Patent number: 11399039Abstract: Lateral movement between networked computers is detected, and automatically and efficiently assessed by a detection tool to distinguish innocent activity from cyberattacks. By correlating log data about logins and network traffic, the detection tool produces network node sets corresponding to individual movements. If a chain can be built from node sets matching an event sequence pattern that tends to be used by attackers, then the detection tool reports the chain as an illicit lateral movement candidate. Detection patterns define illicitness grounds such as consistency of data transfer sizes, shortness of login intervals, use of suspect protocols, chain scope, and the presence or use of administrator credentials. Detection responses may then isolate computers, inspect them for malware or tampering, obtain forensic images for analysis, tighten exfiltration filtering, and otherwise mitigate against ongoing or future cyberattacks.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2020Date of Patent: July 26, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Mor Rubin, Moshe Ben-Nehemia

Patent number: 11398205Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for reducing latency in augmented reality displays. A display controller receives, from a GPU, a stream of image pixels of a frame of virtual content to be presented on a display of a display device. The stream of image pixels is received via a high-speed bulk interface that transfers data at least as fast as can be consumed by the display. As the stream of image pixel is received, the display controller converts each respective image pixel from a data format used to transmit the stream of image pixels via the high-speed bulk interface to a data format that is compatible for display by the display. Each converted image pixel is stored in a pixel cell of the display, after which the frame is presented on the display.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2020Date of Patent: July 26, 2022Assignee: FACEBOOK TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Daniel Wagner, Igor Komir, Dominik Schnitzer, Alex Feinman, Heinrich Fink

Patent number: 11397893Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described for neural network formation configuration feedback for wireless communications. A network entity (base station 120, core network server 302) determines a set (sets 2002, 2104) of deep neural network reference signals to send on a physical channel for measuring performance of deep neural networks, and/or a set of neural network formation configurations (sets 2004, 2106). The network entity communicates indications (indications 2030, 2102) of the set of neural network formation configurations and the set of deep neural network reference signals to a user equipment (UE 110). The network entity initiates transmission of each deep neural network reference signal of the set, and directs the user equipment to measure (outputs 2032, 2034, 2036, 2124, 2128, 2132) performance of a set of deep neural networks formed using the set of neural network formation configurations, and select one of the set of neural network formation configurations.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2019Date of Patent: July 26, 2022Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Jibing Wang, Erik Richard Stauffer

Patent number: 11397811Abstract: A system and method for early detection of a compromised client device includes a tamper detection service configured to monitor modifications to resource access privileges over time to identify unusual variations in jailbreak status that indicate compromise of the client device. For example, the tamper detection service may monitor the jailbreak status of system files over time to expose attempts to hide the jailbreak status of a protected resource. To validate that malware is attempting to hide the jailbreak status of a protected resources, the tamper detection process may launch multiple different resource accesses, targeting the protected resource, to determine whether different accessibility results are returned, indicating a compromised device.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2020Date of Patent: July 26, 2022Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Jon Whitmore, Kevin Nieman

Patent number: 11399024Abstract: A communal computing device, such as an interactive digital whiteboard, can become unlocked if a user is near the device. The communal computing device may use a sensor such as a camera to capture images of a person and obtain an identifier from a personal device such as a smartphone. A cloud-based provider that is trusted by both the communal computing device and the personal device may associate both the image and the identifier of the personal device with the same user identity. Obtaining the user identity from multiple, different sources provides a secure technique for the communal computing device to recognize a user without the user directly interacting with the communal computing device. If the sensor no longer detects the user or the personal device is no longer detected, then the communal computing device may log off the user. The personal device may be used to confirm log off.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2018Date of Patent: July 26, 2022Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Raju Jain, Dipesh Bhattarai, Peter Gregory Davis, Jeffrey Johnson, Liang Zhang, Kiran Kumar
