private keys ss and sn. The device can (i) generate a device ephemeral PKI key pair (Ed, ed) and (ii) send public key Ed to the network. The device can receive an ephemeral public key Es from the network. The device can calculate values for A: an elliptic curve point addition over Ss, Sn, and Es, and B: (sd+ed)mod n. The device can input values for X and Y into an elliptic curve Diffie Hellman key exchange (ECDH) in order to determine a mutually derived shared secret X5, where the network can also derive shared secret X5. The device can (i) use X5 to derive a key K2 and (ii) decrypt a ciphertext from the network using key K2.

  • Patent number: 11438844
Abstract: A hydrant apparatus may be employed to monitor a water distribution system, and may include a sensor, a processor, and a local clock source. The apparatus may wake from a low power mode to a sensing mode, receive the sensor data, associate the sensor data with a first local clock time, and return the apparatus to the low power mode from the sensing mode. The apparatus may subsequently wake to an operational mode, determine a second local clock time subsequent to the first local clock time, associate an external clock time with the second local clock time, determine an offset for the received sensor data based on the first local clock time and the association between the second local clock time and the external clock time, and transmit the sensor data and the offset to an external monitoring system.

  • Patent number: 11436561
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for providing an overall assessment of a combined inventory item and structure similarity to an initial inventory item and structure. A plurality of inventory items, stored in a database, maybe retrieved to generate a score value corresponding to each of the plurality of inventory items based on a plurality of facets describing the inventory item. Based on the generated score value, a subset of the plurality of inventory items may be determined based on data points representing the subset of the plurality of inventory items that are within a preconfigured Euclidean distance from a centroid representing a data point corresponding to the initial inventory item. One or more structures corresponding to the subset of the plurality of inventory items may be dynamically generated, and their combinations are scored for finding an alternate inventory item and structure.

  • Patent number: 11436916
Abstract: A projected target location of a handheld object is determined based on applying translation factors, scaling factors, and offsets to a location of a reference element of the handheld object detected by a camera on a two-dimensional plane. The translation factors are determined based on a difference between a calibration location on the plane and an initial location of the reference element corresponding to the calibration location, and serve to shift the location of the reference element to generate the projected target location. The scaling factors are determined based on an estimated length of a user's arm holding the handheld object, and serve to scale the location of the reference element to generate the projected target location. The offsets are determined based on polynomial equations, and serve to extend the distance between the projected target location and the calibration location.

  • Patent number: 11436811
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling a view of a virtual camera in a virtual world. A view of user viewing a virtual world may be controlled or changed while accounting for a user's head position. For example, a virtual camera may be wrapped in a container such that rotation of the container causes rotation of the virtual camera relative to a global coordinate system. Based on a position of a head-mounted display, an initial virtual camera rotation angle relative to a global coordinate system of the virtual world may be identified. An indication to change to view to particular direction may be received. A desired rotation angle relative to the global coordinate system for a view to correspond to the particular direction is then determined. The container is then rotated by a rotation value based at least on both the desired rotation angle and the initial virtual camera rotation angle.

  • Patent number: 11438252
Abstract: A packet monitoring application instantiated on a server hosting a virtualized network stack is utilized to track data packet propagations and drops at each component within the network stack to reduce the amount of time to identify a root cause for latency issues. The packet monitoring application can be selectively enabled or disabled by an administrator. Components within the virtualized network stack report packet drops and successful packet propagations to the packet monitoring application, which can filter the packets based on input parameters. Thus, a user can select at what level of granularity to filter packets within the virtualized network stack while being able to assess each packet's traversal through each component within the network stack. The packet monitoring application can also perform post-processing of on the filtered data packets to determine latency among components or sections of the virtualized network stack.

  • Patent number: 11436106
Abstract: A efficient method for long-term retention backup policy within recovery point objectives (RPO). Specifically, the disclosed method proposes a dynamic promotion scheme through which short-term retention backup copies, in compliance with specified long-term retention RPOs, may be promoted to render long-term retention backup copies. Further, the disclosed method not only looks to past and/or presently dated short-term retention backup copies, but also looks to prospective (or future) dated short-term retention backup copies, which are expected or predicted to be produced, for promotion. Moreover, in circumstances where there are no appropriate past, present, or future dated short-term retention backup copies to promote, the disclosed method triggers new backup operations to acquire the long-term retention backup copies necessary to maintain the specified long-retention RPOs.
