Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for populating application-specific information using overlay applications. For example, in order to relieve some of the difficulties users face in inputting information into mobile devices which may have smaller screen sizes and may not feature dedicated input mechanisms, the methods and systems described herein automatically populate application-specific information. The methods and systems do this using an application that presents an application overlay feature. That is, the application is accessible while a user is using another application (e.g., on the mobile device) and/or while a user is scrolling through other applications.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention comprise compositions and methods for inhibiting the formation of scales in wellbore environments with high levels of dissolved iron. The composition comprises compounds made with sugar acids, such as aldonic acids, ulosonic acids, uronic acids, and/or aldaric acids, and/or salts, esters, and ethers thereof. These sugar acids can be used in conjunction with conventional threshold scale inhibitors, comprising phosphonates, phosphates, aminocarboxylates, amino acids, and polymers containing carboxylic acids, sulfonic acids, phosphonates, phosphates. The resulting scale inhibition mixture minimizes scale formation from various cations while simultaneously acting as a chelating agent.

Abstract: An access point that performs dynamic selection of an electronic-device-specific receive antenna pattern of an antenna for use when receiving a frame from an electronic device in a WLAN is described. In particular, during operation the access point may determine the receive antenna pattern of the antenna that is used when receiving the frame from the electronic device. Then, the access point may store, in memory, information that specifies the receive antenna pattern. Moreover, when the access point predicts that the electronic device will transmit a frame to the access point within a subsequent time interval, the access point may select the receive antenna pattern and may set an antenna pattern of the antenna to the receive antenna pattern. Next, the access point may receive the frame from the electronic device using the receive antenna pattern.

  • Publication number: 20220182674
Abstract: Disclosed herein are exemplary embodiments of innovations in the area of point cloud encoding and decoding. Example embodiments can reduce the computational complexity and/or computational resource usage during 3D video encoding by selectively encoding one or more 3D-point-cloud blocks using an inter-frame coding (e.g., motion compensation) technique that allows for previously encoded/decoded frames to be used in predicting current frames being encoded. Alternatively, one or more 3D-point-cloud block can be encoded using an intra-frame encoding approach. The selection of which encoding mode to use can be based, for example, on a threshold that is evaluated relative to rate-distortion performance for both intra-frame and inter-frame encoding. Still further, embodiments of the disclosed technology can use one or more voxel-distortion-correction filters to correct distortion errors that may occur during voxel compression.

Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to minimizing battery power consumption while employing local wireless communication to activate an operation of an autonomous vehicle. In an example implementation, a vehicle controller of an autonomous vehicle transitions to a powered-down state after the autonomous vehicle is parked at a parking spot that lacks cellular communication coverage. The vehicle controller may transition to a powered-up state at a scheduled time to execute an autonomous operation based on a directive stored in a cloud-based device. In no directive has been stored, the vehicle controller wakes up periodically in a partially powered-up state and transmits a query in a local wireless communications format to the cloud-based device to check for a directive. If no directive is present, the vehicle controller transitions back to the powered-down state. If a directive is present, the vehicle controller transitions to a fully powered-up state to execute the autonomous operation.
