Abstract: A method for operating a vehicle that includes an internal combustion engine that may be automatically stopped and started is described. In one example, selection of an engine starting device is based on a value of an engine starting torque reserve. The engine starting torque reserve may be dynamically adjusted so that life spans of engine starting devices may meet expectations.

Abstract: Speckle reduction in photonic phased array structures can be achieved using a receiver aperture that is configured to provide optical energy through portions of at least one optical network. The optical network is in communication with phase-controlled elements of at least one array of phase-controlled elements. Optical energy is coupled through a first portion of the optical network to a first optical detector in a detector structure, and optical energy is coupled through a second portion of the optical network to a second optical detector in the detector structure different from the first optical detector in the detector structure.

Abstract: A device having extended reality capabilities may capture a video feed including one or more video frames depicting an object that is visible in a field of view of the device. The device may provide the one or more video frames to a machine learning model that identifies the object and one or more parts of the object that are depicted in the one or more video frames. The device may obtain positional tracking information that represents a position and an orientation associated with the object relative to a coordinate space that corresponds to the field of view of the device. The device may obtain a workflow including a sequence of content items for visually inspecting the object using the extended reality capabilities of the device. The device may render digital content associated with the workflow using the extended reality capabilities of the device.

Abstract: A motor and stator include first and second laminations arranged adjacently in the axial direction. The laminations include sub-yoke parts and first tooth parts. The sub-yoke parts are spliced through a yoke engaging part to form a substantially annular yoke part. The tooth parts are assembled on an inner edge of the yoke part through a tooth engaging part. A first tooth engaging part and a second tooth engaging part are superposed in the axial direction, the first tooth engaging part being different from the second tooth engaging part. A method of manufacturing a stator for a motor is also disclosed.

A second vertically alternating sequence of second continuous insulating layers and second continuous sacrificial material layers is formed over the first-tier structure. A vertically alternating stack of insulating plates and dielectric material is formed over the first-tier retro-stepped dielectric material portion. Alternatively, dielectric pillar structures may be formed in lieu of the vertically alternating stack. After formation of memory stack structures, electrically conductive layers replace portions of the first and second continuous sacrificial material layers.

Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this disclosure can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products for modifying usage of display device pixels. A computing system monitors usage of a plurality of pixels of a display device and determines a target usage level. The computing system identifies that a usage level of a first pixel does not satisfy the target usage level and selects an occasion at which to present the first pixel in a frame to be presented by the display device with an increased intensity with respect to an original intensity that was specified for the first pixel by the frame. The computing system activates the first pixel at the increased intensity during presentation by the display device of the frame.

Abstract: A telecommunications patch panel system (10) including a plurality of multiport telecommunications bezel assemblies (200) installed within a panel frame (100) is presented. The bezel assemblies (200) are formed from cooperating first and second frame parts (210, 240) to define a plurality of jack receptacle openings (202). In one example, the plurality of jack receptacles (202) are arranged in a two-row array. The first and second frame parts (210, 240) also retain a central bonding strip (290) having a plurality of grounding contact elements (292, 293). The grounding contact elements (292, 293) ground the jack modules (120) that are installed within the bezel assembly jack receptacle openings (202). Where a two-row array of jack receptacle openings (202) is provided, the central bonding strip (290) can be configured to extend between the rows. The central bonding strip (290) can provide grounding for multiple bezel assemblies (200).

Abstract: Compositions for treating a sleep disorder or modifying or improving the sleep-wake cycle in a subject are disclosed herein. The composition can be provided as a daily oral uni-dosage form. Methods of making and using the compositions are also provided.

Abstract: An array of microstructures or frustums on a substrate for reducing glare for electronic device displays or windows. The microstructures are designed to nearly perfectly align with the pixels on the display to avoid adverse viewing effects, such as Moiré effects. Substantially all light from the environment illuminating the front side of the film containing the microstructures from all angles is not reflected to the primary viewer (often viewing at an angle normal to the film). Light illuminating the microstructure from the environment will reflect off the microstructures at angles greater than a defined threshold outside the primary viewers field of view. Thus, glare to the primary viewer is minimized while glare to other views who view from other angles than the primary viewer is increased. This increased glare for other viewers adds privacy for the viewing by the primary viewer.

Abstract: In example implementations, a door monitoring sensor is provided. The door monitoring sensor includes a communication interface to transmit an alarm when a door operates outside of operational parameters of the door, an angular sensor to measure rotational movement of the a door, a movement sensor to detect movement along an x-y-z coordinate plane, a radar sensor to detect an object, a rechargeable power supply to provide power to the angular sensor, the movement sensor, and the radar sensor, and a processor. The processor is communicatively coupled to the communication interface, the angular sensor, the movement sensor, and the radar sensor. The processor is to determine that the door is moving outside of the operational parameters of the door and generate the alarm that is transmitted by the communication interface in response to determination that the door is moving outside of the operational parameters of the door.

Abstract: A pair of tights specially designed for the wearer to self-adjust the waist for fit, adjust compression, adjust for waist training, adjust lower abdominal support, and adjust lower lumbar back support. The localized compression effect is configured and adjusted by a textile piece attached at the left side area of the back waistband that can cross the front of the abdomen to the left and a textile piece attached at the right-side area of the back waistband that can cross the front of the abdomen to the right. The two textile pieces that cross the body are anchored from the opposite side areas of the waistband creating a compression and opposite horizontal pull across the back and can be adjusted to attach across the front of the body. The configuration of the waistband and adjustable textile pieces allows a wearer to self-adjust the fit.

Abstract: The disclosure provides infant swaddling device or system in the form of two sleeves to help dampen the moro reflex—one for each arm—with the option of a non-flexible backing (or splint) and weighting. This device safely mimics the swaddling effect by adequately reducing the moro (twitching) reflex and flailing of arms, thus helping baby sleep for longer periods of time. The infant swaddle device may eliminate or reduce the risk of suffocation or overheating that other swaddle transition suits, garments, methods, or devices pose. This device can be used as a swaddle alternative; in conjunction of a swaddle blanket or sack, pod, etc. or without; or as a transition device to easily wean infants from the swaddle.

The method also includes storing the defined term and the definition in an entry in a dictionary data structure and associating the entry with a location in the text document. The method also includes detecting the defined term being used in another location in the document and, in response, causing a visual indication to be presented in a first region in association with the defined term being used in the other location. The method may include causing the definitional statement or definition thereof to be displayed in a second region concurrently with displaying the defined term and the visual indication in the first region.

Abstract: A system for controlling one or more motorized windows. The motorized windows each have a processor, a network device and wireless transmitters enabling connection via a network. The network is controlled by one or more mobile devices which receive user input. The mobile devices wirelessly connect to a local area network (LAN) via a hub. One or more hubs are connected via the LAN. The motorized windows are networked via a personal area network (PAN). The hubs convert the LAN protocol to the PAN protocol. Sensors send sensor data along with real time weather data to the processor. The processor uses this sensor data to update charts and schedules in memory, then sends commands to the controller based on these updated charts and schedules according to user defined and factory set parameters. The system includes both local and cloud-based control.

Abstract: A state of resource allocation is represented as a matrix. Each intersection of a row and column of the matrix indicates a number of units of a resource being provided by a respective node and consumed by a respective client. The allocation is modeled using a characteristic equation of the matrix. The characteristic equation is applied to the matrix to find an eigenvalue indicating a degree of scale the allocation can tolerate. An eigenvector is found for the eigenvalue to determine a direction of scale. A prediction is made as to whether the current state can scale at least one of upwards or downwards by the eigenvector.
