Patent number: 11424753Abstract: An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is described. This ADC includes a conversion circuit with multiple bit-conversion circuits. During operation, the ADC may receive an input signal. Then, the conversion circuit may asynchronously perform successive-approximation-register (SAR) analog-to-digital conversion of the input signal using the bit-conversion circuits, where the bit-conversion circuits to provide a quantized representation of the input signal. For example, the bit-conversion circuits may asynchronously and sequentially perform the SAR analog-to-digital conversion to determine different bits in the quantized representation of the input signal. Moreover, the ADC may selectively perform self-calibration of a global delay of the bit-conversions circuits. Note that the timing self-calibration may be iterative and subject to a constraint that a maximum conversion time is less than a target conversion time.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2021Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: Ay Dee Kay LLCInventors: Robert W. Patent number: 11425334Abstract: The disclosed techniques improve user engagement and promote efficient use of computing resources by providing dynamically controlled aspect ratios for communication session renderings based on a physical orientation of a device. In some configurations, a system can select a first aspect ratio for individual video streams of a communication session when a device is in a first orientation, e.g., a portrait orientation. In addition, the system can select a second aspect ratio for the individual video streams when the device is in a second orientation, e.g., a landscape orientation. In some configurations, the first aspect ratio can be greater than the second aspect ratio, or the aspect ratios can be selected based on a target aspect ratio, which can be adjusted over time. By dynamically selecting an aspect ratio for individual stream renderings, screen space of a device can be optimized while the device is held in various physical orientations.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2021Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Jason Thomas Faulkner, Ruchir Astavans, Kevin Daniel Morrison, Timur Aleshin, Chad A. Patent number: 11422907Abstract: While connected to cloud storage, a computing device writes data and metadata to the cloud storage, indicates success of the write to an application of the computing device, and, after indicating success to the application, writes the data and metadata to local storage of the computing device. The data and metadata may be written to different areas of the local storage. The computing device may also determine that it has recovered from a crash or has connected to the cloud storage after operating disconnected and reconcile the local storage with the cloud storage. The reconciliation may be based at least on a comparison of the metadata stored in the area of the local storage with metadata received from the cloud storage. The cloud storage may store each item of data contiguously with its metadata as an expanded block.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2013Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: James W. Patent number: 11423616Abstract: In one embodiment, a system may access an input image of an object captured by cameras, and the input image depicts appearance information associated with an object. The system may generate a first mesh of the object based on features identified from the input image of the object. The system may generate, by processing the first mesh using a machine-learning model, a position map that defines a contour of the object. Each pixel in the position map corresponds to a three-dimensional coordinate. The system may further generate a second mesh based on the position map, wherein the second mesh has a higher resolution than the first mesh. The system may render an output image of the object based on the second mesh. The system disclosed in the present application can render a dense mesh which has a higher resolution to provide details which cannot be compensated by texture information.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2020Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: Facebook Technologies, LLC.Inventors: Tomas Simon Kreuz, Jason Saragih, Stephen Anthony Lombardi, Shugao Ma, Gabriel Bailowitz Schwartz

Patent number: 11422909Abstract: When managing stripes in a storage system, based on a determination that a failed storage device appears in first storage devices, a failed stripe involving the failed storage device is determined in a first redundant array of independent disks (RAID). An idle space that can be used to reconstruct the failed stripe is determined in the first storage devices. The failed stripe is reconstructed to second storage devices in the storage system based on a determination that the idle space is insufficient to reconstruct the failed stripe, the second storage devices being storage devices in a second RAID. An extent in the failed stripe is released in the first storage devices. Accordingly, it is possible to reconstruct a failed stripe as soon as possible to avoid data loss, and further to provide more idle spaces in the first storage devices for future reconstruction.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2020Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Jian Gao, Xinlei Xu
